Not sure if it is this particular one that has issues, because I have another external from this same brand and it has served me for years satisfactorily without any problems, I just want a larger memory space hence my new purchase. It keeps disconnecting and reconnecting to my laptop, making it a nightmare to send any thing into it or vice versa. I would be returning it, immediately I return from my trip.

I shoot in both JPEG and RAW formats on each shot I take with my cameras. That equates to one 23MB file and one 6MB file with each shot. After each session I download all the files onto a laptop and back up all the new shots on the Lacie before I post process my favorites. The transfer speed is good and this unit is durable. I've had portable mass-storage drives fail before. Ironically it's usually the board and not the drive that gives up first. This unit is built strong enough that I just took it with me through Belgium and France without any thought of babying it. It can take a beating. I'm sold.

This is a great external harddrive. I keep purchasing these instead of external ssd's which are still a bit too expensive. I've had MANY external standard harddrives fail over the past few years- usually you knock them over one time or drop them even a few feet onto a carpeted floor and they stop working, but so far this model has been great!

I've used LaCie drives for many years because they're great for Storying my professional video recordings. But his particular product is great because it's rugged and I can transfer easily from one computer to another without running the risk of loosing data due to dropping accidents.

The LaCie - Rugged Triple 301984 1 TB External Hard Drive is a snap to use. I plugged the hard drive in & downloaded the driver & it was ready to rock. I'm a professional camera operator so dumping footage from CF Cards to a Hard Drive is essential part of my day. I just drag & drop & my footage is transferred without a problem. The rugged design makes it easy to carry in my backpack. I'm not worried if it bounces around & breaking in my bag because it is well protected. With a TB of space it holds a lot of video files that I can use for several jobs. This hard drive is what everyone in the Television & Entertainment business uses.

Fast and durable, I usually break these in my bag VERY quickly, this one has lasted longer than most and is still going. The set up software is a bit odd, probably easier to just use existing computer utilities.

I've purchased about a dozen of these drives for various employees. They have been reliable and perform well. The rubber bumpers seem to make them hold up better than some of the other external drives I've used. They are a bit pricey, but so far worth the cost.

I used this as a daily backup solution for a large video job a few months back. I was moving quickly and had to have a good drive that I trusted to house about half a terabyte a day. She fit the trick. And I felt better knowing its reinforced for shock. I obviously never tested this and I didn't treat it any differently than any other drive I own but it seems well constructed I've never had a lacie product die on me yet (knock on wood)

It worked. Have't drop it yet though. I got this because my old hard drive took a dive off my table due to my youngest running. I lost everything, it went to format hard drive mode. Yikes!!! I like this because it was drop proof. Others gave it good reviews stating that they ship it in the mail. I also like the fact that you don't have to plug it into the wall like my old one. Which is why it took a dive. This just plugs into the computer.

This drive is my 2nd of 3 backups of my images. It is rugged and fast. I love and need it.

This is the one and only external hard drive that we use for each and every tv production I work on. MTV, Discovery, NatGeo, Bravo, HGTV. Reliable, durable and user friendly. We use them to shuttle footage between he edit bays and the camera teams in the field.

The drive is fast and extremely portable. I highly recommend it.

I was told to buy this hard drive by my friend who is cinema major. He said pretty much everybody in his classes uses a Lacie. I ended up dropping the hard drive the day after I purchased it, and it worked perfectly fine. From what I understand this thing is practically indestructible.

This hard drive is useful and works great. I like how it is orange and stands out so I don't misplace it. It's also very durable. I dropped it a few times but luckily its padded on the sides the impact is reduced greatly.

This is the only type of drive I buy for important content that needs to be mailed, shipped, brought back and forth between different locations, etc. They have never failed me.

Nice ruggedly constructed housing for this HDD. I use USB to connect this HDD to my laptop as a backup drive. So far no issues aside from the HDD disconnecting from my laptop (usually when emerging from sleep mode), but the drive reacquires quickly.

I purchased this hard drive as a gift for my nephew. He wanted a hard drive that would withstand a tough environment and this hard drive fit his requirements. He is pleased with this product.

Exactly what I needed. Fast and durable yet portable.

I used this with a client who was having a failing hard drive. Needed a quick solution to backup his Windows device and this came in very handy. It is rugged so that the backups will be safe from abuse to the case.

So i am a freelance producer and neeed some hard drive to store all the video footage from the shoot... this worked great and the material transfered real fast.
