The shelves are made of a glass insert surrounded by plastic. The plastic cracks if there are too many items in the refrigerator. This should be considered a manufacturer's defect, but LG won't replace the cracked plastic. Moreover, you can't just buy the plastic, you have to buy the entire shelf (glass and plastic) at the tune of over $100. I've replaced two shelves in this refrigerator (over $200). Do yourself a favor and stay as far from this refrigerator or any other LG refrigerator built like this.

Was looking for a new fridge because I moved didn’t know where to look didn’t know where to find went to Best Buy and got my behind a new fridge this works great I’m I mean a fridge is a fridge it just has to keep stuff cold

This fridge is a perfect size, plenty of room inside, and tons of bright light!!

I really wanted black slate so I purchased this LG refrigerator. I do NOT like the fact that is has no door handle. It makes it difficult to open at times. I have had this fridge for 2 months, it already has scratches on it. I am afraid to wipe it off. I used a really soft cloth, and it still scratched. I love the color, it does look sharp in my kitchen. There are no kids in our home to add more scratches. I dont know how it will hold up over time.

Top shelf is glass with a plastic frame around it that support the shelf. Frame cracked in less that 2 years. You have to replace the entire shelf assembly -- cost $115!!

The refrigerator was quite good while it was working. Plenty of space that satisfied my needs. Unfortunately the freezer began to make buzzing noises and eventually broke only 3 days after the 1 year warranty expired. I was potentially unlucky, but if you are planning on buying this maybe consider an additional warranty.

Great fridge. Freezerworks fantastic. Buy I a filter for the ice maker though.

Gasket was garbage, never sealed properly. The plastic shelves fall apart constantly. I read the reviews and thought if we were just careful it would be no big deal, but no, the shelves and drawers are incredibly fragile. The replacements we order are much better and of noticeably different quality and materials than the original that came with the refrigerator. We're about to replace the last shelf and drawer. We've officially spent more money replacing shelves than we saved not buying a better fridge.

Top shelf quality is the fatal flaw for this otherwise decent fridge. Three replacement shelves have failed, the last one just collapsed making quite a mess. Fortunately only paid for one. The flaw is in the plastic supports, the glass was fine. It's sad as the cooling is quite good. Shopping for a replacement, it will not be an LG.

Almost every shelf and drawer has broke including the door mounted shelves. Cheap plastic junk that’s not covered under warranty. LG is terrible.

I just don't get the great reviews for this LG refer. I've had this model for almost a year, and its never cooled properly. I keep the temp control as low as possible and it still freezes up. Temperature in refer section will be 55 degrees, in the freezer, zero. I've had lots of food go bad after only a day or two in the unit. Its simply junk.

Compared to my GE, this one is as quiet as a mouse.

I purchased this refrigerator based on these reviews. However, after 45 days the defrost cycle doesn't seem to be working. The main compartment must be blocked from air flow by ice and frost build up inside the evaporator area. The freezer is very cold (-15 degrees F.) but the fresh food compartment is around 50 degrees F. It should be below 40. BestBuy support was nice but said it had been too long and I would have to deal with LG support. BestBuy transferred me to LG support where they asked questions not even relevant to the model I have. After several questions, they suggested I turn the temperature control one level colder and wait a few hours. It had no effect so I called again. After additional questions which were not relevant to the model, they agreed to send a ticket to their scheduling department. They said it would be 3 to 5 days before the scheduling department would get back to me. I'm still waiting to here back. Fortunately for me, I have an old mini refrigerator so I can use that. Perhaps LG should recommend anyone who purchases this refrigerator to have a spare just in case - a warranty service call will likely take several days before they get to you. Based on my experience with LG support, I will not buy any other LG products again. I only hope my other LG products won't need warranty support.

This has been a good product since we bought it and enjoy it

The refrigerator seemed great until it wasn’t. The freezer seemed to still work, but the refrigerator was warm. We spent $250 on a repairman who found ice accumulation in vent. The repair worked for 48 hours. It suddenly seemed odd that Lg doesn’t stand behind its product for more than one year. A refrigerator is not like a car that can be abused. A refrigerator just sits there and either works or doesn’t. Clearly we got a lemon and Lg simply says, “Tough Luck”. I will not buy Lg again.

I bought this model less than 2 years ago. Love the way it looks, the interior layout, and the good, basic features. When it was still under the 1-year warranty the compressor failed. The manufacturer replaced it. I bought an extended warranty. Now, 1 year later, the replacement compressor has failed and needs to be replaced. Again. I've liked my previous LG appliances but I will never buy another LG product after this experience.

Unfortunately, unless you buy special stainless steel cleaner, the outter face of the fridge will rust with regular water and wash.

You won't regret purchasing this refrigerator. The LED lights is a plus! Saw that my sister purchased this and I had to purchase one exactly the same for my home.

In 4 years broke completely and the cost to repair was more than the price of the Refrigerator. Further Parts take 14 business day to order. Thus people with a SINGLE refrigerator at home it becomes an emergency. Would NEVER recommend.
