You don't see many reviews for dj's for this laptop but works very well for it. Especially the graphics card for video's that use.

    Excellent Mid-High Range Gaming Laptop

I bought this almost a month ago, and it has been an excellent product so far. Pros: For this price range, it has some of the most impressive performance in game than I have seen out of any other machine. Its JBL speakers are absolutely booming, with the addition of a sub woofer, these speakers are the best I've heard out of a laptop so far. The touch screen is nice and responsive. The back lit keyboard is my favorite layout in a laptop, as it includes a shortened NUMPAD0 key, and full size arrow keys, where many laptops choose to shorten the arrow up key. The key travel is great, and its a very satisfying keyboard to use. The track pad is a soft matte that is pleasant to use, and I haven't had any skipping or anything of the sort. The touch screen comes with a semi matte finish that is, in my opinion, wonderful. It cuts reflection by a massive amount, and its viewing angles are great. The 960M, 8GB of RAM and Core i7 6700HQ in my model crushed the mid range titles I threw at it. I have run about 90 hours of GTA V at near maxed settings, with about 50fps consistently. I appreciate the inclusion of a single 8GB DIMM of RAM, allowing for expansion to 16GB by buying only one DIMM, instead of replacing both. I also appreciate the inclusion of an M.2 drive slot, which I filled pretty quickly. Its I/O is very good as well. Cons: The screen is very noticeably lacking in color accuracy. Comparing it to a TV that I connected via HDMI was worlds different, but don't worry, it it completely unnoticeable when you are gaming on the laptop. Do not use this laptop for color accurate work (it measures 66% Adobe RGB). The battery life is not stellar, but its impressive for this range of laptop. You can expect an hour and a half while gaming on battery, and about 5 hours of browsing and media streaming on battery. Do not use this laptop if you depend on full day battery life. You can expect some Lenovo bloatware, but nothing bad compared to other products that I have seen. Notes: The soft matte finish on the majority of the machine gets smudgy very easily, so it requires cleaning now and again. The red back lighting DOES NOT change, if you do not like red, don't buy this laptop. It turns all the way off, but if you want any back lighting, it is red. When gaming heavily, there is some noticeable fan noise. There is also some obvious throttling happening, but nothing major that caused problems for me. If you are torn on the touch screen, I recommend that you get it. It is wonderful for media viewing when you are on the couch at that awkward angle :). Overall, this laptop is excellent for the student who wants the performance to play almost any game without giving up the portability of a laptop. An excellent and pleasing product that I would recommend to anyone.

I shopped around for a long time before pulling the trigger on this one after BB had a good sale price. I specifically wanted a decent gaming laptop with a minimum 960M video card and the ability to install a m.2 SSD for the system drive. The i7 cpu is a beast and the 960M is sufficient for my gaming needs. I didn't need something crazy powerful and with the sale, I got this thing sub $800 out the door tax included. That gave me breathing room to purchase a Samsung 950 Pro m.2 PCI-e SSD and 2 sticks of 8GB DDR4-2400 ram (it comes with a pair of 4gb DDR4-2133 installed) Critical step to getting the system to boot off the new SSD is to install the Samsung driver BEFORE cloning the 1tb drive. I learned that the hard way and wasted hours befuddled. It so much faster now, but not utilizing the full 2500 GB/s bandwidth. I get about 1500 GB/s r/w but still light-speed faster then mechanical drive. I use the 1TB drive as storage, but it is so incredibly slow that I plan to ditch it for an SATA SSD. I'll sacrifice a little storage space for more speed, less heat and power consumption. Keyboard has a nice tactical feel and the weight/size is good for it's purpose. I use a MacBook Pro for work, but not a fair comparison for the price point. Speakers are really good for a laptop and the way it vents out heat is done very well. It is a fingerprint magnet though for the case, so I'm constantly wiping it down. Lenovo bloatware is annoying, I will most likely do a fresh clean install of the OS. I dislike many features of Win10 (privacy invasion anyone?) and you need to take multiple steps to mitigate it. Google "windows 10 privacy" and you'll see what I'm talking about. In conclusion, catch a sale and you can't beat the bang for the buck. I'm happy with the purchase. Just be ready to put in a little work if you want to get maximize it's potential and protect yourself from M$ tracking. The main knock is more OS and not the hardware.

