This is one of the most affordable OLED TV on the market if you can find it You just need to be okay with capping yourself at 1080p. Given the lack of 4K content today, it was an easy decision for me and one I'm glad I made. I have nothing negative to say about this TV. One thing to note is that you need to use a specific LG mount if you want to get it on wall, the OTW150. Mount is good though so I don't view this as a negative.

Best marriage between Plasma and LED

I always owned Plasmas TVs from Samsung and Panasonic because of its rich colors, deep blacks and close to what a movie would be like. I would NEVER buy LED because it looks so fake. Now that Plasmas are no longer manufactured I turned to OLED. This is the best TV I ever have...PERIOD!!! Is the first TV that looks like is off when the picture goes blank during a movie or between commercials. No more gray blacks. You can buy it on 4K if you like but at 55" you won't notice the difference between the two unless you are one foot from the screen. Make sure you go to settings right away and change the picture from the energy saver garbage to Cinema mode. Try the others if you like but Cinema looks the most life like of all. The picture is unbelievable and is not even calibrated yet. I cannot wait to calibrate it. BTW...make sure you calibrate this bad boy after 100 hour of use and you will really get all there is out of it. If you spent $1999 + tax and you won't spend $199 on calibration why buy it in the first place. The TV can be hang on your wall if you already have a mount that can slide sideways independently and BB also included the LG wall mount but need it to be send UPS. I hang it by my self since is only 36 lbs. You most watch AVATAR in 3D with this OLED. My wife was going crazy for the first time after watching the same movie several times in 3D before. 3D is unbelievable here. There is nothing wrong with this TV that I can tell except I cannot comment on how it sounds because mine is connected to my Anthem Reciever. Great colors and sharpness. The people skins look natural out of the box (not calibrated). Awesome, perfect, perfect...perfect blacks. Super thin and lightweight. The remote is great to use. Even when I didn't have the time to download the latest software...it dit it by itself and then notify me. Great OS. I wish it was not curved but after hang it...it actually looks cool and panoramic. The curb is not a deal breaker. This is the best TV I ever owned and there is no other way to watch TV for me other than OLED.

Amazing, Even the better than Panasonic Plasmas

I've looked at a lot of different possible options to replace our aging Plasma. While there are no issues with it, the glare is often a problem. I was looking to purchase the LG EC9300 however it seems there were some complaints of motion judder and color uniformity. I held off until the successor (this one) was released and I will say the EG9100 seems perfect. It is expensive but you truly get what you pay for. Colors are stunning, you really have to see it to believe it. This has a significant anti-glare coating which really is effective in minimizing glare from the open windows in the room. The setup wizard and overall user interface is the best I've seen as well on any TV, very easy to get it setup and the smart features working. My only real complaint is the "curve", I'd prefer if this fad would just die but whatever, perhaps LG could offer curved and flat models simultaneously. OLED Longevity is still to be determined. For the (late 2015 price) of this TV, I certainly hope it lasts for several years without any degradation in picture quality. I'm not sure on the speakers as I have not tested them yet as I use a separate sound system.

I did an extensive amount of reading before making a purchase decision to understand the different technologies that go into the various screens. Everything pointed to OLED being superior, and it is. The screen creates perfect blacks and bright whites simultaneously, something standard LCD screens fail to achieve. It also dominates standard LCD in controlling blur. Any of today's screens can produce a nice crisp image, but the contrast and blur and make or break a screen in my opinion. If you are looking for a television that doesn't suffer from these problems like I was, then this one is for you.

I like others have struggled attempting to find the best TV at the best price, Well, look no further. The curved 55" OLED from LG has an amazing picture! My wife normally wears glasses, but not while watching this TV. The colors are brilliant and sleekness of the screen fits perfectly over my slate fireplace. I have a plasma and other LCD TV's and none of them come close to the OLED's picture. I originally paid $2499 then the price dropped to $2199. I just went to Best Buy with my receipt and they refunded me the difference with no hassle. Great TV and the price now is $1799.

The pinnacle of display technology is finally here

Ever since the days of bulky CRT screens, I’ve been a tremendous fan of display technology. Perhaps it’s my passion for movies, but to me, there’s nothing better than a good home theater experience. Display tech has come a long way since the days of your grandfather’s old Zenith. With the advent of flat panel televisions and HDTV, we’ve gone beyond those blurry boxes to sleek sets that display a resolution our eyes (studies show) can barely process. LCD, Plasma, LED, UHD…with so many options, how do you choose? Well, a good display is determined by a few things, richness of color, contrast ratio and the depth of it’s black levels. While many sets can typically excel in one or two areas, it’s been impossible to find a set that can provide the perfect visual experience…until now. Enter the newest contender to the battle for your eyeballs, OLED. OLED, or organic light emitting diode, is a recent tech that rather than being lit by light bars (as is common in LCD/LED displays), OLED lights each pixel individually. This allows for a PERFECT level of bright and dark that doesn’t bleed into one another. I’ve been waiting for this technology to decrease in price and become more consumer friendly and I finally managed to pick up the LG 9100 display this past week. The results are astonishing. Simply put, it cannot get any better than this. This set can display PERFECT black levels, so much so, that even when watching a movie in a dark room, there is zero trace of light bleed. If you are watching a dark scene, it looks as if the set isnt even on. Its astonishing. Colors pop with an almost 3D effect (which this set does offer as well) and the brightest scenes radiate brilliantly. The LG9100 is currently the apex of display technology and the best television on the market. There are also 4K models available which range from $3000 – $5000. Currently the 55″ 9100 retails at $2499, but if you’re lucky you can get it on sale for $1800. Whethere you’re a movie lover or gamer, the LG 9100 is the set for the most hardcore viewer. An elite set that displays absolutely flawlessly and will please even the most critical of eyes. I honestly don’t know how anything can get better than this visually, or how our eyes will even be able to process it should that happen. Until that time comes though, I cannot recommend this set highly enough.

