    Can I borrow some ice?

    Posted .

Was told this would make up to 10 pounds of ice per day and it's not even close. I purchased the Geek Squad 3 year plan and had a service call and the guy didn't even have a level. Thought possibly since they didn't level it at delivery that might be it but the geek squad guy said it looked good to him and left, having no ideas of his own as to what might be the problem. We get a few glasses of ice per day, even with the "ice plus" option tuned on. Was shopping for an ice maker to subsidize our NEW fridge and thought I'd vent.

LG fridge not cooling after only 12 months of use!

Our LG fridge sounds like it’s running, but NO LONGER COOLS. All our food is spoiled after stocking up last week to stay home with COVID-19 pandemic. Under any circumstances, I expected the fridge to last longer than a year after paying over $3,000 after taxes. Truly disappointed! If things start to get better nationwide soon I plan to contact LG and see if the can service it without paying an arm and a leg.

I will NEVER buy another LG product again. If you consider $2,000 plus product should need to be unplugged and defrosted every 2 months normal then go ahead. There is a defect in the processors and a class action lawsuit which is still ongoing. Meanwhile we are stuck with a 9 month old fridge that stops working every every 2 months and needing to move all of our food to another cooler. Don’t do it

    Compressor Failure

Bought this two years ago and like many of the other reviewers, the compressor has failed already. Thankfully I bought the extended warranty and they will be replacing the refrigerator. I will have to purchase another extended warranty though. I did love this refrigerator up until it had such a serious problem. If you purchase this, definitely get the warranty.

After a year the compressor has limited capacity

This refrigerator has a middle drawer. I would keep meat, fish, and drinks that my family would cook and drink for easy access. I noticed that it was not as cold as previously as I set it for 29 degrees F. I had some fish go bad after a 2 nights in there. When I checked the thermometer says it is 49 degrees F. Also, the ice machine started to not make ice as quickly to now not making ice at all. The compressor also makes some noise when it turns on. I requested service and hope it can be fixed. I purchased this from recommendation from Consumer Reports. As a member I will be notifying them of this problem.

This is truly an amazing fridge! The space is perfect for weekly meal preps for a family and the three separate compartments (upper fridge, middle drawer, and freezer) make food storage easy and fool proof. Definitely recommend this fridge for those looking for extra space.

Immediately had issues with door ice maker. Very poor design and constantly getting clogged. Within first week electric control board died and had to be repaired. 1 month out of warranty died. I had an Amana which lasted for 12 years I would buy them instead. This thing is a very expensive and very pretty but I prefer something which cools my food.

Although we liked the look size and functions of this refrigerator, It died overnight with water now all over the floor and all food warm and melted. This has happened only 4 months after the end of warranty. Reviews were right. Compressors on this things don't last.

    Not for Humid Climates

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Within the first year of purchase, we started getting error codes regularly and a lot of loud noise from the unit. The error codes prevented the ice maker and water from working. We called LG and were told to contact a local LG repair service. The cost was approximately $80 just to have the repair service come to the house. The person who came to service the refrigerator told us that the issue was due to the fan icing up. We were told that this was happening because we live in a humid climate and the only way to solve the problem long term was to purchase an additional part for $250. (Note that our house is air conditioned and there is not high humidity in the home.) We contacted LG and argued that we should not have to pay additional money for this part since we purchased the product in a humid climate. They did not do anything to make this right.

It broke and stopped working 2 months after 5 years of extended warrant expired which I bought with it. Now I have to pay service to come to have a look. $132 just for them to come and I have to pay any parts and labor except the compressor itself.

    Be prepared for endless problems

We bought this refrigerator in February 2015 because we liked the door in door feature. Within months it stopped cooling. After the first repair, in the last two years we've had two more "no cooling issues," and had to replace the compressor and ice maker. Also, the ice maker -- when it works -- has a very small capacity and does not produce enough ice for a family of six to have ice water at dinner. In all we've used our warranty 5-6 times, requiring the use of 8 vacation days because of no shows or second visits. The extended warranty company (Warrentech) is difficult to work with and takes weeks to find a repairman to service our unit (i.e. weeks without a refrigerator) even though we are in a suburban area 20 miles from the heart of Austin. Given our experience and difficulty, we will never buy another LG refrigerator and also will never by another appliance from Best Buy.

    Run Away!

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I recently replaced this model after the compressor failed. Not worth the time or hassle to repair it when it will likely fail again (and again and again). Since my time is worth more to me than my principles, I didn't bother contacting LG and just bought a KitchenAid instead. My unit was manufactured 6/2016, installed 10/2016, and broke 9/2019. I guess if you don't mind effectively leasing a refrigerator for $100/month and are ok with losing a refrigerator and freezer full of food when this inevitably breaks, you might be happy with it. It would be a great product if it was at all reliable at what should be its primary purpose - keeping food cold. Oh, and keep a towel handy because if you don't adjust the water pressure going into the fridge, you will get a faceful of water when filling your glass. I probably could have repurposed this as a SuperSoaker. Wouldn't recommend to a friend. Might recommend to an enemy.

Paid $3k for this fridge. It only lasted 3 years and broke. Not the kind of thing I looked forward to while all my meat and groceries defrosted/rotted while on vacation. Fridgerator should last longer... Be warned. I was warned LG isn't as good along with Samsung.

Compressor went out after only 2 yrs. Repairman stayed that compressor usually only last 2 yrs with LG refrigerators. It took 2 weeks and 4 different repairmen to fix it. Only certain technicians are trained to repair this brand. Purchase LG refrigerators at your own risk. Please purchase the extended warranty.

Wanted to love it. So disappointed.

I am so sad that I had to return this refrigerator. It had great space and was so easy to organize food in a way that you could see EVERYTHING! No more food getting lost and spoiled in the back of the refrigerator. But, regrettably, we lost so many fruits and vegetables and other foods due to spoiling because of the condensation that would build up. It would also not keep it's temperature. Geek Squad tried to fix once and they wanted to come again but we said no way. It was obviously a lemon. We learned that Samsung had way better results with humidity and keeping the food longer. So far so good on the new Samsung but seriously noisy! Can't anyone make a good product nowadays?!

Black stainless is not all it is cracked up to be

I have had this refrigerator for about 18 months, and I will say it looks beautiful and I have not had any issues with how it works. I do have two issues, however. The first is that the finish is coming off of the refrigerator around the edges of the drawers. This is not the most attractive look, nor something I think should be happening with a high-end fridge. The other issue is mainly operator error, having to do with the door-in-door feature. It doesn't close the same way the main doors do. You can't just give it a little push, you have to actually press it in. If you don't press it in, it doesn't shut entirely, and then the temperature inside the fridge rises fairly quickly to about 60°. I bought this fridge in Pacific Kitchen within Best Buy- next up is to find out if LG has a fix for the finish problem ...

compared to our previous refrigerator (KitchenAid) this LG is far better and we love it!!! has not had any issue at all, both the refrigerator and the freezer works as expected. PS: do not buy any KitchenAid refrigerator. we paid almost $3000 for a new one 2 years ago, and now is at home useless, none was able to repair it, never found the issue with it. It never worked as expected
