I am writing to express my extreme dissatisfaction and outrage regarding the billing practices of Lively (formerly GreatCall). Three years ago, I purchased a Jitterbug phone for my mother, who, due to significant health issues, was residing in a rehabilitation facility. The purpose of this phone was to provide her with a simple means of communication.
Unfortunately, due to her health condition, she was unable to use the phone. I called and believed that the phone had been canceled. Despite this, I recently received a bill from Lively demanding payment, after two years of nonservice, during which the phone was not used. They continued to charge her, until I made changes to her bank account. Then they sent me a bill demanding payment.
I contacted your customer service department to explain the situation and rectify what is clearly a gross error. I was appalled to be told that it is not Lively's "job to police accounts." This response is unacceptable. It demonstrates a complete disregard for your customers, particularly vulnerable elderly individuals who rely on your services.
I find it deeply disturbing that your company would continue to bill a customer for two years without any usage, effectively exploiting their circumstances. It is particularly egregious that you are willing to actively monitor accounts for overages, presumably to maximize profit, but refuse to acknowledge or address accounts with zero usage.
How many other elderly customers have been similarly victimized? How many have had their limited income unjustly taken by your company?

My mother is in Assisted Living and needed a phone that was easy to deal with. I bought two of the Jitterbug 2 flip phones about 6 months ago. One phone lasted about 4 months and then started acting weird, like it appeared to be getting stuck, but really it was being extremely slow when moving the cursor. Restarting the phone didn’t help. By that point my mom could not dial out and I could still call in so I left it. The other phone is still working, but I’m not impressed with the overall quality or flexibility of programming the phone to make it easier for my mom to operate.

The phone itself is great. Nice easy to read screens. Battery recharges quickly and holds charge for a long time. Unfortunately the software running it is very user unfriendly. It takes too many button presses just to make a simple call. It should have speed dialing where certain important contacts are assigned a single digit so an elderly person could open the phone and just press and hold one number and the phone would dial the person associated with that number. It should have call waiting so while talking to one person you could see that someone else is trying to reach you and you'd be able to switch over to that new caller. As it is now if you're already using the phone another person trying to reach you is sent directly to your voice mail. If they choose not to leave a message you're not even notified you had a missed call. I would never recommend this phone for an elderly person.

Jitterbug Flip2 Cell Phone was bought as a gift for someone who didn't want a phone with a lot of features but still wanted a cell phone. The ring is loud enough, the numbers are big enough, and the display is nicely lit so you can see what number is calling. This has fit the situation and worked out perfectly. Nice phone!

I purchased this phone for my 89 yr old mother who has macular degeneration and dementia. The menu options are difficult to scroll through, but the speed dial feature is a life saver. I set up speed dial for her most frequently used numbers, taped the speed dial info to the back of her phone, and she has had success using this phone to make calls.

I like the big buttons and the directional arrows that guide me through the settings. My last phone had a circular bar that was hard to see especially since I have glaucoma. I love the pretty red color which makes it easier to spot.

this is the first cell phone the senior in our family has had so everything about it is new to him. he does find it easy to use the basic functions, we did enter names and phone numbers to the memory for him. having the emergency button and an app on our phones to alert us when the button is pressed is very reassuring.

Bought this flip phone for my 98 year old mother. We wanted something small, inexpensive, and easy to use for phone calls. This phone is working out well....just flip the phone open when it rings and flip it closed to end the call. Cant get much easier than that.
