I purchased this because I bought a new laptop and it didn't have a disc drive. I needed the drive for several reasons and almost didn't purchase it because of the negative remarks. One stood out, "it does what it is supposed to." Knowing Best Buy I took the plunge and I'm satisfied. Note however, I don't use it for DVD, only data.

I love this external DVD writer drive. I needed it for my laptop which does not have an internal DVD drive. So glad I got it because my desktop PC crashed recently. I was able to load needed software from a CD to my laptop to keep up productivity until I got a new desktop. This external drive was definitely worth the price!

Works well, no issues. Used daily for school. Would buy again. Light and not bulky.

Good option for DVD/CD needs-Most desktops no longer offer an installed unit on their products, so you need to attach an external unit. Good answer for common problem. Only drawback, it is a cheap plastic enclosure, but it does not affect performance.

Lightweight. Easy to use. I rarely use it. But, I'm glad I bought it. My HP laptop doesn't have one. The plus's on my Laptop were my primary concern. This external unit completed my requirements.

Easy to set up and it is doing the job Very lite so be careful you do not drop the Writer.

I purchased a new gaming laptop to play some old MMORPG games which require CD install, but unfortunately the new laptop did not come with a CD/DVD drive. This external drive was perfect to load the software onto my new laptop. Works great!

This is a great option for DVD and CD's since most computers now do not come with it. As a teacher this is needed to work with additional resources that come in DVD format. It has a USB connection. and it was easy to install.

This is a great dvd writer. In fact this is the second one I bought.

My wife's PC doesn't have a DVD drive and she recently needed to view some DVD's for a project. Ordered this, opened it, plugged it in, and it worked like a charm. So far, no issues and I don't expect any.

Great product availability and ease of use as well as affordability. My new truck did not come with a CD player so this was a add-on. Now can play it all my CDs that I've had for years when I travel long distance.

I bought this to use on my Windows 10 laptop, It turns out that you need to install a third party drive to play DVDs on it. After that it works great.
