Nice Idea

The worst thing about this remote surfaces if you're married. Your wife will, not might, gripe and moan and constantly say "why does it do this," "how do I make it do that" and "this thing is way to complicated" so if you're married and don't want to throw your money in the trash by throwing your remote across the room and breaking it into a hundred pieces I suggest you buy something else.
On a more serious note, the activities concept that this remote uses is a nice idea but in practice it's annoying. It has a tendency to not work right and it's a 5 minute process to correct when it goes wrong. When my 2 year old gets hold of it and the remote hits the floor even gently it will reset and force you to go through a little tutorial that takes about a minute like it's the first time you ever turned it on. Then it doesn't remember the activity that it was previously on so you have to cover the IR transmitter while you change the activity back so that it doesn't get your TV inputs out of whack and turn things off that shouldn't be off.
So all in all, it's a cool idea and can probably turn your dishwasher on from the living room when it's not getting things out of sync and turning off your cable box and receiver while trying to watch TV.

Solid remote and easy setup. Buttons can easily be modified for whatever you may need. Takes a little bit to get used to but is key when you have multiple devices. Great for use with a small home theater setup, especially since it supports up to five devices.

This is my second Logitech Remote that I have bought. I use this one in the bedroom and it works great. I have another one I have used for four years in the den and it is still working great also. They are easy to set up online and even easier to use.

Excellant remote for the set-up that I have. This was a recommendation by one of your sales associates and it was a good one. The only draw back was that I had your Geek Squad Techs program it and I would have liked to been able to see it done so that if I add other components I could have done it myself.

I help people with technology. I have installed and programmed several universal remotes. I always find the Harmony remotes to be the easiest to program and to train customers to use. If you are in the market for a universal remote I highly recommend any of the Harmony products.

I can't tell you how many times I am at work and I get a call from home asking how to turn on the video game, the surround sound or the DVD player. This device put an end to that and now anyone can operate our home theater system. LOVE IT!

I have not had problems with the battery compartment that others have mentioned. I had to call tech support a couple of times for some programing help and the tech people were extremely helpful. Now that it is set up, it works great and I highly recommend this model. The price was really great, from Best Buy.

The “quickstart” instructions give an incomplete site address. The indicated site to register must include “/en-us” before “/myharmony”.
After finding the proper website, registering and opening an account, I was able to download the owner’s manual file, and programming software, which I installed. Programming is a bit tedious, but straight forward, once one knows what is needed to make best use of this remote. Learning what needs to be programmed and using the software can take several days of trial and reprogramming the remote.
The one-button activation of all the components of our home entertainment system for a given activity, such as “Watching a Satellite Movie or a DVD”, is great. The ability to select a specific device on the remote and find a device-specific action from the display window makes this remote nearly a universal one for our needs.

I am so happy that we purchashed this remote. I was so sick of having four different remotes. This remote will handle five different remotes in one. It's very easy to set up and sync with your computer. The ease of use is amazing, my children can even figure it out. Great product for the more advanced users.

Excellent Entry Level Universal Remote

I've owned a few different universal remotes and Harmony Remotes are the best value for the money. The Harmony 650 is a excellent IR remote that performs as well as their higher priced models. If you have less than five devices and don't require the RF feature, the 650 is more than adequate for most needs.

I was very hesitate to purchase this. The prices are high and had to have the Geek Square set it up..for a cost. BUT it was worth every penny. Now have only one..thats right only one remote that does TV, blue ray DVD, stero receiver. Easy to use once to check everything it does out. You can control everything!

Design flaw with battery contacts - remote resets

I would skip this particular model. I had it for about six months, and suddenly, the remote started resetting when I would press any button. I searched online for similar complaints, and apparently this problem happens frequently. Its a design flaw with the battery contacts. Some people put pieces of toilet paper or other items behind the battery cover to "secure" the batteries in place. This worked for about two months, but then the problem cropped back up again. I tried various other ways of positioning the added padding in the battery compartment to secure the batteries, but to no avail. I can't get the remote to work at all now.
I called logitech, and after being on hold for 30 minutes, and a 25 minute conversation, they are sending a replacement.
This is not my first harmony. I also have the 550, which doesn't have a color led panel. The buttons are also rather small on the 550, so when I saw the 650 on sale, I figured it was a clear upgrade. Couldn't be more wrong. Definitely not worth the hassle. I'm now using the 550 again.

I wish I had This remote-controll years ago. It has greatly simplified my home theater control. I particularly like the macro buttons which will turn on and adjust all the different technologies required to do certain activities like "watch TV" or "watch a movie". This has been great for my wife because previously she could never figure out all the different remote controls which had to be activated in order to watch.
I very much like the online programming. One little caveat here, I can only get the Logitech website to work with Internet Explorer. I was frustrated for some minutes trying to use Chrome before I realized it required Internet Explorer.
I very much like the online programming feature. There was one particular function that was not automatically replicated on the universal remote. No problem, this unit can manually program any activity from your original remote.
The other thing I like is you can program the buttons to do certain activities. So, I wanted a button that went directly eject the DVD-no problem, I programmed it to do so.

Activites on the remote make everything much easier. I used to have 4 remotes on my coffee table and now I just have my one harmony remote that works just as well if not better than the previous set of 4. Now that I know what a Harmony remote can do I would never want to go back to using 4 seperate ones.

This remote was easy enough to set up, got all of my devices connected and the remote worked fine initially. But when the tv has been off for a while and I pick up the remote and hit the "watch tv" button, nothing happens. I hit it multiple times and nothing. After a few minutes it will work but it's getting more and more delayed. It's frustrating to say the least and feels like I've wasted my money. Not sure why it doesn't recognize anything at first. I'm open to suggestions..

I bought this remote control for my mother because she has one for her tv, one for her home theater system, & one for her satellite box. Having one remote control to operate all three (plus a couple more) is awesome! I programmed it using her computer, then PRESTO, it was done! She enjoys it very much!

I credit Logitech with making a universal remote that is easier to set up than most but with that said their website does not recognize the new RCA HDTV that I bought and this has led to some setup issues. All the commands had to be taught manually. In a nutshell, sometimes the 'watch tv' button does what it is supposed to and sometimes it gets confused. Same with the other activities.
I called Logitech technical support and they gave me the model number of a 13" RCA tube tv to try. Yeah, I'm sure that will program my remote to operate a new HDTV. Yes, that is sarcasm you detect. LOL
I guess I would say go ahead and give this remote a try but don't expect perfection.

I held off on getting an "all in one" type remote as I haven't had much luck in the past. I read the reviews and took a chance on the Logitech 650 as I have your basic TV/Surround/Blue Ray/Direct TV system. I was very impressed with this remote. Once setup, no need for any of the other remotes.

This is a very easy remote to use. If you have a FireTV or another device which can not receive IR look in to a Flirc USB connector. Its plug and play on the FireTV and have been using it with great success.
Highly recommended especially for the price.

I bought this control about one month ago and I do not know how I functioned before I had it! It easily controls all of my devices and has a great user interface. It doesn't control as many devices as some other Harmony remotes, but if you are looking for a budget remote that has good functionality.
