Good feel, good backlighting, nice linear keyboard

I am not a gamer, but prefer a backlit keyboard for the many hours of work I do on my computer each week. I also prefer mechanical keys to the membrane keys of most "standard" keyboards. For many years I used a Razer Black Widow (an earlier version fitted with green LED backlighting). But I simpoply wore out several of the keys and did not want to take the time to replace them. If you have spent much time studying keyboards you will quickly realize that a preference for mechanical keys and backlighting tends to "push you" into looking at gaming keyboards. But....
The big "negative" of gaming keyboards is the software that is required to control the backlighting. If you want a single color backlight on your keyboard you almost always have to run the software. (I'll let you come to your own conclusions about the pros and cons of gaming keyboard software.) It is just not for me.
I decided to try this Logitech K845 keyboard (I prefer a wired keyboard, too). I really wanted the version with the "clicky" keys (love the tactile feedback) but, at the time I wanted to buy, both versions of the "clicky" 845 were out of stock nationwide. So, I chose this linear version with Logitech (as opposed to Cherry brand) keys.
This is a good keyboard. The feel of the keys, their spacing, and their linear travel are pretty impressive for a keyboard at this price point. I find the backlighting to be right on point. At first I was concerned I would not care for white backlighting, but I am now a fan. I find I prefer it to the green of my old Black Widow.
The only thing about this keyboard I don't care for is the way the keys are labeled. For some reason Logitech chose to label the keys with a "stencil look". Looking through my bifocals, especially when I've been working for several hours, it is difficult to read many of the key caps. A more traditional method of labeling would feel a whole lot better to me.
This is a very nice keyboard. If I decide I just have to go back to "clicky" keys I will likely stay in the 845 lineup.

I love the feel, action, and backlighting of this keyboard. The keystrokes have a satisfying click, which I actually like, because I do some transcription over the phone, and the person dictating can hear when I am typing to wait for me to catch up. If you are looking for a silent keyboard, this one won't cut it, but if you want a sturdy, solid keyboard, this is the one.

Great Minimalist Board for Windows and Linux

First of all, we can all do perfectly fine with a cheap $15 key membrane keyboard. But mechanical keyboards are nicer, look cooler and feel more analog and old school. I use this keyboard for coding, gaming, writing and creating.
I was going to get a Bluetooth keyboard but didn't want to deal with driver problems, batteries going bad and not being able to use the keyboard in the BIOS.
The white backlight is also really convenient and there is no RGB or specialized software to worry about. The keys aren't too loud as long as you get the Linear Red keys ($60 version), and it doesn't take much effort to press the keys. Also I like the minimalist non-gamer look of this keyboard. The aluminum top panel will hopefully be more durable and also looks good.
So in summary, it's a functional mechanical keyboard that just works and has a convenient backlight. It's minimalist and has everything you need without unnecessary bells and whistles that can break or malfunction or require extra software.
Because there is no software or fancy RGB, this will work fine for Linux users or people who deal with the BIOS or random niche systems a lot.
There are cheaper mechanical keyboards out there like the Red Dragon, but the Logitech one is still great, from a well-known company, and I can actually buy it inside a physical store.

One of the better keyboards I have used. Feels nice to the touch, the back lit keys are good for late night use. Been using at home and one at work for over a year.

Really nice backlit RED mechanical key keyboard

This is a great backlit mechanical key mechanism keyboard.
Bear in mind there are two major manufacturers of mechanical key switches, and they sell three different varieties which are categorized by color: blue, brown, and red. This keyboard uses the red keys, which in theory are the quietest option. However, mechanical keys have always been "noisy" even back in the day when that was the only kind of mechanism produced, and this keyboard offers no enclosure around the key switch mechanisms, so to whatever extent such a case would have a muting effect, this product is just that much louder.
Mechanical keyboards are really oriented and marketed towards two specific groups of people (and sometimes these overlap): those who type a lot (perhaps for work, perhaps they write a lot of code) and gamers, who want the best possible response time and the knowledge that no matter how much they bang away on any of the keys, they won't wear them out overnight.
Ultimately, I returned this keyboard because I don't fit either of those use cases, and frankly I found the noise to be really irritating and distracting. However, I wrote this review with all the positives first because it would be wrong to simply say "Oh, it's soooo loud! I couldn't stand it!" If you need or want super longevity in a keyboard, then this is the kind of keyboard you should get. As long as the sound it makes isn't a bother, then you'll probably love it and keep it forever.

