Before I get started, I want to say that I already had an Otterbox case for my iPad and have been very pleased. I got the opportunity to pick up a Lifeproof case in exchange for an honest review, so I agreed to do it. I am a fan of the iPad partly because it is so thin and light. Its thinness makes it easy to carry around, so I’m not crazy about cases that add a lot of bulk and weight. I’ve been using an Otterbox case that adds minimal thickness and provides good drop protection, but is also easy to remove for when I want to go with a “naked” iPad to be as thin as possible. The Lifeproof Wake case is made from recycled fishing gear and ocean-based recycled plastics, so you can feel good about how it’s made. Registering the case gives you the opportunity to choose a water-conscious partner of Lifeproof’s to whom you can donate a dollar, which is given by Lifeproof. From an environmental consciousness perspective, this is really good. The case provides a good amount of drop protection for 7th, 8th and 9th generation iPads (1.2 meters). It is a very snug fit, which means it’s not coming off if you drop your iPad. This is good, but it’s also where I really found myself not wanting to use this case. It’s so tight of a fit that it’s quite difficult to remove. That’s partly because of the fit, but largely because this plastic is very rigid, especially around the edges. It really doesn’t give at all, so when I was trying to remove it, I was actually concerned that I might bend my iPad and ruin it. In contrast, my Otterbox case comes right off with a little effort, and is much more flexible. Since I don’t like to leave the case on all the time, this is a deal-breaker for me. Once the case is on, the buttons line up perfectly and work well from inside the case. The wave pattern on the back is nice without being obnoxious, and the cutouts for camera, microphone and lightning port are perfectly placed. If you’re looking for a nice-looking, minimal case to protect your iPad, this is a good candidate if you don’t plan to take it off. Like ever. Otherwise, I can’t recommend this case. A case only needs to do a couple things: fit well, and protect the iPad. The Lifeproof case does this, but the inability to remove it without hurting either the case, the iPad or your fingers makes it a no-go for me, especially at this price. If you don’t plan to take this off until it’s time for a new iPad, then I think you’ll like this one.

This LifeProof case for the iPad is one top notch piece of kit to protect your iPad while you're on the go or just around the house. The case fits rather snuggly to your iPad, which is a good thing for a case to do. The material is a sort of soft touch on the outside with nice texture to help you hold on to the iPad. I feel confident having my iPad protected by this case and have no worries that this will help protect it if I should drop it in most cases.

I like the fact that this iPad case is made with ocean plastic, making it an environmental friendly product. The case is lightweight, sleek, and has a snug fit for the iPad and provides access to all the ports. Lifeproof does highlight a dropproof from 1.2 meters, which I am not testing for obvious reasons, but it is good to know. The case itself was easy to install and remove. If you are looking for eco-friendly durable iPad case, give this one a try.

This is a decent no-frills iPad case. There's no keyboard, no kickstand, no screen protection, no extra fluff. This is a basic iPad case which offers minimal drop protection. It fits nice a snug, so there are no worries there. It claims 1.2 meters of drop protection, but I don't know how much I trust that, especially since there is no screen protection. Even though this is a Lifeproof case, it is not bulky or anything like I would expect. It is pretty thin, just like any other case. What really kind of sets this case apart from others is their claim of sustainability. Which is actually really nice if that is something you care about. They claim that the case has been made with over 85% ocean-based recycled plastic. You also get to donate $1 to a water-conscious non profit, for free. It would've been nice if they just did this automatically as part of the purchase, since I fear many people who buy this will forget or just not care enough to go do the donation on their own. Either way, the sentiment is nice. And keeping with the sustainability theme, the package it comes in is very minimalistic. Just like the rest of the case, there is no extra frills or fluff. Just a basic package. Overall, this is just a basic iPad case which does it's job well. I miss a few features that other cases have, but that's not what this case was going for. They have a nice mission with the sustainability efforts they've put into making this case, and that is commendable. If that is something you care about and like to support, then this is a nice way to do it.

I have a much heavier & heavy duty case with keyboard that I use to take my iPad traveling, but it's WAY too bulky for just using it around the house. The LifeProof - WĀKE Series case is very lightweight and provides protection from drops & falls without adding any discernable bulk. That it's sustainable is a bonus!