    A Great Gaming Laptop!

We initially bought a MacBook Pro. While the SSD on the MacBook was awesome, my wife was unable to utilize many programs Windows can. Gaming was another issue. The Lenovo Y700 works excellent! It charges really fast, and I'm loving the 4 GB of Video memory! It did only have 8 GB of RAM, however, it is expandable to 16GB. The speakers are AMAZING. My wife and I enjoy watching movies. It has a little sub-woofer on the bottom that gives it extra bass. All in all, it's a great laptop. You're also getting a 6th Gen Intel Skylake processor - I7-6700hq.

I bought this computer for pure gaming while it was on sale. I bought it for around $900 after taxes and shipping. This is a great computer. You aren't going to be able to run games on the highest settings, but you can play most current games at a solid 60 FPS on medium-high settings. I play a lot of Overwatch and this computer can run it smoothly at 70 FPS on high settings. Don't overdo your expectations. Be realistic with what your buying. It's not an Alienware laptop or a powerful tower build, so you aren't going to get the best performance on the highest settings. If you want a cheaper gaming laptop that can run a lot of games on med-high settings, this is a great buy. The touch screen is really nice too.

The Y700 Will run your steam Library

This computer does the job you would expect. Runs all the video editing software I needed and all my steam games run great on this computer. I was real sketchy as I have always been a desktop guy but the specs in these laptops such as this Lenovo y700 really make the switch a easy choice if your looking for a mobile platform. My only knock on the computer and this is a "pc" problem in general is all the bloatware that is preinstalled from windows and lenovo. You really have to do some cleanup duty to make it run optimal. Nothing more than uninstalling unwanted programs but I hate that PCs do this on everything. When I bought this the best buy employee told me he heard these run hot. That is not true that was true with the Y50 models but this model stays cool and when the fans cut on they are drained out by the great JBL audio that it has so its a non issue. Only Cons I have are minor, but the black allows for fingerprints to show easily and the ports are too close together so it can be problematic if you're usb's are larger... But nothing major to complain about. If you're in the market for a laptop that can run the latest games in high to medium settings this guy does the trick... You wont be disappointed. Games I've played on this are: Witcher 3 Wild Hunt (High Settings) Diablo 3 (High Settings) TF2 (High Settings) Heartstone Left for Dead 2 (high) Metro (Medium) Heroes of the storm (High) no issues on these games in these settings

After reading several reviews on here before making my purchase I was skeptical to buy this laptop for gaming since it did have some reviews about driver issues. I did buy this as an open box so it was a bit cheaper than the asking price. I have to say to say for the money this laptop is great. After deleting all of lenovos bloat ware that was slowing this system down a lot it picked up in speed and works great. I play witcher 3 on here at 60 fps on medium settings. The which still looks amazing not to mention I've tried blade and soul, wow, mmgs th phantom pain, crysis 3 and many other games and it still gives me about 60 fps at high or medium settings. Overall it's a great gaming laptop for the price. I do strongly recommend deleting all of the factory installed bloat ware as soon as you turn it on. It makes you his pic run a lot better without all that other stuff running in the background.

    Great laptop but has defects

Everything seems to work fine. Great game play, screen resolution is nice but it lacks brightness level. Overall great laptop but i cant give it five stars because in the 2 1/2 months that i've owned it, it has crashed with the blue screen of death randomly at least 6 times. Now, i know its not the elite tier laptop but for someone that paid over 1200 for the laptop after taxes, i'm very disappointed at the fact that it crashes the way it does. I literally freaked out the first time that it crashed as i was writing a paper for school and "My pc ran into a problem" screen came on followed by a function less restart that ask you to chose how to boot the system on a unresponsive keyboard. The only away i could fix this is by force shutting it off again and restarting it again. I would have rather gone a different way instead of constantly worrying about when my laptop is going to crash again.

