Great TV, but be cautious with "Open Box"!

This is a good TV with a very bright and vibrant picture, and it offers excellent quality for the good price. However, I would like to warn others against purchasing this TV as an Open Box item. Upon turning on the TV at home, I noticed a burnt area in the middle of the screen, creating a large dark band. When the TV is in "store mode," the manufacturer automatically sets the brightness to maximum. During the impressive store display, a bright object on a black background was present exactly where I now see defects on the screen, likely due to prolonged usage in the demonstration mode at Best Buy. Unfortunately, acquiring this TV required a round trip of over 150 miles and a significant amount spent on gasoline. I opted for "Open-Box Satisfactory" as there was no better or new option available, and I believed in the claim that "If the product has a screen, it is intact and fully functional, with no visible blemishes in the viewing area." The TV was without a box and stand legs, which was acceptable to me. However, having image defects in a TV that is purchased primarily for its display quality is disappointing. I did reach out to customer support chat, but the only solution offered was to return the TV by the 15th of this month. I wasn't even offered a coupon for a future purchase to alleviate this unfortunate experience. I will be returning the TV tomorrow, and I suspect it will soon find a new owner with assurances of no image problems. So, my friends, be cautious when considering "Open Box" TVs!

This TV is Edge Lit - has light bleeding

I hope this stops others from buying this TV if light bleeding bothers you (see photo). For reference, the day before I bought a Samsung TV that I did not realize was edge lit (did not know to look for this in a TV). It had preposterous light bleed on the edges. I returned it to Best Buy. The salesperson I spoke with swore up and down this LG QNED, despite being edge lit also, would not have light bleed like the Samsung. If anything, the light bleed was worse on the LG and it cost $300 more than the Samsung! Why does light bleed matter? If you watch a letter boxed movie/TV show it is tremendously distracting. Even just dark content, you can see bleed from the edges into the TV over the content washing it out. I ended up buying a $300 cheaper LG TV that was Direct Lit and zero light bleeding. Do not believe anything about this TV saying it has local dimming and it will not have edge bleed. It will. It is edge lit and no better than the most bargain Black Friday TV there is, even though it cost over $800.

    Light Leak

I bought this TV yesterday and overall it’s OK, but when watching movies in their original aspect ratio where there are the black bars on the top and bottom (Star Wars, LOTR) there is light leaking out from the top and bottom edges of the screen. It’s very noticeable and distracting. I’m debating on exchanging it for an OLED. The picture I attached is the top right side of the screen, but it is also happening on the bottom edge. If I lightly squeeze the bezel it goes away but comes right back when I let go.

Picture is great but not worth the headache

Not a pleasant experience. This is the first and last LG tv we will purchase. The picture is phenomenal, dont get me wrong. It's the garbage wand remote that is overly cumbersome, wireless connection randomly drops and the inability for the TV to clear it's own cache which leads to apps not opening. We are cord cutters, so we heavily utilize apps. Fubo constantly has an issue, the TV randomly disconnects while watching anything. Fubo support blames it on LG and being that this is the only TV of the 6 in our house, I would agree with them. We have 2 TCL, Amazon Fire TV, Insignia and a Samsung OLED, none of which ever have any connectivity issues or app issues. I have to climb up and pull the power on this LG TV every week to reset so it behaves. I tried to give it a few update cycles before I rated it but it's had plenty, lot's of forum noise on it as well. This TV is not worth the headache, it'll be sold soon and replaced with another Samsung.

Purchased this TV in December 2022. It works beautifully, the remote can be challenging though. Overall, I am disappointed that this LG is not miles apart from the TCL that I have. I expected a higher end brand to blow away the lower end, and it just does not. Particularly with respect to color and sound.
