    Lightest laptop I've ever owned

I upgraded from a 13" HP EliteBook and somehow this 17" LG Ultrabook is lighter and it fits into the slot in my old laptop bag for 15" laptops. I'm a mouse guy so not having touchscreen isn't a deal breaker as I never used it on the HP.

I watched the Dave Lee review on youtube of this computer and I was impressed! I was looking for a lightweight, large screen, laptop with a substantial battery life. I use Citrix so I am not able to get the full battery life, but I knew that going in. I get about 5 hours of use with multiple windows and programs running (outlook, skype, excel, etc...) which is pretty good! The fan is quiet and it doesn't get as hot as some of my other laptops when running Citrix. I also own the new Macbook Pro 16"--which I love, but it is a bit heavy and not very portable. The LG Gram 17" is VERY light and makes working in different rooms of the house (since we are "hunkered down") easy peasy. On the more technical side...my favorite keyboard is still the Apple Magic Keyboard and I also really like the Lenovo X1 Carbon keyboard, but the LG gram keyboard is pretty decent. I like the feel of it and I like having the numeric keyboard. I was surprised by the quality of the screen and the sound was pretty decent, too. It is not as robust as the Macbook Pro 16", but it was better than I expected it to be. I am not a gamer and I bought this for work, so it really fulfills all my expectations.

The Gram 17 is perfect for business people like myself. I easily upgraded the 16 GB RAM to 40 GB RAM and it is super fast with no hesitations. Highly recommend you buy the Samsung 32 GB RAM, not other brands, as they have a little bit of trouble during installation. FHD 17 inch screen is better than any laptop I have ever owned. I mean, it is beautiful to look at and spreadsheets, PowerPoint presentations and Netflix movies all look fantastic. The large keyboard is another plus (although I could not find any keyboard covers), love the 10-key. This laptop only weighs 3 lbs and is lighter than my iPad (with the case). Truly portable and convenient when I go back and forth to my courtyard every day. 1TB SSD comes with 2 512GB drives, wish they had one, but tons of hard drive space all the same. This is not a gaming machine, it is one of the fastest business laptops you can buy and you will not be disappointed. Love this computer.

Pros: Great Graphics, great battery life. The great thing about this computer is that it is very light. I am not a gamer so this computer meets all my needs. Cons: This machine runs a little warm and the speaker quality is a little weak. A little pricey but still I believe it is worth the money I paid.

    An amazing Computer

I've had this computer for over two months now and use it as my main computer. Since the pandemic started I had to buy it and pick it up at Best Buys drive up and take it home to really see and play with it and was sure I'd be returning it. I have several computers but the lightweight of the LG Gram is truly amazing. The screen is bright and pleasant to look at. Some other reviews talk about it feeling flimsy and it does have that feel but it is not really like that. I've tested and used it with the weight of my arms on the corners and even dropped it, it seems to handle this all very well. I got used to it really quickly and decided to keep it. Some reviews say it throttles at 400Mhz and it did this once, so I power tested it after rebooting, it never throttled again and usually runs around 2Ghz. The battery life is awesome, while it doesnt last as long as advertised (none of them ever really do), it does last me about 10 hours. I usually have numerous windows and programs open and running and it runs great. You must try this laptop! Great Job LG! I only wish you had a touchscreen also but I am very happy with this.!!!

Issues with Iris Plus Graphics card??

Upon first boot up, this laptop was amazing. Sleek, unbelievably light for a 17 inch and lightning fast. Even after loading up over 500gb of data onto its two SSD drives it still boots up and operates fast! Then I started noticing some minor video issues when streaming. Video and audio tend to unsync at times but are usually synced again if I pause and then unpause for a second. Mostly happened on HBO Max but it has happened a few times on amazon prime, no matter if I use the prime video app or edge or chrome. Not sure if it just needs an update? And then there’s the issue with Zoom. I was having a teacher in-service conference via Zoom and when the host screen shared at one point, my screen went totally nuts; tons of distortion to the screen and then when I closed the Zoom app, my screen had a flicker to it, especially on anything that the graphics card renders. I restarted my computer several times but it didn’t seem to help until I kept the laptop off for a few minutes then restarted. It got a little better after that, then gradually seemed to correct itself (less and less flickering) and seems to be back to normal now. I read on reddit that it seems to be an issue with the Iris Plus card and that several different computers from HP to Lenovo have issues with the card getting overloaded then doing weird things for a while before correcting itself. Bad thing is that it seems to get overloaded randomly. So far it’s only done it with me on Zoom but I’ve only have this laptop for 3 weeks. LG customer service wasn’t much help when I called but I really hope I won’t have to take them up on the warranty. I’ll try and update here later if anything else’s happens. Really like this laptop otherwise though.

