GREAT WHEN WORKED - CANNOT GET SERVICED
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased Aug 2015 as part of complete kitchen set (fridge, microwave, range, hood, dishwasher). Installed 2 months later (October 2015). Initially had repeat issues with the freezer door electronics failing and ice maker not working. After 3 door replacements, it worked like a champ for 3 years. Thanksgiving weekend (November 2018) it ceases to cool and we lost all our food (bummer). Called for repair and technician arrives a couple days later and tells us the compressor is dead. He needed to replace it along with the condenser, filter dryer, and main ECB. He says it should all be under warranty (more on that later). 2 weeks go by and no word, so try calling service tech. Cannot contact them. Keep trying and eventually get a rude woman who says she doesn't know anything and to call back next day. Call again and again... no response. Call LG Customer service and give story. They have the same issue and offer to have another repair vendor come out (we're now 4 weeks along). No technician or contact for a week. Call LG customer service again, they say they will look into it. Wait a week and no response from LG or any service repair vendor. Call LG again (now 6 weeks along) and they send it "up" for review. Another week passes and now told that since the fridge is out of warranty, they will offer me about 70% of what I paid (pro-rated value over 10 year expected life I guess?). But wait... it IS under warranty (for parts anyhow)... for 10 years! (1 yr parts+labor, 7 yr parts on sealed, 10 yr parts on compressor). I asked for an exchange since THEY cannot find a repair shop - but am repeatedly told that it is not in warranty and that they will NOT exchange it. So here is my gripe... 7 weeks of poor service from both LG and their designated repair vendors... and I'm expected to be happy with taking several hundred dollars of devaluation? I cannot buy an equivalent fridge for the money they are offering. Again, things break - no problem - I understand. But when the COMPANY cannot stand/service their product, the CUSTOMER should not be the one to take the hit. That is under their control.

Awful!

Now we are in 09/2020 and fridge no longer cools. Started with not making ice (i would reset the ice maker and it would work at times). Through the day i noticed that the inside was getting less cool. Well 3 days later, the fridge stopped cooling altogether. What kind of company sells defective products. I pay so much for this product thinking it should last much longer than my old one that last over 10 years. But no after 2 years, the fridge is garbage. I tried reaching out to LG, i have yet to hear back. I look up review and sites with information about this fridge and is a disaster. I keep reading that although parts are replaced (big parts like the compressor), the fridge will eventually stop working again. What a huge disappointment.

Nice while it lasted

Really liked the water bottle dispenser but the ice holder capacity is way too small. It also makes quite a bit of noise. After only having it 2 years the freezer has completely quit working and the refrigerator is definitely not chilling to correct temperature. Very very disappointed in the LG brand and will never own another appliance made by them. Was told it would cost only about $200-300 more to buy a new frig., so that’s just what we did today at a different store. Spent about $500 less on a beautiful Frigidaire with bigger ice capacity!!

Great Refrigerator

It has been great We love how cold it keeps everything! Plenty of space for everything to fit. The drawers and shelves on the door are roomy and the freezer side is just as spacious. With 7 people in my family to feed we needed something that would hold enough and this LG is just that. Can't thank the sales associate and delivery guys enough they made the whole process super easy. Even taking our old fridge away for just $15 no fuss. We got Geek Squad just in case there are any issues down the line. This is our 3rd refrigerator in 16 yrs from Best Buy because our family kept growing, we needed more room. Buy this one!

Read the directions and actually let the fridge get cold enough and it makes ice like crazy. Recommend freezer settings for optimal use is -4 or lower. Awesome fridge! !!

Very quiet upon startup, did not notice excessive noise as others have claimed. This was just installed and works as advertised. Delivery team was awesome and somehow got it in place without removing the doors.

Disappointed

In June 2020 the refrigerator and freezer began having problems cooling and freezing. It took three years to get an appt because of covid.The first service appt. in July 2020 stated a compressor/condenser part was needed. The part was ordered.Second appt in Aug. 2020 new compressor was installed. The frig failed again in less than a week. Third appt in Sept. 2020 the compressor was re-calibrated. The frig failed again. The fourth appt a circuit board was ordered and installed . A week later the frig failed again. I have lost so much food. NOV. 2020 I'm waiting for a decision from BB to replace/exchange my refrigerator. I would never buy another LG refrigerator. LG refrigerators are hard to service base on design. Local repair companies CAN NOT repair them. if you do buy one please purchase the extended warranty.

