This is without a doubt one of the best comedies of all time! One of my favorite parts was the beginning when there is about to be a stoning party, but the stoning party turns for the worse when the party host ends up getting stoned instead. Another one was when a spaceship accidentally takes Brian to outer space before crashing back on Earth. And, let's not forget the ending song, "Always Look On the Bright Side." However, this may offend Christians - I can see why because the plot revolves around Brian being mistaken for the Messiah. Nonetheless, this movie can be great if you can get past the plot.

The Life of Brian in the Whoaman Empire

Monty Python's Life of Brian is a 1979 British comedy film starring and written by the comedy group Monty Python (Graham Chapman, John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, Terry Jones and Michael Palin), and directed by Jones. It is the story of Brian Cohen (played by Chapman), a young Jewish man who was born on the same day as, and next door to, Jesus Christ. Brian is, subsequently, mistaken for the Messiah and crucified. This film, aside from the crucifixion, is incredibly funny and only someone deeply insecure with their faith would call is blasphemous or want it banned.

All Time Classic View on Religion

Monty Pyhton's Life of Brian is an all time classic and a satirical view on the origins of Christianity, without insulting Christianity by portraying Brian, who was born in a manger next to Jesus and had been mixed up with him for all of his life, until his own crucifixion. The Life of Brian used to be a staple in University towns in Germany for Christmas eve, along with the Blues Brothers and a surprise movie that was not at the movies at that time...

Again with the British accents. If you have a problem with understanding brits then put on the subtitles. And also try not to be easily triggered just enjoy the film. Even if you are religious, if you have a good sense of humor there's nothing really blasphemous about this movie. The movie is told from the perspective of your common idiot surrounding the events of Jesus in Jerusalem. You think there was a time when idiots didnt exist? I think not. And Brian is your classic literary idiot.

I won't dwell on the film itself, its your kind of thing or its not. If it is then this BluRay is the way you want to watch it. The film has never looked better (despite the fact that the original footage wasn't that great looking!) and the bonus material is top notch. Archive quality item, right here. So if you liked this film or any other Python film then you need this. And don't wear your best sandals.

Another fantastic Sony release of a Python classic. The visuals look great (there is grain, but it is the original film stock, remember that this is a low budget film from nearly 40 years ago.) The special features are most plentiful. 2 commentary tracks, an audio reading of an early version of the screenplay, an hour long documentary and deleted scenes! Seriously, buy this profanely silly film!

As a Python fan, I have seen this movie many times. It is the satirical journey through the life of a Jewish boy named Brian, who is born in the stable next door to Jesus, and is commonly mistaken for him as their lives run parallel courses. Very funny if you take it for what it is. I couldn't miss the opportunity to own it on blu ray when I saw it in the $6.99 bin!

Where Holy Grail turned king Arthur into a fruitcake with a coconut fetish...this takes the greatest story ever told and...well....tells it as only the Pythons can. Shoes, Gourds and the infamous Peoples Front of Judea... its all here and no matter how bad things get..... Always look on the bright side of life..............

Having never seen this film and going off strictly by white friends recommend I purchase this simply by the name of Monty Python alone. And of course it delivered. You don't have to be an aficionado of British comedy to enjoy the sheer madness of this group of talented individuals rewriting history. It's a must watch

I grew up watching Monty Python reruns on PBS in the early 80's. As I got older, I came to realize just how great they were by watching their movies and digesting the entire series. Though this isn't my favorite MP movie, it's still better than most movies out there and, for that, I give it 5 stars.

This is an excellent movie, and I saw it when it was released in the movie theaters. I have also watched in on DVD. The Blu-Ray edition is well worth the money. Great definition and color. Don't miss the chance to catch this outrageous comedy on Blu-Ray, even if it is already in your DVD collection.

Although this one doesn't touch my love for search for the holy grail. This (cult Classic?) outrageously funny British Humor story of a man stops at no lengths to deliver a humorous belly wrenching jaw dropping almost lewd comedy that just lightens the mood how would you choose to die?

Love the story and the history behind this film (George Harrison actually mortgaged his home and started a company to finance and produce the movie because he wanted to se it!). Bought this to replace my DVD copy with better picture and sound. This disc delivers on all fronts!

A word of warning for those not wanting their children to see full frontal nudity for both genders. Other than that, and some language, this is top humor, including pertinent comment on both modern-day Christianity and Judaism. Not much has changed in 2000 years.

The second of Monty Pythons "holy trinity" of films, is a very funny satire of religion, following Brian and his ordeals dealing with being mistaken for some sort of messiah, already owned the DVD but enjoyed the picture quality boost from being in HD

Simply the best performance from the best comedy troupe of all time. Historical, hilarious, irreverent, philosophical, and iconoclastic, this movie represents everything that makes Monty Python so endearing. Easily one of the best comedy movies of all time.

Classic monty python film on very affordable blu ray medium. This is an excellent copy. The film was once banned for its satire of western religion. Really its a silly and fun film like mel brooks' history of the world. I recommend it!
