The title to this review sums it all up on one word....it is that brilliant. This TV will blow you away and anyone else who crosses paths with it in your home. Read on if you want more details, but if you want the short of it and are thinking about buying this, stop and just do it. This TV is mind blowing.
I'm coming from a 2017 65 inch LG OLED so I was already leaning towards this TV since I was so impressed with other TV. This panel is a lot brighter than the 2017 OLED and features HDMI 2.1 with eArc support.
While this TV isn't cheap, if fits your budget, you will not regret it. The Sony A90J is the only other 83 inch OLED out there to compare it with and while I can say that the Sony, is better in terms of visual fidelity (most notably in the brightness department), I could not see playing an extra $2,000 for the Sony.
However, the LG has the Sony A90J beat in terms of gaming performance. This TV is Nvidia G Sync and AMD Free Sync compatible. It has 4 HDMI 2.1 ports (Sony has only two HDMI 2.1 ports) and is capable of VRR (Sony has yet to release that feature in a firmware). If you game, then this is the TV to go with without the doubt.
Our first night with the TV we picked Luca to watch on Disney Plus with the kids. I'll never forget this, because 5 minutes into the movie my wife looked over to me and said "This is the first time I've been amazed by a TV." She was skeptical of paying more for this TV vs a cheaper QLED for half or a third of the price. That's how phenomenal the picture quality is.
Other notes:
The only way to make this TV better is to add Bias Lighting, which I did with Lifx Light Strips (240 inches for full 4 sided coverage of this TV did the trick) The bias lighting takes the experience to another level and my wife and I really can't watch TV without these lights. She even had me go out and buy more to put on our other TV. I already had a Harmony Elite remote to automate the process of turning on/off the Lights when using the TV.
A work around if you don't have a Harmony Remote would be to use a Smart Plug (that can monitor power usage) to connect your TV to. Then you can utilize IFTTT app, to then turn on the Lifx Strip when the Smart Plug detects a power increase in the plug(the TV turning on).
My one complaint, is that HBO Max app can't be download onto the TV's WebOS (apparently Samsung signed exclusive rights). This can be fixed by using a Roku, Xbox etc. However, do note that the HBO Max app on these other platforms is flawed since the HBO Max doesn't enable Dolby Vision and on the Roku and the HDR it does enable makes the picture unwatchable since it dims the screen too much.
Just make sure you have a large enough wall and can sit at least 7 feet away because this thing is MASSIVE. If you don't have that 7 feet of separation you might as well go with a smaller TV as this TV is so big that it will feel like you were late to the movie theater and had to sit in the front row .
I would definitely opt for having it professionally mounted as this TV absolutely should be hung up on your wall. As you can see from my picture (Playing "Our Planet" on Netflix), it absolutely dwarfs the Sonos Arc. It really looks like you are looking through a window!

This TV is not for everyone, so ignore any reviews that complain about the price.
It is an absolutely beautiful display and a premium product for a premium price.
So if you get this as a gaming TV there is some setup with enabling HDR and Gsync but that is easily found through the menu.
With an AVR the eARC is on hdmi 2, and must be enabled as well through menu.
Some side notes, with smart hdmi it can turn on and off devices (like PS5 turns on when TV set to input or the PS5 can shut off your TV)
Handling all of the features is why I marked the ease of use down a notch.
For those with a universal remote (Harmony) note that the tv remote stops sending IR commands when TV is on, assumption is that it communicates via Bluetooth once on. To program your harmony be sure to unplug the TV (or go in another room)
Not sure what else to say about it.
I didn’t comment about the display itself because if you’re looking at oled you probably read up on it. It is plenty bright even with overhead lights on. There is reflections and glare in brighter settings during dark scenes but that’s all TVs. Burn-in is not so much an issue anymore unless you’re abusing it with static logos 24/7.