    Beautiful Entry into OLED

After much internal debate of whether or not to go with OLED or a 4K LCD, I can say after a few months with this screen that it is nothing short of amazing. It is still a 1080p panel which may turn some people off, but with limited 4K content being widely available, choosing this panel over the 4K model is most definitely worth it. Color saturation is spot on, with a vibrance that is unmatched by any traditional LCD or LED-LCD display out there. Where this TV shines and shows its dominance is the contrast in color. Blacks are black. There is no other way to describe it. My only complaint is in a well lit room, there is a slight purple tinge to the screen when looking at off-angles. Since it is a curved display, anyone sitting on the extreme left or right of the TV will notice it. That being said, it is not worth knocking any stars off. A solid investment for any home theater setup, highly recommend.

I spent much thought and investigation into whether or not to invest in OLED technology. I decided to try it and I am more than happy that I did. The quality of the picture is beyond amazing and the colors are breathtaking. The blacks are absolute BLACK. Fast motion pictures are great and now I believe it when I was informed that there is no real refresh rate to worry about. If you are contemplating this technology, DON'T! Just do it. You won't be disappointed.

I've had about a week and am so happy with the tv. Was going to get 4K until I saw this tv. I had it mounted on the wall which is better for my smaller room and they did a great job. The size is perfect. I rarely sit directly in front of it but the picture is great from any angle. The 3D is also amazing.

Passive 3D it's amazing with the OLED ! Love the curve to get the same view, even on 3D, from any angle. Love the way the remote has laser pointer type action. Wish the remote had buttons for dvd actions.

Perfect TV for those that can't wait

I was one of those individuals that decided to wait as long as it took for TV manufacturers to adopt standards consistently across the board for 4K resolution and image enhancement technologies such as HDR. Unfortunately, my old LCD TV broke which forced me to choose between a cheap replacement or a great replacement while I waited for new technologies to mature and corresponding content to become widely available. I decided that OLED TVs were at a price sweet spot and represented a true advancement in display technology as oppose to other LED/LCD TVs. Since I didn't want to invest in 4K or HDR at present, the decision was simple to pick the 1080p model. The TV, once calibrated, has been absolutely brilliant from all sources. Particularly, night time images pop out of the screen due to the deep blacks and absence of light/color bleeding. The TV's interface is a breeze to use and the LG OS is great for streaming content without a PC or tablet. Responsiveness could be better but it's never gotten annoying during everyday use. The passive 3D is also impressive and I didn't have any real issues with the resolution being effectively "cut in half" or with the lack of brightness. The only obvious issue I did notice was that the brightness of whites would vary depending on how much of the screen was white. For example, if the whole screen were white, the white would look significantly darker when compared to whites displayed in a smaller section. Upon research, it seems that this is normal for OLED TVs due to max brightness limitations. It's not a deal breaker by any means, not even enough for me to drop the review by one star, but it was noticeable nonetheless. Overall I'm very happy to have purchased this TV as a stop gap until all new technologies (including OLED) continue to mature, more content is available and standards are adopted consistently.

While the OLED tech is relatively new, it is outstanding. I love the true black look, especially watching movies or gaming in the dark. There are different settings that allow you to see a bit better while gaming so that isn't a concern, and the smart tech is up to par with today's standards. If any issues should come up I'll update the review, but so far, so good.

I waited a long time for the OLED technology to come to fruition and be affordable. This set has a great picture(once you tweak it), you can customize a great deal of the picture settings to optimize the picture. Using the cinema (user) mode I tweaked the picture to perfection. You can find numerous video settings on the net. The remote control is very neat once you learn to use it. My only complaint is that the remote is not backlit.

Love it. The image is amazing. Almost too good. Old programs look hilarious because you can tell whats a cheesy green screen. Sound is great to. I have a home theater but unfortunately one of the few drawbacks the signal from the cable box to the hdmi to reciever to the tv doesn't pick up very well. The os is horrible what a mess. I wish it came un smart for 500 less since for surfing and apps the ps4 or roku . is better. also for over 2k it should recognize automatically whatever i power on and switch seemlesslly. it should have more than just 3 hdmi inputs. Still best tv I have ever owned

I read glowing reviews of this TV but didn't know if I would like a curved screen. After turning it on the images on the screen are so stunning you don't notice a curve. You have to see it to believe it. Friends who have seen it all have the same reaction - WOW! You can sit anywhere and see the picture. I had decided to try it and swap it for a Samsung 4k if I didn't like it. No way am I swapping this one.
