I used these for PC desktop with optical cable.
The main issue these have is they product higher pitch sound poorly. This is very uncomfortably and basically unusable to me. I wouldn't use these for free.
I have tried many speakers ranging from $500-$3500.
A very important thing at the very least is that the high pitch sounds don't hurt your ear. Usually this happens from cheap speakers I tried around $60-$400.
Even if you play the song louder a good speaker wouldn't hurt your ear with certain sounds.
This can be achieved if the speaker has a very good soundstage.
I would recommend spending a little more around $500-$900. A good brand I like is Edifier which has many options. A Very good option is Edifier S360DB. They play high res with optical cable connection. Amazing at 24-bit 96000hz. even comes with subwoofer!

Very nice sounding speakers, especially for the bedroom. Pricey for what you get though. The instructions are absolutely cryptic and useless. I'd love to know what the features are, but the instructions Klipsch provides won't tell you how to use them.

I Purchased these speakers "open box: Excellent" and they did not come with a power cord, remote, or speaker cable. They also came scuffed. I went into best buy and they said they couldnt help me with a partial refund for the missing parts. So I called Best Buy corporate and they said that they couldnt help me either and to go into the store. Overall terrible experience and I can't test the speakers without spending another $40. False marketing

I am sincerely very sorry to hear about the issue you've experienced with our powered speakers. AV receivers do require traditional passive speakers for connection, but my apologies for any misunderstanding!
