This is a horrible computer, not worth the small amount it costs. It's slow, stupid, and just downright awful. Worst purchase I've ever made. It's an overpriced paperweight at this point.

I bought this off the "deal of the day" sale for a great price. I bought it for my daughter to put in her backpack to take to her college class. She's got a very expensive laptop she keeps at home, so this one is the no worries, basic classroom laptop, and it's definitely basic, but for what you pay, it's almost perfect. Nice build, good display for the price, good keyboard, and light weight. Probably a good size laptop to balance on your legs for use while riding the bus. The one drawback that drops it a star in the rating is the small amount of RAM. 2GB? Really? But the truth is, that might be a good thing in my daughter's case. She has a bad habit of having a lot of tabs open in her browser--Youtube, etc.--which only distract her from her schoolwork--so little RAM will keep her focused, I hope. The nice thing about this laptop compared to similar ones--including another version of the same one--is the 64GB of flash memory. That was the major selling point. You definitely need more than the 32GB you see in the competition. Just doing the upgrade process in the latest Windows 10 hit that 32gb before I whittled it down a little. One year subscription of Office is a great extra, too. Perfect for that first year of college.

Thank you for choosing the Lenovo IdeaPad 100s-14 laptop for your daughter. The IdeaPad 100s-14 uses Windows 10 Home 32-bit operating system, which requires less that 1GB of RAM to run. We are pleased to hear that the IdeaPad 100s-14 is working out for your daughter. lenovo

Do not buy this laptop as a primary computer unless you only check facebook and emails. Runs slow & can't handle some heavy graphic sites. Speakers are very low, can't hear anything clearly even if I am right in front of it. Very basic, but for the price it's great ! I'm using this as a student . I will use it on campus to write reports but when I come back home I will primarily be on my desktop. Can't beat the price.

First, I want to say that I've got 2 years of experience with an HP Stream 13 which is a similar laptop of the same class as this one; I knew what I was getting into with this Lenovo. The build of this laptop is more premium than the price would indicate. It does not look or feel cheap at all. Speakers are utilitarian but get the job done. Keyboard could have bit more travel and feel a bit less harsh, but I can't really complain at this price. It's nice and light. The trackpad works just fine; it doesn't seem to support gestures like two-finger scroll but then again I tend to always attach a mouse. I like the glossy screen vs. the matte on many others of this class. The display is not going to be suitable for things like serious photo editing or design work where colors need to be discerned accurately, but it gets the job done otherwise. It has a 180 degree hinge, in other words it can opened so it is flat, but I'm not sure what the purpose is for that. It's got a grown-up and business-like appearance unlike the HP Streams. The 64GB of storage is just right for this type of laptop. Many laptops in this class have 32GB which is simply not enough: space quickly becomes a problem even for system updates and it must be constantly managed. This laptop would be a homerun for the price if it had 4GB ram instead of 2GB. This limits performance a bit, but it can be managed. To get decent performance, you just have to know that you're not going to be able to run more than 1, maybe 2, major applications at the same time. It's a similar situation with browser tabs: as you approach 4 open tabs things are going to bog down. That said, YouTube plays just fine. I've run Word, VPN, and remote desktop without issue. I've improved performance a bit by adjusting performance settings to turn off animations and translucency effects. I also got another bump in performance by turning off search indexing; it's really not necessary on a system of this type where you should really be storing your documents in the cloud on Google Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox, etc. anyway. This is a great value-oriented second system for those of us who only need occasional portability. However, I would not recommend it as a daily driver as I believe frustration with the limitations would tend to mount; better to jump up to something in at least the $300-$350 range if this is to be a primary system for you.

I've relied pretty solely on an HP chromebiok for my needs for the last several years. I love how fast they are. Going back to school, I needed something with access to real Microsoft products and this covered exactly what I needed at a great price. It won't replace my chromebook for everyday use, but it def does what I need it to when those papers and PowerPoints come due

...it's only got 2GB RAM and the RAM cannot be upgraded. It came with Windows 10 Home 64-bit. Otherwise, it's a perfectly good laptop for anyone who does only the basics--word processing and some web browsing--and it's a solid build with good features. It's also got AC wireless which is a nice plus. Definitely get this version with 64GB of flash memory instead of the 32GB version. You'll need at least 32GB just for the system after updates. Here's a tip: after the recent Windows 10 "Creator's" update, there will be a large file on your drive called "$GetCurrent." It can be safely deleted. Do a Google search for more info. It was about 5GB on the drive in my Lenovo, so deleting it freed up a lot of space. Right now you can also get a Sandisk 16GB USB thumbdrive at BestBuy for $5 which you can use to make a backup disk for this laptop--always smart to do right away.

It feels like it came from 1990's.. Very sure why Best Buy discontinued. Lenovo should be ashamed of themselves. I own a ThinkPad pro that I love. I can't believe they put their name on this.
