Thank you for choosing the Lenovo IdeaCentre 300s Desktop. We are sorry to hear that the IdeaCentre 300s is not meeting your expectations for speed. This system should be a fast system with its Core I-5 processor and 8GB of RAM. Be sure any software you installed is compatible with Windows 10. There is no need to install Microsoft Office software. The software is already part of the operating system, you just need to activate the software with a purchased product key. If you have installed a copy of Microsoft Office, this is conflicting with the existing copy on the system and this will slow your system down. If you have installed a 3rd party anti-virus program, be sure that Windows Defender is turned off and that the trial version of McAfee Anti-Virus software is uninstalled. There can only be one anti-virus program on the system. You may need to restore your system to original factory default settings if any of the programing errors has occurred. You can do that by typing "restore" in the Cortana search window. Just click on the magnifying glass icon at the bottom left of your Windows 10 Desktop. Click on "Reset This PC" Then click on "Get Started" and follow the on screen directions to restore to factory defaults. We hope this helps.

It took many days to download and install updates when I brought it home. The Internet was also very slow and some sites would not load. During updates, at one point, the screen looked like a multi-colored strobe. This was the second one I bought because I thought the first was defective. I returned both, I will never buy a Lenovo product again!

Worst product ever - didn't turn on after setup. Exchanged for a new one and encountered similar issue (stopped responding while setting up). Can't deal with this nonsense so I returned it for a full refund. Never buying this brand again. It's not worth the headache.

We are sorry to hear that you are having an issue with your Lenovo IdeaCentre 300s Desktop. Something you might try, turn your device completely off. Then boot the system up. Before Windows starts, repeatedly hit the F2 key. This should take you to the OneKey Recovery System. Here you will be able to restore your system to factory default, then you can start over from the beginning and set up your system again. Since both systems loaded once but wouldn't load again, check the software that you loaded on to the system. Be sure all software is compatible with Windows 10. Do not install Microsoft Office as the software is already installed as part of the operating system. You need to only activate the Microsoft Office Software with an Activation Key that you purchase (if you have a copy of Microsoft Office 2010 or newer and want to use this on this system, there should be a product key on the software box). If you are installing a 3rd party anti-virus software, be sure Windows Defender is turned off and the trial version of McAfee on the system is uninstalled before you install any other anti-virus software. There can only be one anti-virus program on the device. We hope this helps.

I bought this desktop to give to my dad for Christmas and after reading other reviews I got nervous about it not working so I opened the box and booted it up. Thankfully it worked great! Got everything set up for him so it will be ready to go out of the box! PC has good speed for doing basic tasks like streaming, email, and Office.

Good computer but there is a bad batch

I bought two for my office and had to return one. The one computer seems great and haven't had any issues. Quick start up and handles everything we need. The second one had video card issues right out of the box. Best buy has a good return policy. Full refund. I think its a good computer with good hardware for the price but based on other reviews and my own experience, there definitely seems to be a bad batch of them floating around. I would recommend if you know there's a chance you will get a bad one and need to swap it out. That might not be okay for some but again for the price and hardware it is a good buy if you get a good one.

upgraded proc only makes it better. I've now purchased 22 of these and they are awesome. You can't beat the $300 price for hardware that otherwise costs $500+ at CDW and other places from Lenovo.

Great Spec, with a bad Disk !

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
Bought it on the sale for a very attractive price. The Spec was (i5 & DDR3L) was very attractive for the price point. Bought it and had it run for a day to let the OS do its own things.
The machine stands upto its spec and passmark tool gives a great percentile for this model. However I had a "Grinding" disk noise constantly coming out of the PC. Noise stayed on even after 2 days. I wasnt running any program and still Disk was grinding.
It was too scary to lose the disk. So I had returned this one.

Item arrived 11/29. Less than 45 minutes after setting it up, it died. As another reviewer mentioned, our computer also started flashing colors. We were unable to reboot. Customer Service at our local Best Buy was excellent. They had a replacement in stock. I've just set up the replacement. Fingers are crossed.
Overall, the $399 package was a fantastic deal. The computer looks nice. Easy set up. I just hope our first experience isn't repeated. I would hesitantly recommend this item.

So far I have been happy with my Desktop. Small factor, worked right out of the box. Set up was quick. My only complain is that Lenovo comes with a lot of unnecessary and unwanted SW that Lenovo puts on their machines.

Bought one of these on a Black Friday sale and loved the price. I saw the reviews from others about how they bought one of these and it died quickly but I presumed those were just flukes rather than the norm. Mine performed well initially and then after a week it would freeze on boot up and nothing I tried could get it working again. Took it back to Best Buy and they let me exchange it for another one (Best Buy was very nice about this). Took the new one home and it lasted five hours before going to a screen of colors and dying as well. Lemon Mk 2 is currently boxed up waiting to be returned so I can go shop for a better computer that can actually survive basic setup.

I just bought this model yesterday, Jan 21, 2017 because it was on sale. So far so good, except for some minor hiccup installing it. Now, my question to Lenovo, if they would see this comment, please let me know how I can create a RECOVERY DISC on a DVD or CD (not USB cause I don't want to have to buy one). Please respond.

Avoid This Computer!!

My family purchased this computer for my parents during the Black Friday sale in 2016. We set up the computer and within 10 min the screen started flashing a whole bunch of crazy colors (see other reviews about this problem). This problem would randomly happen and we were worried about it getting worse. We took it back to Best Buy and traded it in for another computer of the same model. It ended up doing the same thing. We are very frustrated with this poor quality. Read the reviews from others; this does not seem to be an isolated problem.

Your issue with the flashing screen sound like a Windows 10 automatic update that is conflicting with older drivers within the system. There may be driver updates for your specific system. Follow the link below to look for new driver updates for your specific system. You can also run diagnostics from the Lenovo site as well. As always, be sure to create a restore point on your system before you make any changes. You can do this by just typing "restore point" in the search window within Cortana and follow the link to create a restore point. No connection to internet = useless

Bought the computer for my 8 yr old daughter for Christmas. Had to return the first after talking with Lenovo customer service. Now have the second one, and has the same issue, will not connect properly to the internet, which does not allow registration or upgrades. "One or more internet protocols missing". Now I am sitting around waiting for a call from Lenovo because they say I only have in home support, They are supposed to call someday to set up an in house support appointment. Very disappointing, 3 weeks after Christmas, still no solution.
