I haven't figured out how RGG Studio is so successful in their balancing act between emotional, mature story beats and utterly goofy, absurd ones. One moment, Majima is stopping acts of abuse or helping a stranger; the next, he's snapping photos of big bald exhibitionists or getting conned into thinking a tiger cub can communicate with him telepathically.
It's all set against the backdrop of modern-day pirates and the quest for a legendary treasure, and it's great. As a side story of sorts, it's easy to enjoy even if you don't know the decades-spanning lore of the series. The few bits you need are explained in-game. The live-action scenes featuring the crew's chef in a Bachelor-like competition are hilarious.
Action, great characters, tons of mini-games. Loved it.

It takes the most ridiculous aspects of the series and cranks it all to 11. Majima is a pirate now and he's in Hawaii, which made it easy for RGG to crank the game out so quickly after Infinite Wealth. It also has Samoa Joe, and this guy who knows a thing or two about shoegaze.

If you've played other Like A Dragon games, you'll probably like this one. It's a smaller scope than the RPGs, but the storyline was silly and fun, and the pirate mechanics had a decent amount of depth. It's not terribly long, but I like what I played.
Note: this game will spoil Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth, which is also a good game. And that game is a sequel to Yakuza: Like A Dragon, which you should also play. Those two aren't strictly necessary to enjoy Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, but it helps.

Definitely a lot more fun then you'd first think and while you're no longer in Japan the new location of Hawaii is a great location to play here. Gameplay/characters/graphics/soundtrack are fantastic and one fans of the series will definitely enjoy. One game that shouldn't be overlooked as this is a great gift on Xmas day.

Freakin' awesome! Combat is fun, flashy, and over the top. The game is so ridiculous but never tries to be "real" which is perfect. All kinds of distractions, fun story quests, and so much humor!
The pirate ship arena is worth the price alone, lol!

Gave as a gift and the person loved it! It is even crazier than the Yakuza Like a Dragon Games and you don't have to play the sequel (Infinite Wealth) to understand. Great beat-em-up action gameplay, characters and the ability to unlock old sega games to play. And yes, being a pirate! Highly recommended for something fun and not overly serious!

Pretty decent probably one of the weaker RGG titles the last few years but nothing offensively bad it was more a game focused on the side content than anything there were hyper specific things I liked about it writing wise but outside of that nothing crazy

It's certainly not a perfect Yakuza game, but it delivers lots of fun and varied gameplay to keep you busy for a while. It's different, for good and for bad, but worth it if you find a good sale and just want to have mindless fun.

Love the game series in general. I honestly am not a fan of playing games were you need to maneuver a boat and bought this game because Majima is on the cover. So far the game is good, when using the boat its not so bad with my motion sickness so no complaints yet.

Great game and lots of fun. Still having fun but the ridiculousness over stays its welcome after a while like that friend that keeps joking and is funny but after a while becomes stale like raising brabd cereal

Good game with good graphics. First time playing the yakuza series. I bought this game because in the arcade on this game there is Daytona 2 the arcade. Sega named the game Sega classic racing 2. Probably because the license.
I completed the game with about 87% playthrough. Overall, highly recommended.

An amazing game by Sega and RGG that is worth every penny. The game is packed with so much to do and so many surprises along the way. The action combat is very fun and deep, with more abilities and unlocks as you progress further. The minigames are fleshed out and have a wide variety across the game. The pirate/ship aspects of the game are just as fun and just as fleshed out. A ton to offer with tons of replay value. I had a great time with this title, highly recommend

This game is wild. It seems like it's one giant RGG side-story, instead of the typical serious crime drama of the standard Like A Dragon/Yakuza game.
It's great.

Such an amazing game. So many things to do around the city and the graphics are amazing. The fights are hilarious and youll find yourself dying laughing from all the enemy ragdoll effects. Anyone that gives this game 1 star because they didnt get their preorder on time..get a life and go pick up the game yourself. I picked it up on release day in the store and there was plenty of copies.