A computer for college, work, and gaming equally

This computer is a fantastic addition to my collection of electronics. I use a laptop for work, college classes, and for gaming when I find the time (oh how I miss those late night gaming sessions of the bygone era of my youthful teenage years...) and this one delivers in spades for each of those categories. For the price, I think this computer goes beyond what I'd expect for gaming and for running simulation software. It isn't going to run the latest releases in Ultra HD 4K 3-D Occulus Rift glory, but if you don't mind dropping the resolution down to standard HD 1080p and settling for medium quality graphics, even the latest releases play at a very respectable frame rate. For those gamers curious, running a standard 3DMark DirectX 12 benchmark test (Fire Strike I believe was the one ran) this computer clocks in around the 50th percentile. When the cost of the computer is compared to the cost of those computers above it (sometimes as much as 2 or 3 times more money for only a small performance increase) I think the performance versus the value easily wins the day (especially for gamers on a college budget).

Wonderful little powerhouse of a laptop

I initially bought this laptop to replace my desktop while it was in the shop for three weeks getting hardware replaced. So far, this laptop has performed better than the high-end desktop has! It's able to handle computer games, videos, and everything else without lagging at all, and it has an incredible amount of memory. Really the only downfall is that you can't put CDs in it, but it does come with a USB connected CD reader, so you can get all your music onto the laptop that way. I'm also not a fan of the touchpad. I'm used to the pad, but I'm used to the pad ending in large buttons at the bottom to click on things. With this one, the buttons are part of the pad itself, and you can still move the cursor while clicking. It can make things a little difficult, so I just bypassed that issue by getting a wireless mouse. Overall, this laptop is a powerhouse and has a neat sleek design. It's also pretty sturdy. I accidentally bumped it and knocked it off the bed at one point with the lid up, and it didn't phase the laptop at all.

    Really nice machine- TERRIBLE TRACKPAD

I've only had this machine a month (plan to update review eventually), but I really love it. Boots fast on Windows 10 and runs my games on ultra graphics without an issue (For example: Elder Scrolls Online, Minecraft with a really high chunk radius). Laptop is really beautifully designed and comfortable to use EXCEPT FOR THE TRACK PAD. Luckily I hate trackpad using unless absolutely necessary so I use a gaming mouse, but when I have used the trackpad I hate it. The buttons to click with are also part of the pad so while clicking your cursor slides off what you were trying to click unless you click the pad in the right spot. The Track-pad is also easily bumped by my palm while gaming sometimes (accidentally slice at important NPC surrounded by guards anyone?). Really surprised that such a nice laptop would have such a horrible trackpad feature. Luckily most gamers aren't big on using trackpads. That being said this laptop really blazes and the screen is bright crisp and beautiful. The touch screen is responsive and easy to use. This laptop has just enough USB ports (2 on one side, 1 on the other which is nice). Power cable is nicely designed (rectangle plug so it wont spin around in the port). Back-lit keyboard is bright and really aesthetically pleasing. Right side of the laptop under the keyboard does get a tad bit warm but nothing I would be really worried about (laptop bottom has a little bump to help keep the laptop propped up for ventilation even on flat surfaces which is nice). I've gamed on it for 6-8 hours at a time with no problems and it doesn't go beyond a certain level of warmth (wont burn your hands or anything) Can I just take a second to note how wonderful the sound is on this machine? By far the best sound I've ever heard from a laptop. I'm usually not one to concern myself with sound quality but after using this laptop I am so thrilled with it. The sound is not tinny or laptop sounding, it sounds like it comes from a desktop speaker system, really lovely sound. Just as a note both the brushed metal top and the keyboard area FINGERPRINT LIKE CRAZY. You will never keep this thing looking spotless, never. But other than that it's a really lovely machine. I would recommend this to any gamer. At the time I bought this, they were able to price match to New Egg for 100 cheaper than sticker price, definitely double check that before buying. Also a CD/DVD external drive COMES IN THE BOX. So even though this laptop does not have a CD/DVD drive, there is a nice USB external one that works fine that comes in the box. No need to buy an extra one (was pleasantly surprised at this).

