Works Great with Windows 7 & 8. Recently updated to Windows 10, doesn't work on the 5ghz band, rock solid on the 2.4ghz band. Linksys tech support was great, but they said they didn't have a Windows 10 driver yet.

Barely worked for a few months and now it's broken for good 6 months later. I have speeds of up to 220 Mbps when it's working but it randomly disconnects me every 3 minutes and it's the most annoying thing in the world. Don't waste your money on this unless you absolutely have to.

It works but barely enough to make a huge difference. Netgear makes better ones that last. For some reason mine stopped working after using it for 2 months.

    Not Windows 10 Compatible?

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Purchased this Wi-Fi adapter for a newly built computer running Windows 10 64-bit. When I tried to install the software using the CD, it kept triggering virus protection. Tried bypassing this. After that, every time I tried to connect to a network my computer would freeze. Tried using my old Wi-Fi stick from 2005 and it worked just fine. Did some research online. Linksys does not have Windows 10 compatible drivers available on their website so I can only assume that this adapter is not Windows 10 Compatible. Returned product to Best Buy and went with a Netgear adapter and it works beautifully. Given the amount of positive reviews for this product, I can only conclude that maybe my experience was one of those weird one off issues but I do have to wonder if it has to do with the Windows 10 compatibility...

I bought this for an old computer with Windows 7. Online it said it worked with Windows 7. When I went to download the software, it only works with Windows 8 and above. I couldn't try it. Not sure if it works or not, but I can't use it with my machine. The return was easy.

      Hi, Gale,

The first version of the WUSB6300 works with Windows 7. When buying, it's a good idea to check with the seller to make sure which version you're getting. Here are the compatibility details for each version:

Version 1 - Compatible with Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows 10 (64-bit).
Version 2 - Compatible with Windows 8, Windows 8.1, and Windows 10. For Mac OS, it works with OS X 10.11 to OS X 10.15.

If you ever need assistance with your Linksys products, feel free to contact us at [email protected]. We're here to help.

      Hi, maxdata,

It's clearly unacceptable that your AC1200 Adapter only worked fine in a short period of time, then went completely dead. We'll take this chance to have one of our Escalation Engineers double-check if your device is still good for a fix. Please send us the link to this review at [email protected] along with your contact details.

      We'll wait for your email.

Old JUNK being sold. CHECK YOUR VERSION

Bought new and sealed off store shelf in 2020. Would not work on a WIN 10 machine. Found out this is a version 1 unit from years ago. CD support said good to Windows 8 !!! Old stuff being pushed out in store. Check your version if you risk the purchase. If its version 1, return it. Version 2 will have a number 2 next to the model number on the unit.

    Expensive paperweight

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I bought this as a backup method of connecting to the internet, as my PC doesn't have a WiFi card and they apparently don't carry those in store. I spend more time trying to connect to my wifi than I do actually stay connected. It never automatically reconnects, despite me having the option enabled. I will spend a few seconds online and wait a few minutes for it to finally be able to connect to my wifi again. I've tried looking online for solutions, but I can't find anything that fixes this. I've tried making this thing work for well over a month now. It's a piece of junk. You're better off using your phone to accomplish the same thing but better via USB tethering on your wifi.

Installation was easy but pointless. Adapter would not stay connected at 5GHz. There is NO acknowledgement of this known problem on the Linksys support site and Live Chat's suggestion was to uninstall and reinstall drivers from the website. Distance from router is not a problem on the 2.4GHz band for the onboard 5-year old network adapter. Unacceptable in a plug and play device

May be a great windows product but it is not mac compatible. Best Buy site lists it as being mac compatible but after purchasing it and not being able to instal I went on the Linksys website and it clearly states it is not mac compatible. So really this is a negative review of Best Buy not the actual product. I have no way of evaluating it's effectiveness on a PC since I bought it for mac use.

Unable return product. Did not know I had 20 days limit for returns. This product has not been opened. Could very easily put on the display shelf. Why can’t I return this device. Same with the 2 Roku WiFi adapters for the TVs. I spent $134.00 for WiFi hook up so I could connect with Google Fiber. I canceled the connection be done and will stay with original internet. I have no use for these 3 items and want return them. Please reconsider your 20 day limit on returns. I need the $134.00. Thank you for any attention you can give my situation. Kathy

Speed dropped 90% after 2 weeks

Added the wireless dual-band USB adapter and had solid results for 2 weeks. Not nearly as fast as my iPad using the same network, but consistent speeds and no drop-offs. That ended today - speed dropped dramatically not even 10% of what iPad gets on same network and frequent drop-offs. Disappointed to say the least.

Unfortunately does not live up to the hype

I've been searching for the best USB WiFi adapter for my gaming pc which is located in the room over from the router. I originally had a Netgear A6200 which is an older AC adapter and was averaging about 67Mbps with it on a basic internet plan. I figured I try to improve my connection by getting a newer adapter so I went with the Linksys. After installing the drivers I proceeded to run a speed test and received lower than normal speeds, around 3Mbps. I tried different ports, resetting my network connections and restarting the rig but the download speed continued to hover around 3-4Mbps. After this ordeal I will be going back to my old Netgear USB adapter. Some are getting good results according to the other reviewers, but it definitely wasn't the case in my situation. I'll be returning it asap.

    TRASH - defective on 5G

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Nothing but problems. Moved my gaming PC to another room while getting work done in the house. Only needed this for a few days. 5G would never connect. Now, I have 4 iPads, 3 cell phones and 2 other gaming PC's on 5G with no problems. This unit would never connect, error out, and it would not do anything. Stuck using 2.4 as the 5G would not work. Could have saved money on buying a cheaper unit with only 2.4G. Downloaded drivers on website and the zipfile does not include an EXE. Windows won't bother with what I downloaded since it is already running the current driver. Tried disabling power management on the drive itself, no luck. Horrible. Box is in the garbage so now I'm out $40. Thanks for nothing.