Worked well for 4 1/2 years, then broke down

LG fridge broke down on us after 4 1/2 years, it stopped maintaining proper freezer and fridge temperatures. Called LG because parts are still under warranty. They told me it would take 9 days for LG certified repairman to come out to fix it. 9 days! We’ll lose all of our food if it’s not fixed much sooner than that. I I called around to local appliance repair places and not very many will even touch an LG fridge. This will be the last appliance we ever buy from LG and are currently looking at moving to another brand. I expect a $1300 fridge to last longer than 54 months. Other than that, Best Buy sales, delivery, and install was excellent.

Great refrigerator, but.....
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.This is a great refrigerator, but the only thing we are not happy about is the area to put the butter dish, margarine tub, etc. It is usually in the middle of the fridge door, but in this fridge it is at the very top of the fridge door. We are a short family. I am 4'7" and my husband and son are both 5'2". We were hoping it could be moved like the shelves on the door, but it cannot be moved. It is in a rather awkward place. Not everyone is 6' tall. Other than that it is a great fridge.

We bought the fridge on a Monday evening and it was delivered on a Friday. The delivery went smooth, the guys were great! The fridge was ready to go in two hours after it was plugged in. It's a great size. the shelves were easy to take out and clean. The ice maker is quiet, I barely hear the ice fall. I love how easy it is to move. It is a little noisy when it runs but not noticeable, even when I am in the Kitchen cooking. I like that the water filter is inside the fridge and that the water comes out in a different place than the ice. I love the digital controls for all the functions. As we use it more, I will update with any additional information.

DO NOT BUY

We have wasted well over $500 worth of groceries and all we get in return is more delays from LG. Worst customer service I've ever experienced. I'm convinced that they are trying to be this bad. That is the only way a large corporation could operate so poorly. If there were negative stars for this product I would rank it a negative 15. Do yourself a favor if you do buy this fridge and go to the store but 3 bags of ice and a Yeti cooler because that's what you'll need when your fridge goes down. I speak from experience.

Terrible Refrigerator, 2 Years Broken Compressor
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this 2.4 years ago and I am sorry that I did. I was told LG was the best. Not so. My refrigerator is only 2 years and 4 months old. I believe the compressor to be broken. LG service won't be out here until February 1, 2021. Today is January 22nd, that is absolutely unacceptable. It isn't like it's a washing machine, this is my refrigerator. I buy meat in bulk and all of my food has gone to waste. I am mortified by the fact that there isn't someone rushing out here within 24 hours to expedite the repairs! One feature I really never liked about this refrigerator is the water dispenser. It seems to be a design flaw that the water spouts out from the front panel and always ends up on the floor somehow. You cannot rest your cup or water bottle underneath on the platform because the spout is on the outside, if that makes any sense. After two years I still sometimes forget and end up spraying myself with water. It is not second nature to expect water to shoot outward from the refrigerator door, underneath the ice dispenser is second nature. Lastly, the stainless steel is not stainless. Constant cleaning is required because the water drips down the front freezer door. It is easily dented and the dents show up on the stainless steel. All of this coupled with the fact that the compressor went out after 2.4 years is the reason for my rating. I suppose it could be a fluke but I'm not so sure. Maybe I got a lemon? How long should a refrigerator last, what if I weren't still under warranty? I also submitted a 1 star review about the geek squad protection plan for large appliances. Every horror story written in these reviews is echoed by the next person who has had an issue with their refrigerator. The only 5 star reviews are from people who haven't had to use their protection plan, they're just happy to have it.

Think Twice Before Buying!!! Buy Another Brand!!!

