Don't buy the Yoga 14. I made the mistake of thinking the other bad reviews about the Yoga shutting down when you moved the screen and other issues would have been taken care of. Not the case. This unit shuts down simply by moving the screen, unplugging the power adapter or all on it's own at it's own pleasure. If they get it fixed, this is worth about half the price of what they charge for it and Lenovo service hasn't been stellar with other products I own.
This is the last Lenovo product I will be buying, ever!

The key pad is terrible and jumps all over the place, even magically erases text at times. It also makes too much noise when you use it and the keyboard. I am not impressed.

I've not been a fan of Lenovo, but this device has changed my mind. Seems sturdy and I like the way the screen flips around.

This notebook is well built and made to withstand the wear and tear of a high shcool and college student who is carrying thier computer back and forth to class. It is made for homework, write papers, search the internet and as result, the specs are focused on these functions.

Window 8.1 sucks

The Windows 8.1 touch screen function malfunctions repeatedly: unresponsive to touch; screen changes spontaneously to another screen or app; closing screen clumsy and sometimes fails; instructions ;inadequate; far too many and redundant apps; apps often unstable. A real mess formoderately killful user. Tries to do too much in the name of customization. Made by programers paid by the number of code lines. Windows 10 better be better or I'm joining my wife in Apple Land.

More time with Geek Squad than with me

This has proved to be a disappointing purchase that has spent more time with the Geek Squad than with me. It is there now, so I'm having to use the family desktop to respond. I purchased this to replace another laptop that had cracked when it fell on the floor. The other one was set up and worked fine until that unfortunate accident, but this one (also a Lenovo) is a disaster.
Cannot offer a photo, sorry, the laptop is back in the shop!

Bloat ware

i had a Lenovo laptop a few years ago and unfortunately forgot about all the bloatware that Lenovo uses. I replaced an iPad and an HP laptop with this Yoga and it is not what I hoped for. It is slow, the mouse pad is difficult to use and when you flip the screen to work like a tablet, Intel slows the processor so videos hang or slow down. I would not recommend to anyone. Probably the biggest waste of hard earned money I can recall.

You would think! After about two weeks the laptop would not connect to the internet, even though it connected to the local WIFI. After a brief conversation with Lenovo the laptop has been returned for warranty repair. I will say Lenovo customer service was and continues to be outstanding! Regarding would I recommend to a friend, the jury is still out.

I loved the idea of this computer. On paper it is fantastic and it's body is very sexy. However I bought and returned two models before settling on a macbook. The first one turned off overtime I moved it, and the second froze up overtime I moved it. They should have fixed these bugs. If they had I would still have it and be even happier.

We had to return two Lenovo units within 90 days due to bad hard drives that could not be recovered. Same model and twice burned. Would not recommend until these issues are resolved. Would like to hear from Lenovo on this issue.

Excellent All-Around Laptop for work and play

After spending weeks looking at laptops at both Best Buy and On-Line, I finally pulled the trigger and purchased this one. It was the right decision. My requirements were an IPS screen larger than 13", a nice keyboard and dedicated graphics. All three are top notch in the Yoga 14.
The screen is definitely the standout here. IPS screens are generally wonderful, with great viewing angles and clarity. The display used here is top of the line in the IPS category. Many reviews on-line elude to the colors and hues being nearly spot-on for Photoshop and image editing. For the normal user (me) that translates into realistic colors and images the "pop". Additionally, the resolution is 1920x1080. Unlike the other Yoga 13.3" Ultrabooks with QHD screens, Windows scaling looks great here. Text isn't too small and non-native applications scale perfectly. On the higher resolution QHD screens, scaling is an issue.
The AccuType keyboard is wonderful. This is a ThinkPad, so it was to be expected. Typing is a pleasure.
Keys have a good bit of travel (a good thing) and with exception of the reversed Ctrl and Fn keys, the layout makes sense. I do wish the back-light was a bit brighter though.
Dedicated graphics are perfect for older games and newer games run fine with some lowered settings.
Also, this laptop uses Nvidia's NATIVE DRIVERS!!! So, you can go directly to Nvidia's site to grab updated driver packages, versus waiting for Lenovo to create a custom package for this laptop, This is HUGE and should be considered when looking at other laptops with dedicated graphics that require manufacturer drivers.!
The Achilles heel of this unit is the hard drive. It's pokey. I knew this going in and had a Samsung EVO SSD waiting at home to swap it out. THIS should also be a major consideration if you plan to purchase this laptop.
With the SSD in, EVERYTHING is now instant. Don't get me wrong, this laptop is plenty fast without it, but with it, it's a rocket ship.
I don't have any of the "turning itself off" issues that a few others have reported. That sounds like a hardware issue to me.
Anyway, I can't recommend this laptop enough. It's UGLY, but it's a workhorse that knows how to play. :-)

