This album is suprerb and defines Alter Bridge

    Posted .

With their fifth album, Alter Bridge have found their sound yet again with an ever evolving signature that is hard to miss. The singer Myles Kennedy taking influence from his time with Slash and his solo project as well as Kennedies own solo recordings(yet to be released), and Mark Tremonti, the guitarist, taking his own heavy tones from HIS solo project(same as his last name) the two wrote some of the best that Alter Bridge has to offer. Adding to the songs are Scott "FLIP" Phillips on the drums to give them their kick and Brian Marshall on the Bass to give them their rumble. I will note that in my truck i have replaced my speakers and added in a 10 inch subwoofer... Both Flips drums and Brians thunder are heard. Let me be the first to say! And as a die hard AB fan to hear that an unreleased song "Breathe" from their 2004 album, One Day Remains is finally coming to light, I cant be more excited. Alter Bridge are back again to prove their merits, for thew songs show us to open our eyes and see whats not so black and white about the world, and to make it a better place for ourselves and our next generations to come.

    Different direction, same stellar result

Not that I had thought about what this album might sound like, but this album caught me off guard, and I love it. Alter Bridge changed their sound in this album, while building on the progressiveness that we first saw in Fortress. With a great mix of tempos and dynamics, and the superb, unrestricted songwriting of these four artists, The Last Hero keeps you on your toes. My top four (in no order) are: My Champion, Cradle to the Grave, This Side of Fate, and Island of Fools. Island of Fools hits you like a ton of bricks and I think it's their best up-tempo, heavy song to date. With this effort, Alter Bridge further solidifies themselves in a class of their own when it comes to American hard rock/metal of the 21st century.

Another great release from one of the genre's best

With Last Hero, Alter Bridge keeps up their legacy of innovative metal albums that are solid from start to finish. Aside from their initial album, which didn't differentiate enough from the Creed sound, every Alter Bridge album since has been exceptional, and Last Hero is NO exception to this rule. While the Last Hero doesn't quite reach the stellar quality of Blackbird, I would definitely say it is on par with ABIII - both of which have long been albums that I go back to on a regular basis. Much like the aforementioned albums, there's a great variety in the songs on Last Hero and Myles Kennedy's vocals are, as always, among the best in today's metal genre.

    Recognition Deserved

It still boggles my mind that Alter Bridge does not receive the acclaim in the U.S. that they so well deserve. You'll find them playing large halls and mega festivals all over the E.U. but upon returning home they are booked in rather small venues by comparison. This newest offering, while sounding rather political during the mixed emotional campaigns of 2016, continues to offer sound, meaty Rock N Roll for it's legion of fans. This is not pop music...this is not head banging metal music. It is solid, American Rock offered up by some of the most talented musicians of the genre today. Mark Tremonti's guitar chops clean yet relentless. Myles Kennedy's vocals continue to soar to the highest heights yet soften to a whisper at just the right times. Brian Marshall's solid bass lines and Scott Phillips' steady, punctual drumming form the foundation to make the band fly. Favorite tracks include "You Will Be Remembered", "My Champion", "Show Me A Leader" and "The Last Hero."

    Love me some Alter Bridge

So I've been an Alter Bridge fan since their beginning so i may not be the best person to review this. I love Myles Kennedy's voice and the band as a whole. Every time they come to town I'm there. If you like great rock music and song writing, you can't go wrong with this cd. The songs are a mix between heavy (not that heavy) with a few slower songs. It's great to listen to a song and be able to understand the lyrics. For new comers check out One Day Remains, AB 111, Blackbird, and don't miss Live from Amsterdam, to really appreciate this band. And if they come live to your town, don't miss them, they always put on a fantastic show.

Another great CD by Alter Bridge. I may be in a minority but I miss Creed, but over the years I've grown to like Alter Bridge a great deal and this is another strong CD, Tremonti sounds great, as does the rest of the band, well worth a listen.

This is Alter Bridge's most epic album yet! If you're a fan of their Blackbird and Fortress albums, then you'll love The Last Hero!!! They have stepped up their game in every aspect. The guitars are bigger than ever! Both Tremonti and Kennedy show of their solo skills throughout the album. Thank you Alter Bridge for making this album!

    A new era.

Most people don't realize that 3 out of the 4 band members are actually ex Creed members, out with Scott Stapp, add Myles Kennedy (lead vocals) and you have Alter Bridge which released their first album in 2004. This is their 5th album release and it is just awesome. Also a shout out to Mark Tremonti (lead guitar) who is one of the best guitar players today,He has released 3 albums of his own, I definetly recommend this great group of guys !

    Alter Bridge Does It Again

For fans of the band, and fans of melodically inspired heavy rock, this album is a must own. Alter Bridge never ceases to amaze and impress with their song composition, extremely tight and downright nasty guitar work, and lyrics that tackle today's important issues without diving into too much detail or becoming too politicized. I think it's their best work so far, right up there with Blackbird and Fortress.

May be their best album yet.

I have loved listening to the progression of this bands career! Every album has become better musically and lyrically as they've gone on. This record has an almost concept album feel (though by the bands admission it is not a concept album) due to the prevailing theme through it but without the ostentatious feeling that a true concept record has. A great record and certainly worthy of a listen.

Someday I hope to see AB Live

Yet another great AB disk. Same yet very different than previous works. Not surprised. Everyone in this band is fantastic musician-ship wise and I hope they continue to put out music that evolves. When Miles was touring with Slash and Mark put out his solo album, I was very nervous as to the future fate of AB. So pleased they continue to be a band and I hope to see them on the road!

    Great Album

Alter Bridge never seem to disappoint with any new music they release. This being their 5th album, they just seem to pick up where they left off with Fortress. The music is heavy, lyrics are thought-invoking and well written. I love Myles Kennedy's voice. He's such a powerful rock vocalist in my opinion. Highly recommended for any rock music enthusiast!!

    Solid record

    |
    Posted .

It is not as good as the first 3 albums, but overall it is solid. The first half of the record is much better than the second half. The second half seems to be somewhat filler. That said, where Fortress was a step into heaviness, this album brings back the sound of the first album. A must have for any Alter Bridge fan, even though it probably isn't as good as the first record, but I would say it is better than Fortress and on par with the 3rd album. Of course, Blackbird is still king of the catalog.

Ok I'm a huge fan of Alter Bridge, but this album is fantastic. The quality of the songs is beyond amazing, the sound is pure and typical to AB. On the best buy edition you benefit one more song as a bonus exclusive to best buy. The album sits somewhere in between ABIII and Fortress.
