I would never buy this model again, BECAUSE OF THE NEED TO SET UP THE ROUTER USING A SMART PHONE. IT CANNOT BE SETUP FROM A PC! I PERSONALLY HATE SMART PHONES, HENCE MY BIAS AGAINST THIS MODEL. I OWN AND HAVE BOUGHT MANY LINKSYS S UNITS IN THE PAST AND FOUND THEM GOOD UNITS; WHICH IS WHY I BOUGHT THIS ONE. THE PACKAGING DOES NOT INDICATE YOU NEED A SMART PHONE IN ORDER TO SET THE UNIT UP!

Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am so f----n sick of every g-d-mn thing with a blinking light requiring a g-d-mn app, and every one of these apps is a halfa--ed piece of c--p, and Linksys decided to take it one step further and require a g-d-mn account to set up the d-mn thing. They don't allow any way around it and some gibbering witless suit at Linksys thought this was a good idea. I desperately need this thing to give me an excuse to return it. I've lost count of the number of access points and routers and other network blinkenlights I've set up in two decades and this is the first one that got me so p----d off I wanted it to use it for target practice before I was even done setting it up. I chose Linksys because of fond memories of their WRT54G line and past devices and now the very sight of their logo is going to reignite a seething contempt for anything they make. So far the range on this thing is just barely better than the older device of a different popular brand that it replaced.

Recomment comment is because setup was very complex even for tech.

As long as you have a modem/gateway with an active internet connection, a mobile device with the latest Linksys App, and Bluetooth (preferred for setup), the setup should be simple.