Great Laptop!!

I purchased the Lenovo Yoga 14 shortly after Thanksgiving 2014 and have waited until now, March 2015 to review it publicly. I researched a lot of laptops before buying and settled on this one for a lot of reasons. They include the optimal size for me of a 14 inch screen, the yoga configurations, the weight (not too light and not too heavy), the durability (its the only one sold at Best Buy with military specs), the keyboard (love the key travel, much better feel than most other laptops and equal to those from Apple), the screen (great clarity, pixel density, color perfection, and brightness without any problems with content sizing on websites), cool factor (love the Thinkpad red dot and black mat finish that does not show finger prints ), the conservative black image it gives off. I will also say that after three months with the unit, I am very satisfied with its speed. Each and every instruction is carried out almost instantly. It is a very fast and enjoyable experience using the unit. If there is any one thing I was concerned about in getting this laptop, it was that it is the single most expensive I5 chip unit out there. I guess I had myself set on getting a unit with an I7 chip in it so I was somewhat hesitant in getting this one. However, after using it I have not found that I would have actually realized more speed in most of the applications I work with had I gotten an I7 unit. So the extra expense of an I7 would have been wasted in my case. And the other features of the unit outweighed this deficiency. Overall it is a great laptop, durable, fast, and fun to use. I do not mind the Windows 8.1 system and for those that do, you can get a free alteration to Windows 7. I did have a brief problem with the Norton trial security software that came on the computer. However as soon as I deleted it and installed the free Webroot CD security system, my problem was solved. Now a word about a few of the posted reviews. 1. It does have a backlit display. The person that posted saying that it does not has not discovered that you need to press Fn and space bar to turn it on. 2. All laptops are mass produced and a few bad ones cans slip thru for any unit out there. If you get a bad one, take it back.3. Lenovo Yoga 14 is military spec unit and should hold up just fine and better than most others. 4. Most units sold retail do not have TSP chips so if you need one with a security chip, special order it. It does have security software that should be adequate for most people unless one is carrying the nuclear launch codes or plans for world domination. . 5. It does do mirror casting but you need to have a TV that can receive it. Hope all this helps those shopping for a laptop.

Great Quality Thinkpad Machine

Excellent at five stars or good at four stars, definitely better than good and ALMOST excellent. Build quality is excellent, keyboard is excellent and track pad is very good, performance is good. Here's my thoughts:
I wanted a quality windows portable and Lenovo was, and typically is, the only choice for me. I bought the YP3 but it's performance was quite dreadful and the keyboard/track pad were pretty unusable, screen was also too hi-res - returned it to Best Buy for a YP2 - great performance but the same issues with the key board and track pad and screen (for me anyway). Decided to compromise on portability and returned the YP2 to Best Buy and got the Thinkpad Yoga. Awesome machine ... beautifully built (which is reflected in the weight) ... great screen and key board. Minor gripes :
- Would have preferred an I7
- Track pad dragging when copying has me a bit flummuxed, doesn't "let go" when I lift my finger.
- Fn key is where I expect the Crtl ... copy / paste is a bit of a challenge.
Overall - TPY - excellent - 4.75 stars
Overall - Best Buy - excellent - 5 stars customer service. They live up to their return if not fully satisfied.
If Victor Kiam bought one of these he might even ....