The LifeProof - WĀKE Series for Apple® iPad® is a very solid, yet light case. It definitely fits snug and provides no wiggle room. I will take the manufacturers word that it is drop proof from 1.2 meters. I can see that it would protect it, being it seems very solidly built, but light weight. The case texture backing gives it a very nice tactile feel, however, it is a little slick. It would be nice to have softer plastic or possibly a different kind of texture. I understand that is made up of 85% ocean based plastic, hence the wavy back. Just make sure you have a firm hold of it. But if it slips, the case should protect it :) To be honest, it was kind of scary putting the case on, it was a tight fit. I was kind of worried of breaking the iPad screen. Installing and removing the case should be done very cautiously. Preferably, by an adult, so if something happens. You can't blame the child :) But yes, It does provide protection while saving the ocean. Feels nice and secure for your iPad.

This case feels very sturdy but getting it on my ipad was slightly stressful. The fit seems to be a tad bit too tight. I like that it's made of recycled ocean fishing waste, a really good concept however this is an ipad my 4 year old carries around. I don't know if I feel confident enough with him using it with this case. I've since ordered screen protection but my guess is in the end I'm going to have to go back to the folding case that was previously on the ipad before I got the Wake. I think this might be a better option for a smaller ipad mini since getting the case on required me to force the corners on by pressing down on the ipad screen edges while the wake case was laying on a table. It does look and feel sleek and have a cool design so I'll give a few stars for that but for me it will probably end up being removed for the sake of my nerves.

While I really applaud the efforts of this product and its company, LifeProof, for manufacturing an item that is made with "ocean based plastic" and has a conduit for donating part of your purchase to "help keep our water clean" I cannot in good faith recommend this case in any way, shape, or form. Straight out of the packaging, the material is thin, feels really cheap and plasticky, and is slippery. Now, I know that it's made out of plastic so of course it's going to feel plasticky, but it just feels and looks so cheap--definitely not living up to its quite high price point. While the back has a wavy texture (like the waves of an ocean, get it?) it barely helps in having and keeping a good grip onto the iPad. It's basically no different than just holding the iPad itself with no case whatsoever on it, it's that slippery. The case itself is very, extremely rigid, with absolutely no give. I had to wrestle my iPad into it; it doesn't go in easily at all, and at some points I was afraid I was going to crack or bend my iPad trying to get it in. The case is so thin it doesn't seem as if it would actually protect the iPad from a fall. The whole bottom edge (where the speakers and lightning/charging port are located) is open with no covering/protection at all; it's one big cutout. Not good. The only positive thing I can say about this iPad case is that the buttons for the sleep/wake and volume up/down are not hard to press, which is sometimes what happens with rigid cases. But wait, there’s more bad news—getting the iPad out is just as bad as trying to get it in. Again, I was petrified I was going to break or bend my iPad trying to free it from the confines of this terrible case. Between my husband, myself and my three kids, we’ve owned and used every single iPad generation, original, Air, Pro, mini, you name it, and have tried and used many, many different types of cases over the years. I can honestly say this is the worst case we’ve ever tried. Do. Not. Buy. This. Case. If I could give it 0 stars, I would.

First I love life proof cases but this is a total miss. It feels awful texture wise when holding. The case is difficult to unsettle your iPad, you feel it will get scratched during install and even more difficult to remove.

The Lifeproof Wake Drop proof case has a sleek design, is lightweight, and a snug fit for your IPad. Boasts that it is "drop proof" from 1.2 meters (although I'm not going to try it). Case is made from 85% ocean-based plastic making it environmentally friendly! The thin design doesn't interfere with IPad functionality or obstruct any of the ports.The front is open allowing for the use of a screen protector. Backed by a 1-year Otter box warranty for added piece of mind. The Lifeproof Wake is a no-frills design that gets the job done!

LifeProof - WĀKE Series for Apple® iPad is stylish. But not very tough. It looks but not the security I need. I think I will look for something thicker.

This case fits like a glove. Very durable and feels great in my hands. Very impressed with it’s sturdiness and the quality build. This is an amazing case
