Customers are saying

Customers often highlight the quiet operation, counter depth design, and ample storage space of the 22.7 Cu. Ft. Counter-Depth 4-Door French Door Refrigerator. Many appreciate the convenience of the middle drawer and the black stainless steel finish. However, some users have experienced issues with the compressor failing prematurely, the ice maker being small, and the warranty not being honored by LG.

    Could have been great ....

I really thought that this fridge would prove to be an excellent buy and, while it has plenty of features i'm happy with, there is one design flaw that has soured my experience completely. At first, i thought it would be an easy fix and so did the LG authorized service rep because who would have thought that the custom chill drawer was designed to close on its own? This has to be the most annoying feature ever incorporated into a fridge design. The drawer would be an excellent place to store large platters with prepared snacks but how do you do that if one hand is needed to prevent the drawer from closing by itself? I was shocked when the service man informed me that LG tech support advised him that there is currently no fix for this problem but he might try to wedge some splints underneath the back legs to tilt the fridge forward!!!!! Well, guess what? Even tilted forward the chill drawer closes by itself! At the least, LG engineers should put their thinking caps on and come up with a solution to this flaw they created!

Purchased new in 2018. Approx. 2 years later it needed a repair which was covered by the 5yr extended warranty I added at the time of purchase. What do you know, the warranty expires and the fridge breaks down a year later. Not sure if it's even worth fixing again only to delay the inevitable. Very disappointing.

Any updates after a few years?

Sure it looks gorgeous and sleek. Does anyone have comments after a few years if this? Anybody change their minds of their original 5 star review? Researching and all the brands (of, Samsung, KitchenAid, whirlpool, get) have horrible issues. I bought this one with the warranty and expect to use my warranty as others did.

Terrible fridge. I bought this fridge in stainless steel from Best Buy in 2015, the compressor stopped working in June 2018. Paid $250 for labor to repair, spoiled food was not reimbursed. Fast forward to May 2020 now, in a little less than 2 years the fridge stopped cooling again in the midst of covid-19. Arghhh, this fridge just keep breaking. Called LG service center, no technician available for the entire June and July, REALLY? Do not buy this fridge!!

This is a faulty fridge, LG has been sued for it

I've had this fridge for a few years now and while it's sleek and worked great in the beginning, it's complete trash. It breaks down if you put in a box the wrong way. The compressors breaks down after about two years. LG had a class action lawsuit and had to extend the parts warranty to five years bc it's such a faulty fridge. DO NOT BUY THIS.

Complete disaster after 2.5 years. Compressor started going out and after 7 repair visits, LG finally gave in and realized the fridge was unfixable. It is completely dead and unusable. It was great while it lasted, but less than 3 years is not good enough.

Compressor went out when it was barely 6 years old. I was lucky enough to buy it in November of 2017 as they changed their part warranty on the compressor from 10 years to 5 years starting 1/1/2018.

Great looking refig. Use care when cleaning grey stainless as a scratch will show lighter stainless color underneath. But otherwise very well put together. Compressor failed after 6 years of use. LG support is very difficult to work with. No one except those with LG repair certs will touch it. IMHO - Avoid and buy a GE.

Bought LG LMXC23746S less that two years ago. It was under extended warranty but the failure was in the "sealed system" and no service techs were qualified to repair it. Purchase price was refunded.

Broke in 1 Year, Took 1 Month to Repair

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The refrigerator is great when it's functioning properly. But the fan went out after one year, and when this happens, the cooling system fails, and your food spoils. I have Geek Squad Protection, but it took them nearly ONE MONTH to resolve the issue. They scheduled an incompetent, third-party service center to come out and diagnose the problem. 1-week later a tech arrives, diagnoses the problem, and orders the parts. Except they ordered the wrong parts, which put us out a functioning refrigerator in the middle of summer for another 2-weeks. After a maddening back and forth with the third party service center and a visit from an actual Geek Squad Tech (who was competent and nice) we slowly found the path to getting our fridge repaired. The customer service from Best Buy was really lousy. 45-minute hold times, being told different information from EVERY representative we spoke with, no one really offering viable solutions-- it was an exhausting, disheartening process to get our fridge up and running again. Filled out a Food Spoilage Claim to recoup some of our food/money loss, and now we're getting emails from Best Buy saying that they can't open the requisite PDFs of our claim, receipt, and work order. It just never ends. The bottom line, if your fridge fails, make sure to have a Geek Squad Tech come out to visit first. Turns out the only GS tech in our area was on vacay when our fridge died, so we had to grin and bear the incompetence of the third party service center. The tech who successfully repaired the fridge said that the fan he replaced has been upgraded to mitigate future breakdowns. I'll let you know if I encounter any other issues. Doors are not stainless steel (only the look of it)... No magnets will stick to them and fingers marks are really visible... The shelves glasses get condensation really fast, which is strange.. .never happened with my previous fridge. It's a good fridge, silent and I love the drawers.... but not sure it's worth its price... I guess time will tell if worth the investment. (My rating would be a 3.5)

    Substandard Refrigerator

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I bought this “cabinet” on 05/01/2016 for $2999.99. Motherboard fried on 9/13/2018 for no reason other than LG's product being substandard and lacking quality. The refrigerator basically acts as if it is unplugged. Nothing works. It is a cabinet. LG basically says too bad and will not do anything to cover the $280 part. Total bill from to repair will be approximately $480 (part and labor). Do not buy this product or anything else from LG. No longevity.

Cooling system failed after not even 3 years

My father purchased this refrigerator not even 3 years ago. The cooling system broke and I could not get anyone to come and fix it. Most places don't even touch LG products if it's a compressor issue. A fridge this new should not be having major problems like this. Heard from multiple people that LG is garbage, which is why we just replaced the fridge with a GE.
