But I'd hoped for a quieter operation. It replaced a 25 year old compactor but the difference in noise was not as much as we hoped.

Our first (old) one was by far the best, we replaced for astheteics and wish we didnt. The foot pedal doesnt work well. After less than 3 months it fell off. Doesn’t compact well unless in solid pack mode, but why? I alway want it compacted well.

I PAID to have best buy professionally install it. The installation is awful. It was not correctly making the compactor hard to open and close. Do yourself a favor Don't pay best buy to install your appliances, they don't know what they're doing

If you get the custom panel ready version, beware that the install service fee does not include installing the custom panel. It was only 4 screws that exactly lined up since it was an exact replacement. So no big deal, I did it myself and the install crew did the rest.
