Thank you for choosing the Lenovo IdeaPad L340-15 laptop for your daughter. This is a mid-level, moderate use configuration, with its AMD Ryzen 3 3200U processor. This Dual-Core processor has a base speed of 2.6GHz and a boost speed of up to 3.5GHz. This configuration has 8GB of DDR4-2400MHz RAM. It is good with Microsoft Office type programs, internet browsing and other moderate work. This model ships with Windows 10 S-Mode Operating System. Windows 10 S-Mode provides added security by only allowing APPs available ( and therefore certified by Microsoft) at the Microsoft Store. If you don't need the added security or you need to install APPs not available at the Microsoft Store, you can switch to standard Windows 10 Home 64-bit Operating System, at no additional cost. Got this laptop to replace a 2009 eMachines...bought this for the amount of RAM and DVD drive. System is running Win 10 Home 64 bit and is as fast as can be. The laptop is only used to surf and play videos so for that, I have no complaints on the performance. Maybe the only complaint is the DVD drive eject button is VERY recessed, but other than that, great system for light use...I wouldnt try running any high performance software as it might bog down even the 8 GB of RAM on this system.

Was looking for a laptop for our daughter for Christmas. Wanted to find something within budget, but that had a decent amount of memory. When I ran across this I was very happy. Had double the amount of memory for the same price and less than most others.

So far so good. I've had this laptop for about 9 months and the only complaint I have is the touchpad. Even if I adjust the sensitivity, it's still to sensitive so I purchased a digital mouse. Also, the keys on the touchpad are too small and to far to the left. It's annoying but I can deal with it.

Too Slow, replacement for broken Len IP 330

I got the Lenovo Ideapad 330 15 November 2018, no problems at all, fast enough for me. Accidentally broke screen September 2019. Thought Lenovo IP L340 was the same thing 10 months later - Wrong. I should have read the Tech Reviews as they are dead on correct. My setup is: AMD Ryzen 3 3200U Radeon Vega 3 1TB HDD 8gb Memory DVD RW **NO MicroSD slot Floor Associate at Best Buy told me the opposite of the last two Yes on the MicroSD slot (which I use extensively) Negative on the DVD RW, which like most I rarely to never use.. so to my shock upon unpacking I find the opposite. Ok, well this was the ONLY laptop in the under $500 range I could find and I needed it today, I looked for 3 days prior. Now the major complaint I have is that the unit, just as the reviews say, is extremely slow when doing things. Not only when i multitasking, but simple lone tasks as well. My drive is not overloaded, I have premium Wifi service but despite all factors, the AMD is just plain slow, too slow, I often wait several seconds for the thing to advance. Now that may sound absurd but that instant is the standard we live by today for even mid-range computers. And its constantly taking that much time, not occasionally, Its like the days of Win98 or 3.1 or what ever back in 1998. Not at all cool, imagine your self waiting several seconds at every major computing function. Difficult to upgrade is what I've read, even if it wasn't, I'm not into buying something new then immediately spending a couple hundred or 30-50% more to get it the way it should have been on day one. I've used it for almost a month now and it's just not up to par with even my 2nd previous (2016 purchase) HP laptop

The Lenovo IdeaPad L340-15 laptop is a mid-level, moderate use configuration, with its AMD Ryzen 3 3200U processor. This Dual-Core processor has a base speed of 2.6GHz and a boost speed of up to 3.5GHz. This configuration has 8GB of DDR4-2400MHz RAM. The IdeaPad L340-15 will boot from off to the Windows 10 desktop in less than 40-sconds and will load a file or program in less than 15-seconds. If you are experiencing slower performance, be sure any software you installed is compatible with Windows 10. There is no need to install Microsoft Office software. The software is already part of the operating system, you just need to activate the software with a purchased product key. If you have installed a copy of Microsoft Office, this is conflicting with the existing copy on the system and this will slow your system down. If you have installed a 3rd party anti-virus program, be sure that Windows Defender is turned off and that the trial version of McAfee Anti-Virus software is uninstalled. There can only be one anti-virus program on the system. You may need to restore your system to original factory default settings if any of the programing errors have occurred. You can do that by typing "restore" in the Cortana search window. Just click on the magnifying glass icon at the bottom left of your Windows 10 Desktop. Click on "Reset This PC" Then click on "Get Started" and follow the on screen directions to restore to factory defaults. If the problem persists, we recommend you contact Lenovo Tech Support at: 877-453-6686. Lenovo

I love everything about this laptop except for the battery. It advertises an 8 hour battery life which was not true for mine. Before starting it up I charged it fully. The first time I turned my laptop on full battery said 4 hours of use. As long as I keep it plugged in it's not an issue.

The Lenovo IdeaPad L340-15 laptop, model number 81LW005PUS, ships with a 3CELL_36WH_INTERNAL, Lithium Polymer Battery, with a battery life of up to 8 hours, depending on the work the device is performing. If you are only getting 4 hours of battery life, first, be sure any software you installed is compatible with Windows 10. Incompatible software will drain your battery at a faster rate. There is no need to install Microsoft Office software. The software is already part of the operating system, you just need to activate the software with a purchased product key. If you have installed a copy of Microsoft Office, this is conflicting with the existing copy on the system and this will slow your system down. If there is no incompatible software installed on the computer, be sure Battery Saver Mode is tuned off on the computer. Here is a link to instructions for turning off Battery Saver Mode:  https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/solutions/ht117144. Finally, to maximize battery life, first adjust your battery saver settings. Here is a link to instruction for doing this in Windows 10:  https://www.digitalcitizen.life/how-use-configure-battery-saver-windows-10. Next, to maximize battery life, be sure there are no unwanted programs running in the background, draining the battery. Here is a link to some tips for finding out what is draining your battery:
https://www.laptopmag.com/articles/battery-saver-windows-10. Also, to maximize battery life, try changing your power management setting to a more conservative one. You can do this in the control panel, in the power management category on your system. Select a more conservative power management setting to extend battery life. Finally, if the battery life does not improve, a battery reset may help. Here is a link to instructions for reconditioning a non-removable battery, using the Battery Management Software installed on the computer. This laptop is super slow. It takes forever just for it to load windows and by the time that happens it's time to charge it, which takes forever and a day. This is the second laptop I've returned this week. The first one didn't have enough storage and this one is too slow for my liking. FOR THOSE THATA DIDN'T KNOW(I was one of you lol): SSD (Solid State Drive) is much faster than HDD (Hard Disk? Drive) due to all of the "gears" in the hdd. 8gb vs 4gb (8gb being higher) seems to help with speed.

I looked at a couple of HPs for $550 and $650 but they had crappy screens. I noticed this one but the didn't like that it didn't have an ssd. So I bought the Samsung evo860 and put it in this machine after purchase. Now it's got the speed I was looking at in higher models but still under $500 in price. The only gripe I have with this one now is the screen is "so so" quality. You must view it straight on but it does 90% of what I want and have under $500 in it. If you aren't tech savvy maybe move up to one with an ssd. If you are tech savvy just buy an ssd and upgrade the hard drive in this one after activating Windows on this machine.

Has many nice features. Downside, the windows version was the new “safe-mode” version. & no where does it tell you that there is a key/button To turn on camera in addition to the sliding shutter

I would recommend this to a friend
