The drawer doesn't open fluently. When I press on the foot pedal to open it the drawer disengages but doesn't open---I then have to lift up AND pull on the handle to get the drawer open. I had a factory rep repairman to assess it and he said nothing is wrong with it---that it was functioning properly. I am not appeased at all. This unit replaced my prior KitchenAid built-in trash compactor that lasted 28+ years so I'm speaking from experience that the door should pop open unassisted. Note: I made the purchase on 9/1/20. The delivery date was 11/25/20. Install was 11/30/20. I've been too busy to submit the review nor have I used the trash compactor.

Overall good product, only issue so far is that its not offered in a black stainless front.

Not the sturdiest appliance. Aesthetically pleasing

It’s a little on the loud side as others have noted, but it’s a few times a day for 10 seconds - not a big deal in my opinion. Everything else is great.

We have several Kitchenaid appliances and this product replaced our older compactor. I wish I wouldn't have. We only replaced it so it would match our new refrigerator and dishwasher. The stainless steel on this product is horrible - not sure if it's only mine or if it's a problem for others . I don't know why they don't make it in a "printshield s/s" like they do the fridge and dishwasher. If any spot (water) gets on the compactor it is there to stay! I had to stop hanging a hand towel on the bar because the water spots are impossible to remove. Would not recommend.

Item was defective. I had to reorder a new one and hopefully it will work properly

Convinced that trash compactors are better than ever! I was worried it would look out of date, but Kitchen Aid REALLY knows how to make something look great and modern!

Compacts pretty well, a little bit loud but I'm prettt happy.

I had high expectations and looked forward to making this KitchenAid trash compactor part of my new suite of kitchen appliances. Unfortunately, my order was back-ordered and then cancelled by Best Buy as unavailable. The search is on for a retailer who can get their hands on one!

So far so good. No complaints. Thank you best buy!

I can tell already I made a great choice at BEST BUY with my new 3rd garbage compactor, last two GE,Only lasted less than 2 years each. Better warranty,better looking.

Very disappointing quality. Screws came out within the first 3 months, after 15 months the front door/panel fell off.

A new KitchenAid trash compactor did not work when it was installed in early Jan 2025. It was replaced and the replacement had the same problem - drawer wouldn't automatically open. A KitchenAid certified technician was scheduled and he had to special order parts in mid Feb. The compactor has still not been repaired.

Compactor is very sturdy and works well. Door opens easily.

Tremendous support at store and 3rd party delivery exceeded expectations.

Had been looking for years and finally purchased a display model. Best purchase I've made in a while.

Don't buy it. It came not closing right. We had to lift it to close right. It was rough from the beginning. Within 2 weeks it started making weird noises and then just stopped working. The repairman came out and said it needs new rails, new bin, they are bent, new motor, it is burnt out and new wiring harness. Oh and they are on back orderer hopefully in a month we will get the parts. When they come in (sent to my home) I have to call and make an appointment to come out and rebuild it. I have had it 2 months. Terrible product and even worse considering how much it cost! Don't buy it.
