Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I received this Linksys WUSB6300 AC1200 Wireless-AC USB Adapter through the Linksys friends+family program. I previously had my built-in N adapter and then purchased an AC-3200 router and a USB AC-600 mini adapter, which was a big improvement. This adapter is super fast. The speed increase is awesome. Installation was fast and easy. The only thing that I don't like about it is the size. It sticks out from the side of my laptop almost 3 inches. I need to take care when moving my computer and usually remove it to prevent damage. I would love to have one with this speed in a mini size.

However I have an 11.02 AC router capable of faster speeds. Specifically the Linksys EA6700. When I plugged it in it was giving 5 Bars but only 130mbps. So I moved it by the router and it went up to 867mbps. Lightning like speed. It was easy to setup using the disk.So I guess the only problem was the distance from the router. These new routers seem to have more limited distance.I had tried the new Linksys RE2000 (router signal booster) but that was a disaster. Spent 3 days and many hours working with the tech team to no avail. They finally said it was defective and I sent it back for a refund. So all in all it does deliver the speed promised but distance may be an issue,BestBuy also has a good price $59. The Linksys site is selling it for $69.99.Oh and by the way i does work with Windows 8.

Please try to unplug and replug the Belkin WUSB6300 from the USB Port. You can plug it into another port for isolation (if a USB 3.0 port is available the better). Does not work with Windows 10