From the very beginning this purchase was a disaster. The fridge broke down on us 3 separate times within a 2-3 month span. All 3 of those times the fridge was stocked full of groceries. LG's response was less than acceptable. They had technicians come to the house to repair but it was like an in-person call center operator or like a robot with a wrench. He had a checklist to go through which is understandable but he had to "stick to LG's policy" which was completely ridiculous because he and I both knew the fridge was defective. LG just didn't want to pay for it to be corrected. Luckily we called Pacific and they ended up replacing the fridge within 24 hours. Now only 4 years later the SECOND FRIDGE HAS STOPPED WORKING. This time with roughly $400-$500 worth of groceries in it. Rather than fighting LG's terrible warranty team again, my wife and I decided to just go ahead an buy a new fridge and IT WON'T BE AN LG!!! Do yourself a favor and save yourself a lot of headache and pass over this fridge and LG in general.

Bentley, et al. vs. LG Electronics U.S.A., Inc.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.We purchased the 3-year Geek Squad warranty. Compressor burned out after 3-years and 2-months. Then we found out that there was a class action lawsuit (Google: Bentley, et al v. LG Electronics) over the quality of LG refrigerators, which extended the warranty to 5-years. But getting any type of assistance from LG was a nightmare. They gave us a complete run-around. They always promised to call back with a status update but never once did. One of the requirements of the class action lawsuit was the "creation of a dedicated customer care team." Apparently the team didn't get the memo. Another requirement of the lawsuit was that LG was to "invest in efforts to develop and upgrade parts and software to improve the cooling performance of LG refrigerators." The fact that they had to be sued to do this tells you something. I don't know if they were successful at improving their refrigerators but I won't be willing to risk my money on another LG. It isn't a bad refrigerator...if you plan on replacing your refrigerator every three years.

Would Not Recommend - Bad Compressors

We purchased the refrigerator new in Mar 2015 and had been generally happy with it. It was purchased as a second refrigerator and was therefore subject to less than average use. Unfortunately, the compressor died 3 years later (Aug 2018). We did purchase an extended warranty (not through BestBuy) and submitted a claim. The compressor with parts, covered under warranty, totaled $300.41. Labor, excluded from warranty, was $267.50. No surprise, we also lost a few hundred $ worth of refrigerated and frozen food items, but a portion was reimbursed as part of the extended warranty. Ironically, in Jan 2021, the compressor died again, roughly 3 years from the date of the replacement compressor, and equal to the time to failure of the original compressor. Based on our experience, I would not purchase this model.

Very Disappointed With LG

It went from replacing the filter to the freezer not getting cold, then to the refrigerator not staying cool. Food in the freezer had to be thrown out, as well as in the refrigerator. No one is trying to get sick off of bad food. This refrigerator is most definitely defective. We haven't had this refrigerator for 5 years. I most definitely agree with the other reviews that had the same issues. Trying to resolve these issues have become so much of a hassle, I had to purchase another refrigerator. I will be receiving another brand refrigerator much faster than I am supposed to have the refrigerator repair service. This is very much an inconvenience and disappointing.

DON'T PURCHASE THIS ONE

Also purchased Best Buy's extended warranty. 4 1/2 years of ownership the ice maker decided to stop working. the warranty people came by and replaced the ice maker but it still didn't work because it was more of an issue than the ice maker it was an element that controls the water dispenser to the ice maker. You can't fix it you have to replace the entire door . Yep the entire door that cost over $400 plus installation. The warranty people wouldn't respond to me and ignored my request for further help. I hired my own repair person for help and he confirmed the only way to repair this is to replace the door and parts take 3 months to come in and warranty is 60 days. I had a whirlpool refrigerator for 12 years that kept going . should of kept that one. This one is pretty but too expensive to repair. so disapointed.

Product was Defective and Almost Killed Me
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I could have died this product was defective and plastic from the ice maker got in my water. I was choked and my throat cut by a piece of plastic that broke loose from the ice maker top cover. I do not recommend this product there was a design change (i.e. material change) that was done in 2018 to the top cover. The quality on this unit was very poor. LG offered me $500 for my pain, suffering, and inconvenience, which was a slap in my face. This whole ordeal has taken too much time. I was finally provided a refund for the defective unit, but they did not provide any interest for the 2 months that it took them to give me a check. When they sent a company to pick up the defective unit almost $5,000 worth of damage was done to my home (i.e. new refrigerator was scratched, molding/trim damage, custom pre-hung door damaged and threshold damaged and broken), which has not been paid. LG said it is not their responsibility, but yet they sent the company to my home. It is their responsibility from the beginning to the end. I wonder how many people have to actually die before they do something.