Another one of my Black Friday pickups. I don't know if I would have paid full price for this laptop as I'm more inclined to do a gaming desktop. However, I needed a replacement for my oldest who's desktop was having issues and she was using laptops purchased from Goodwill. So the bar was set fairly low for her. I had looked at the previous model, and was not sold on price/performance. But when this option came up on the Black Friday list, I relooked at this unit and the specs on this newest edition were more impressive (although still did not have an SSD). We've had no issues setting it up, and the performance has been as expected. Gaming is very acceptable, and basically preforms close to claims. The red keyboard back-lighting is interesting, and while I would not prefer it, my daughter is OK with it. The touchscreen works well with Windows 10. The audio doesn't touch my 5-piece powered system, but I would gauge it as one of the best I've heard from a laptop. Over time, I will breath new life into it later with an SSD upgrade. I think this unit (especially with a later SSD upgrade) should be usable for a long time. I would recommend this model to others in the market for a gaming laptop (and willing to pay some premium).

I purchased the Y700 after trying several Ultrabooks (Spectre x360 and Samsung Book 9) which had small issues that bugged me. I needed a workstation with enough hard drive space and memory for running VMs. I really needed a solid state drive so I purchased the Y700 with a stock SATA hard drive so I could upgrade it myself. It has an MKey M.2 Sata slot (2280) and a regular 2.5 slot. The downside of this laptop is that it comes with a regular hard drive. Also, the coating all over the laptop is a fingerprint magnet. Touchpad feels a little cheap. Upgraded to a 950 Pro + 850 Evo -Fast 6700HQ Quad core -Fast and newest DDR4 Ram -M.2 Mkey 2280

I did not anticipate buying this model before going into the store. However, I reviewed the specs, and found it to be a good balance of power and price. It works nicely as a gaming laptop, but I've been more interested it as a laptop to run mathematical calculations. At that, it performs calculations very quickly and is a good desktop replacement.

After much investigation on tablets and laptops, I decided a laptop with a touch screen was my ideal. Though I wanted a full folding style tablet, I could not find one with the features this Lenovo has. It's i7 core being the latest, with 1 terabyte drive were the main features I wanted. 15 plus inch screen. Battery life is very good, average 4 hours out of possible 8. Touch screen was mostly for my better half, using touch on every other device just makes it logical. A very nice adjustable lighted keyboard is beautiful. Dual JBL speakers beat any other laptop speakers by far. Not Home stereo quality but acceptable. Still a little heavy but, nice and thin. Some caveats, every now and then the screen would go black and restart, error message was some control software restarted. Don't remember what, it happen quickly so was not too irksome. Has not happened lately, hope it was just getting to know my habits. Also comes pre-installed with MacAffee. Never cared for it and, has expired but, still is working Windows Defender. I'll see how it pans out. Over all I'm very pleased and enjoy using this on a regular basis. I never used my other laptop (a Toshiba, also very satisfied with it) as much as I do this.

The computer itself is great and runs like Usain Bolt. The only problem that I have with this computer is every so often the display driver crashes for approximately 15 seconds before recovering. This happens mainly when I'm listening to pandora so it may have something to do with the speaker wiring but who knows. Over all I would say this computer is well worth it if you are a gamer on the go. It handles everything from league of legends to battlefield.

I bought this laptop after returning the Lenovo Edge after running into two back to back hard drive issues out of the box. I was told the Y series you're getting what you pay for and so far it's done the job. Sometimes it acts up but nothing big. Even though this is technically a gaming laptop I use it for my studies as I run mutiple programs including some 3D modeling software. Only thing I just wish it wasn't as heavy. I know it's due to the built in speakers and the small woofer. Where the magnet and coil are the reason for the extra pound and half compared to the Edge.

I've been using this computer for a while now. It replaced a Dell 17"with an Intel i5 processor. I needed a better graphics card. The graphics card is better, but I'm not sure if it's good enough. I need to be able to view 3D maps in Garmin's Base Camps, and Google Earth. I don't see it doing that . It's plenty fast enough, but I plan on installing a solid state hard drive to make it even faster. Its a good computer for what I use it for. I'm not into gaming.