Before buying this, like you I read a ton of reviews/watched a lot of videos. Here is what I think after having this laptop after two weeks with a lot of daily use. - People complaining about it feeling flimsy and pushing on the mousepad or lid where shows dips in is not a thing with this year's mode. It does not push or sink in easily nor feel cheap and flimsy. - The color is a dark gray, not silver and the finish is matte. It's easily cleanable and very nice. - The keyboard being "too bright" or "not enough" isn't something I see. I love the amount of brightness and is adjustable. - The screen being shiny does make it a bit reflective but surprisingly, I've found no issues with it. I have sat against a wall, with window adjacent, or with artificial lighting and have had no issues seeing the screen or being bothered at all. - I do wish the screen was a smoother finish. Although is shiny, it's almost a sticky texture. To clean it, I've used a microfiber towel and glass cleaner and was good. - Color and quality of display is beautiful and detailed - The speakers are unfortunately the worst I've ever seen in any laptop and I've had many Asus models, HP, Dell, Toshiba, Sony, and MSI. They do crackle and screech when windows noises automatically play, when listening to talking videos such as speeches and lectures, and I have yet to find a fix in the settings. Music is't too bad but quality is very poor for the price you're paying. - The 17 hour battery life they advertise is nothing I've seen yet. With surfing the internet, using Microsoft Office, or video chatting on Zoom, the most I have gotten was 6 hours, which is good. My bet is that the 17 hr limit is capable when just keeping the computer on w/o anything running but I've yet to test that. - The processor speed has been quick, supports multiple Microsoft Office windows and Google Chrome windows open at a time, however mine flickers when I have multiple Microsoft office windows open and they're side by side so I don't know if is a Windows issue or w/the laptop however I've never had this happen prior. - Overall, if you are not someone who listens to a lot of talking videos and you're looking for something light weight, with a solid battery timeframe, this is a great purchase and I would recommend it.

    Great Work From Home Device

I purchased this early during the pandemic when I knew I would be working from home for a year or more. I typically get 13" laptops, since I usually have a work PC with a screen to do complex work. I decided to grab this 17" laptop so I would have more screen to work with while working from various corners of my home. The screen was great! Crisp, bright and I found text easy to read. The main selling point of this device is the weight (hence the name, Gram). It is so light, that you feel like the laptop is a fake! Almost like there is nothing inside. This lightness comes at a cost, however. It makes the device feel cheap; the keyboard and screen flex and the material has a plastic feel. I didn't find this to be a show stopper, and LG says it is quite sturdy. Performance was good for the tasks I threw at it (Microsoft Office, video conferencing, web browsing). Battery life seemed decent for what most Windows laptops do these days; 5-6 hours when I do a lot of video conferencing, maybe 7 if I am mostly answering emails. It has a Thunderbolt port, which I used to test an eGPU (Razer Core X Chroma) and it worked great! It's not going to be the beefiest gaming rig, but I had no issues playing GamePass games at 60FPS at medium to high settings. Why did I try an eGPU? Because this laptop doesn't have any integrated GPU! Don't get this if you want to game, this is for writing your TPS reports. Overall, this is a great device for folks who are stuck working at home, and has the flexibility to do some gaming with an eGPU. If you want a ton of screen, this is your best bet unless you are OK with getting a much thicker, much heavier 17" gaming laptop. Best Use Case: You need a light portable work machine that has a lot of screen space to view those Excels side-by-side. Worst Use Case: You want a gaming laptop. You need a small laptop.

I’ve had this computer for about 3 weeks and it’s one of the best computers I’ve owned. Super lightweight, great display and fast. I also upgraded to 40 GB ram which was relatively easy so it’s even faster now. Great product if you looking for a large screen and light laptop.

PC is very light and fast. Great battery life. Did not notice the difference on the keyboard until this week. I use traditional navigation keys in excel and found that home and end keys are shared with page up and page down. Wish the 17in had the touch screen, really miss it.

I needed to replace my 8 year old laptop recently. My requirements were pretty simple, everything my old laptop had plus a larger SSD drive and more memory. This is the one I choose. Great upgrade for me. I have had it about a month now and have been very happy. I did turn the touch pad off but I don't use touch pads anyway, I prefer a mouse. Otherwise, so far, so good.

This laptop will stay relevant for the next few years with it powerful processor, SSD Hard drive, 16 GB of RAM and nice looking, HD screen. Other features like backlit keyboard, fingerprint reader (for logging in) and fast connecting ports are just cherries on top. If I treat this computer as well as I treated my old laptop from 2014, then I should have no problems with it, especially with the Geek Squad protection

I upgraded my laptop with this new LG Gram and it is outstanding. The 17 inch screen format has helped me increase my productivity compared to my older 15 inch laptop. 10th Gen Core i7 and Iris Plus Graphics are great. Very quick performance for business work. Screen is vivid and videos look great- LG is known for excellent monitors and TVs. I love having Thunderbolt 3 to connect to my ultra widescreen LG monitor and also charge at the same time. Less cables to deal with at your desk. The Gram is light enough to easily move around the house and even work from the couch. Very quiet machine. I imagine it will be easy to travel with once we're all able to.

You are getting what you are paying for! I own several laptops from several brands like: Alienware R5 (15"), MacBook Pro (16"). And now this LG Gram. It's amazing, how 17" laptop be that light. This is perfect for work on the go and travel. Built quality is awesome. And you can actually feel the high end product in your hands. It's fast and battery is holding for a long time, not overheating, colors on the screen are just amazing. LG stepped their game BIG time!

This is my first experience with a system with an SSD and the result is marvelous and amazing. I selected the option to have the system start when I open the laptop cover and I'm ready to go to work in under 10 seconds. This is the best result at startup I've had in 34 years. I love the tech advancement.
