Very disappointed in this Purchase and whirlpools lack of support. Replaced handles that broke. Freezer freezes over routinely and drawer sticks. Water valve replace $450 year 3. Ice maker and dispenser quit working year 3. Interior lights and control board have short. Total repairs total more than $2,000 in 3 years.
Last Whirlpool was more dependable. Won’t be purchasing Whirlpool in the future.

Refrigerator less than 2 years old… 5 service calls. We are told it was a design flaw. Then another flaw… a gear was made of plastic and stripped . My husband bought the party and said there was a tutorial on you tube… hmmm must break easy. Buyer beware!!!

Ice maker doesn't work

Worst refrigerator we have owned. Have ice build up in the freezer. Have had it serviced twice but still a problem . The ice maker has broken four times. Best buy has been out to fix it and it works for a little while but then stopped making ice. Even when it does work it is pathetically slow at producing ice. What a disappoint.

Sexy looking junk

I'll cut to the chase: owned this for about 3 years. Two repairs so far: one having to do with the left door and ice maker (if I'm recalling correctly) and a complete left door replacement due to the hinge being bent and the center door seal never opening all the way. Now, seven months after the door replacement the center seal is once again not opening all the way.
Just the other day I noticed that all of the (supposedly) stainless steel front panels have rust spots on them! Didn't notice this earlier due to crappy downlighting in my kitchen.
Now keep in mind that this is a premium priced standalone fridge. Rust on every panel after just three years???!!! I maybe wouldn't be surprised if I lived on the ocean front somewhere in FL but I live in SE WI. No tropical climate here! I also occupy this house 12 months out of the year. That means that the house is always climate controlled. In five colder months of the year I'm lucky if I can get the humidity up to 30%. With a whole-house humidifier!
Gonna be doing a kitchen remodel soon and I was considering adding a kitchenaid double-wall oven and a cooktop. Not anymore. I don't know who owns them now but they have no excuse for making a product this junky.

Would not recommend

I bought this alsmot 5 yrs ago. Ive had a 3rd party that is scheduled theough best buy, out more then a handful of times. The left drawer that has electrical connected to it ( horrible design if you ask me due to the water and ice machine right above it) you can put your cheese in or lunch meats in has gone out due to the water that leaks In it and freezes which shorted out the wiring. A guy from a parts place has come out in September, written on a copy paper which you cant even read. Stated he could do a trhint but order a new part. After a month and a half I called because I hadnt heard anything about it after being on hold for 45 minutes plus. After finding out the part was ordered and then shipped they they came out almost a month later. I had to empty my refrigerator out 24 hrs in advance, (the week of thanksgiving mind you) for the comany tell us the part has to be at my home before the worker showed up or else we would have to reschedule. Thank goodness it was here 45 minutes before he showed up. Only for him to replace the drawer and find out that it wasnt fixed. After a two weeks, I am told that they need to look into the issue and will get back to me.

Id give it zero stars if i could. Had it repaired several times. Freezes up all the time. Ice maker breaks. Customer service was notified and basically was told, “sorry.” No resolution to my problems. Going to LG or Samsung. Dont waste your money.

Stay Away unless you like to burn money

I cannot in good conscience recommend this appliance. I have never bought an appliance this expensive and that came with this many problems.
I have owned this refrigerator now for 3 years and in that time I have had to replace almost every significant component in the back - valves, control boards, compressors, fans - you name it I’ve probably had to have it replaced.
My cost of ownership has been as expensive as - if not more than - the purchase price. This is a refrigerator installed in a well ventilated area that is clean and dusted regularly within a surge protected household and it’s still managed to fail and lose temperature and ice up in the back once every 3-4 months.
It doesn’t help that parts for this appliance are priced at ridiculous levels.
Stay away from this model and from Kitchenaid as a rule - it has great looks but it is a lifetime of pain and maintenance.

Don't buy!

I've had this fridge for a little over 4 years and I have had so many issues with the ice maker. Now just a couple days ago the entire fridge just stopped working! I have had to throw out so much food because of thawing. 4k down the drain! Yes sure it looks beautiful, but the quality is garbage. I will never buy kitchenaid again.

Buyer's Remorse

Fridge didn't have any issues until 5 year mark. Ice machine stopped, the internal computer broke, entire thing just decided to break. I kept it in my garage for another 1.5 years hoping the numerous different companies I called could fix it, but to no avail. Over $3k down the drain, to the dump. Steer clear of this fridge, you'll regret it.

Fridge lasted 3 and 1/2 years with 5 repairs. I will never buy another Kitchen aid refrigerator. KitchenAid refused any compensation, but this is a lemon!

God awful. I hate this refrigerator so much.

This refrigerator is the biggest piece of garbage. I have been fighting with this thing for 6 years. It hasn’t worked for more than 3 months consecutively. One thing after another. Multiple technicians. No hope.
So much food lost. So many trips back and forth moving groceries to 1990s garage fridge while it defrosts.
Lights shut off, sounds like a truck, mushy freezer food.
I will never buy another item from Best Buy.

Worst Refrigerator

This is the worst refrigerator I have ever owned. Problems started with a failure of the ice maker. We learned to live with out the ice. Now the freezer is warm and the refrigerator will not get below 40 degrees. We have another refrigerator that we spent much less for and it is running great (not a Kitchen Aid) This refrigerator is less than 3 years old. DO NOT Buy!

Not a Question of If, But When Yours Will Fail

Repair people have been out five times now, still not working. Intermittently doesn't cool enough, ice in icemaker melts and shoirts out all the circuit boards. Damaged my wood flooring. Kitchen-Aid says it's passed a year, not our problem. $3800 fridge now completely dead. Stay away!

My brand new refrigerator broken down in 3 weeks waiting on parts . A $3100.00 KITCHENAID REFRIGERATOR and Best Buys cant help me cause i didnt get the extended warranty on a BRAND NEW APPLIANCE 3 weeks old THIS HAS BEEN THE WORST BUYING EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER APPLIANCE FROM BEST BUYS. The fridge has a year warranty through whirlpool , tech came out in 4 days after I called ,now waiting on parts 3 to 5 days fed x to my house , then i have to call repair man back out that will be another 3 to 5 days with no refrigerator .

After only 2.5 years, I had to have the motherboard replaced - freezer stopped working. The first service call was to replace the fan motor. 1 month later now I need to replace the motherboard. $1200 additional cost in less than 3 years.

Whirlpool

Had less than 3 years it stopped defrosting so it builds up ice in fridge area behind the 2 smaller drawers so can’t close them. Whirlpool will not cover parts or labor. Be cautious before spending this kind of money on it.

Waste of money: nothing but trouble

Worst purchase I’ve ever made. Thought we were buying a good “name” and was told it had a “Cadillac warranty.” Both were the farthest from what we got. 6 months in, the defroster vents froze up...and again 6 months later....and again 6 months after that. And again a few months later, and repeat 2 or 3 times. Used their “approved” repairer: first guy hit some buttons, second guy found a manufacturer defect, said the repair would fix it. It didn’t. Nothing covered, warranty is worthless. In 35 years, I’ve never had to empty a fridge so many times: thought paying twice as much would get us years of worry-free use, but I’ve had to work around it more times than I care to remember. I wouldn’t recommend kitchen aid to anyone I even remotely like.

Don't waste your money

Ice maker stopped working a couple months after purchase, ice drawer ices up and freezes to the point you can't open it at times. Every call to KitchenAid takes a minimum of 30 minutes to get someone to answer then you get the run around.