I had Best Buy deliver and install the LG C1 83’’ this past April. The tv was to be wall mounted in a corner of my room being fully extended and angled for proper viewing. The GEEK SQUAD technicians recommended that I may want to reconsider the wall mounting , do to full extension of the wall mount arm and weight of the tv. I played it safe and the tv was place on the existing stand that my old 65’’ plasma tv was on. The tv looks great and is great. My room has a ten foot wide window floor to ceiling, twelve feet high. Daylight is plentiful and because of this fine tuning the picture brightness was a challenge. The setting functions at first was trial and error but easily learned. Depending on the viewing conditions a quick fine tuning is easy if needed. Now I rarely have to touch the settings. Yes the tv is bright enough but it is not as bright as my twelve year old plasma tv. I am 72 years old and technology challenged but was able to get a great picture. Tv calibration is no longer offered by BEST BUY. The tv is paired to a sound bar, sub and rear speakers. Streaming movies in 4K UHD HDR are fabulous especially with Dolby Atmos. My only negative experience so far is connecting my Bluetooth headphones to the tv. They connect then disconnect repeatedly. The problem is not solved yet. Definitely the tv is a great choice for me.

Great blacks and HDR performance. The 83in C1 line comes with the same EVO panel found on the G2 for less money. 77in has a decent rate of EVO panels, but the 65in and 55in is a lottery. Look at the model numbers on the boxes. Upgraded from 2017 C7 OLED and there is substantial performance improvements. Plus for gaming, the C1 is undefeated.

Great centerpiece for the media room. You cannot beat an OLED display. Our media room is centrally located in the home, so when you close the doors, it’s pitch black. While watching a movie, you cannot distinguish between the darkness of the room and the black edges of the display in a dark scene. I’m surprised at how many comments we have had specifically about how black the blacks are. The picture quality is vibrant and crisp.

Decent TV - poor execution - dead pixel

Technically a decent TV and comes at a very nice price for an OLED but has a lot of flaws:
* The UI is janky and slow, ugly and many options are hard to understand so it's hard to calibrate things.
* WebOS is an ugly duckling, it lacks integration with many apps. You absolutely need to get a separate device like Apple TV to get a decent streaming app experience.
* This TV has various motion smoothing filters which are very important to make up for OLED's inherent flaws, but if you turn them on then it adds a bunch of ugly artifacts to many scenes, which makes these motion smoothing options basically unusable anyways.
* I don't personally care about this, but the TV speakers are the worst I've ever heard.
I might have been ok with these flaws since it's a decent TV after all, but we found a dead pixel soon after getting it, and now we have to go through the whole process of having TV installation crew come in and rejigger the whole thing again. My experience with this LG TV was not good enough to want to replace it with the same thing, and all their other LG products I've tried have also been lemons, so I decided to return this and get a Sony TV instead, which I expect will fix the flaws I mentioned earlier in the review. In fact I'd recommend somebody get the Sony 77 inch OLED instead then spend the $2000 difference on better audio/video equipment or furniture.

I have owned several LG TVs throughout the years. This was my first Oled TV. Out of the box the colors were good. Once I had it calibrated it looked amazing. The black levels are out of this world and there is no light bleeding that you get with LED screens. I like the new user interface it’s very easy to navigate. Also the video game optimization on this is fantastic. Oh and all this is an incredible TV and I highly recommend it

The LG C1 OLED 83’ has such and amazing picture. The tv has a setting that allows the tv the clean the individual pixels in the screen while the tv is off overnight. Also the Nvidia G-sync makes gaming with the Xbox series X even more immersive. The main negative I have found so far is the standard internal speakers for the tv. They are a little on the weaker side. However, when I have my Samsung soundbar connected with the Dolby atmos feature enabled, it sounds as good as the picture looks! All in all I recommend this tv to anyone who can get their hands on this.

Absolutely stunning tv. The color spectrum, brightness, depth and motion are all triple-A quality. Both current gen consoles are transformative on this display, it simply can’t be over-stated and there is no substitute for seeing it in person. The 83” was so impressive that I bought another 77” C1 a week later for my office / game room. Buy it, you won’t regret it.
