Avoid LG Applicances

A short time after buying this refrigerator, we realized that the ice maker stopped working (about 4 months ago), so we called LG a few times. Each time they asked us to put the refrigerator in the reporting mode which sent signals to their system over the phone. Each time the customer service representative told us that the unit is working correctly and the gave various reasons for the issue (e.g., door has been opened frequently, etc.). Gradually we realized that the freezer was also not co0ling anymore and asked them to send someone to repair it (customer service still insisted that the refrigerator works ok). Finally, on May 23rd, we told them that we want someone to visit us at home and repair it. We had to pay $428 for extended warranty (LG gives you two options: pay $250 for one time repair or $428 for one year warranty). A local repairman stopped after about 10 days and said that the problem was with the compressor and he was unable to repair it. Our freezer and refrigerator completely broke down and does not work anymore. I called LG back again and after several hours on the phone and another visit by another repairman, we are still waiting for it to be fixed.
This has been my worst experience both from a product quality and customer service experience. No one in the company takes responsibility and no one does anything. They even don't care that everything in our freezer melted and that we have not had a freezer or a fridge 45 days after paying them to fix it!! I have been over the phone with them for over 5 hours in the last couple of weeks and still do not see the end of tunnel. They have outsourced the protection plan and that company outsources it to local repair shops. The repairman told me that most of the deficiencies that he repairs are either LG or Samsung. I have had a horrible experience with LG, both product quality and customer service. My LG Premium Repair and Protect Service Plan number is 355871704. I finally bought a small fridge until this one is fixed.
Avoid LG… Their electronics might be good, but their appliances do not last and LG does not stand behind their products. I am one step away from simply purchasing a new replacement fridge.

We bought this refrigerator on 6/18/16 at Best Buy it was initially installed but when found scratches on the ref and the lower freezer is not working, it was replaced after few weeks. Then in less than a year the refrigerator stop working and making a loud noise, we have the technician over and repaired it. Then one year later, the freezer and the whole unit stop working and not cooling, our foods in the freezer melted called customer service a few times and did this smart diagnosis but did not help. This is the worst ref I've ever own. Refrigerator should last for years. We bought this at the price of $3,956.68 . I am very disappointed and would not recommend this product.
