It has a great sound but the subwoofer keeps getting disconnected for some reason and sound goes on and off

This speaker was my first investment in an additional speaker to my 50” LG TV. The setup was very easy and the sound quality if terrific. The compatibility of my speaker remote with my television remote makes it easy to communicate with the two devices. Bluetooth connectivity and Google Home connectivity is certainly a welcome addition which is available on this speaker and the generations higher to this one (SK8Y, SK10Y etc.). The generation below this (SK5Y, SK4Y) doesn’t support Google Assistant/Google Home (i.e. streaming through Google cast). It’s not a must, but it would help if you’re invested in the smart home ecosystem like I am :) One common complaint online is the lack of bass on this speaker and the ability to bump the bass to higher than factory set. Other manufactureres typically allow users to modify and increase the bass beyond what LG allows you to. I think this issue can be addressed through a firmware update which will allow for much louder and rich bass to make it sound like at actual 360W device. Sometimes, if the media playing isn’t of high enough quality, you might have to bump the volume up too high to make it uncomfortable enough to not want to listen to the bass. LG work on this bass issue and allow users better control of their device. This is why cheaper players seem to outperform the traditional ones!. Anyway. You can buy this if you have a rich audio source :)

I got this on sale and can not believe the audio quality it provides to my TV experience for the price. I wanted the Bose system, but for 1/4 the price I am more than satisfied with the theater sound quality for my LG TV. The subwoofer has great punch making the movie watching experience unprecedented. The only downside is now I think I'm watching too much television. :) Love this product and plan to purchase the rear surround speakers to integrate to it. The other thing is with the optical connection to my LG TV, it is totally integrated to the TV experience so I only have to use my TV remote for all sound functionality of the sound bar and subwoofer. Great integration and amazing product!

This sound bar offers amazing sound at a affordable price. Setup was easy and gives you the most bang for your buck. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a great surround sound system

I got my LG SK6Y soundbar onsale for $199. For the price you can’t beat it. It has just enough power for what I need. I mostly use it for music. The wireless subwoofer is small but the sound quality is great. Plenty of Bass. It’s real clean. I believe this normally goes for about $290. If you can get this on sale for $199 I don’t think you will find a better one for that price. It was also easy to install. There are more expensive soundbars that are better. If you don’t want to spend a lot grab this one.

Great replacement soundbar for our original LG soundbar. Only complaints are that there are no controls on the soundbar itself, so if we temporaily lose the remote it's that much more inconvenient. Also can be challenging to get the sound balanced (voice vs music and sound fx) especially since we live in an apartment and don't want to aggravate the neighbors.

I'm using the ARC connection. I like it. I like that it automatically turns on / off when I turn on my TV (Samsung). I can use either remote (TV or soundbar) to mute or change volume. I didn't have to program the remotes. I don't like that full instructions do not come with it. I would have to go to the internet to get that. I wish they would include full instructions. So hookup took a bit. Initially the ARC connection was not working. Playing around with the Function key (F), I found an option for it to "look for an ARC connection" or something like that and then I finally powered it on/off and then everything started working.

When I first hooked the sound bar up I was very underwhelmed. The sound was tinny and not what I expected at all. Finally I went from optical output to the ARC and was immediately impressed. It sounds phenomenal. So my advice is if you buy this, you need the arc output or you’re better off sticking to your TVs speakers.

I just love it. IT'S NOT ATMOS but just dolby digital but after you watch a movie with dolby digital there is no way you will watch it with your 2.0 speakers! It's like 1080 and 4K. After 4K you never gonna watch DVD... Nice quality, easy to connect and nice price.

It provides a great sound. However, at the time of my purchase, I also purchased a 4k tv that had Dolby Atmos. The best buy rep told me it was becoming or already is the new standard for sound in movies, similar to Dolby surround and THX. I should've upgraded to the model just above this to get that sound. I have it on my TV but on this soundbar it has DTS Virtual Sound. While it still has a great sound, I sometimes am content with just using the TV's sound only because that can be enough on certain shows or movies. I do love just turning on the soundbar only and connecting it to my phones Bluetooth though. With this soundbar and a phone, you don't even need a normal stereo.

This sound bar seemed to sound good in the store. Loudness seemed OK in the store even though I didn’t crank it up. The reviews and recommendations talked me into it. It was on sale as well. However when I would mute the bar after being as loud as it would go and then listen to the TV speaker there really wasn’t a difference. This was disappointing. I was using an optical cable from the TV to the sound bar. For some reason DIRECTV and Blu-ray were quite quiet levels. When I would play AppleTV through the same cable from the TV the level was pretty good. The store could not figure out why this would be. I ended up returning it for an Samsung sound bar.

I have had this LG Sound bar for a week now and while its no powerhouse of a Sound bar it does do a decent performance especially when I tested it using the Virtual X Dolby DTS's latest upgrade for the home market. The Sound bar performed well while my only complaint is the sub being a little too week wish there was a way to boost its boom otherwise I really enjoy listening to movies, tv shows, news etc not a bad entry for LG.

Soundbars aren't for everyone...but if you're in the market for one that won't break the bank, this is definitely a fantastic choice. Uses ARC and Optical and works with most TVs. I have it with my LG TV and syncs really well.

This sound bar and sub woofer exceeded my expectations. Great quality easy set up and makes for a good home theater system when paired with the rear speaker set. If you wait for a bundle price it makes it well worth it.

I bought this on Black Friday to upgrade my current sound bar. This is great for the price and not breaking the bank. Great sound and covers the spectrum of highs and lows well.
