My guess is it works fine when used.

I do still use it, I was just hoping it would work well with 5ghz!!!!

The dropping signal may have been caused by the distance of the devices. The 5GHz network has a shorter coverage than the 2.4GHz. It would be best to relocate your device closer to your wireless router and check if it improves the signal.