This was the least expensive mechanical keyboard in stock at the local store. It feels solidly built and the red key switches work well. I would've preferred a brown switch model but needed it immediately due to the old keyboard failing. If you're used to a keyboard with the built-in USB hub you won't find that here. The font choice is a little odd but the backlighting is a nice touch.

Great keyboard for fast typing. The resistance, key travel, etc. are just right for me. There is no audible click with these mechanical keys, but you still get a solid tapping noise just from normal typing. Really no complaints. I would get this keyboard again in a heartbeat.

Nice Keyboard With a Few Quirks

This review is on the Logitech K845 Red, Model Number 920-009859 keyboard.
I was seeking a backlit keyboard and always liked mechanical boards from back in the day, so this board seemed to be my huckleberry after some research. My initial reaction after 24 hours of use is it's great buy at $59.00 plus tax. Tactile feel is great, typing is very easy without any difficulty, clicking noise is more than enough and I love the ability to control the intensity of the backlit keys. The 3 levels are well designed as lighting can change and the levels are just right for me. It doesn't take a lot of effort to type as the keyboard pressure feels just right for me. The clicking sound the board exhibits is not excessively loud. In my personal situation, a louder keyboard would not suffice. The K845 Red IMO is a keeper for an everyday user like me who doesn't game.
As noted, I am very fond of this board, but it's not without a few personal quirks:
My first quirk is I wanted to try the other keyboards in this Logitech series catalog. There's the Blue, Brown, Red, Cherry MX Red and Cherry MX Blue. There are descriptions on the Logitech web site, but the description does not convey the experience of sitting at the keyboard and feeling and hearing the differences between them.
Unfortunately, it was impossible to explore the differences because Best Buy like many brick and mortar stores have minimal inventory due to uncontrollable supply chain factors, in the second year of the virus. There weren't any L845 boards on display to even test. I'll never know what the other keyboards offer unless I make it a mission to spend the time and find out how they function. However, it's not on the agenda.
One more item I'm not fond of is the font style they use on the board. I've read this on some of the other reviews and wholeheartedly agree with that comment. It's just a weird font, but it's not a deal breaker.
Few products are perfect, but I recommend the K845 Red. Cost, performance and features are inline for a keyboard at this level.

A sleek, lowkey keyboard for a professional person

I’m a pretty inconspicuous, low key person, and I love this keyboard. I’ve wanted a mechanical keyboard for years, but couldn’t justify a flashing RGB board that ruined my professional style. This keyboard is perfect because it’s sleek and professional looking, while still having all the positive qualities of a mechanical keyboard. The key presses feel heavy (which is a good thing), and the board is responsive with a low latency.
If you consider yourself a “professional” person, who needs a good quality keyboard without the whistles and bells, I cannot not recommend this enough

This keyboard is really different from other keyboards. The keys are not hard to press, but you have to push the keys farther down then the standard keyboards. I make far less typos because of this. On the standard keyboards I would sometimes hit 2 keys at the same time when typing fast because I couldn't tell when I was touching one or two keys. The keyboard has different settings for lights which comes in handy. You can turn them off during the day if you want.
I had to submit a support ticket to Logitech because I was unable to find a driver for it. Their response was that the driver is internal in the keyboard. That is a new one on me. There is another model that is very close to this one and it has a driver for it. I think it was the K840 model.

My keyboard was dying out, so it was time to get a new one. I've never used a logitech keyboard before, but I've used their other products and figured, why not? Well, I have to say this is a great keyboard that's sturdy and of good quality AND it lights up! Outside of it being beautiful, the keys have a nice click that is loud while also giving that click feeling. If either of things bother you, this may not be the keyboard for you, but otherwise I'd say go for it.

This keyboard is exactly what I was looking for. I like the fact that it comes with a backlight so I don't need any other lights on to see the keyboard, the backlighting is very bright I have no issues seeing the keys. The other thing I like about this keyboard is that the numbers letters on the keys are big enough that the light shines through, again making it easy to see at night or in dimly lit rooms.
The feel of the keyboard is sturdy, I believe this is since it has a metal surface. I like the feel of the keys that respond very well some people don't like the clicking sound I'm not bothered by it. My only complaint would be that the caps lock light is blocked by the number pad key.
I had no issue with the plug and play the function of the keyboard. As soon as I plugged in my computer was able to read the keyboard with these there was no need to download any other additional software or ask for assistance from Logitech.
Other thoughts, This is a great all-around keyboard for the price point I am very surprised at how sturdy it feels I feel like I got my money’s worth with this keyboard. Other keyboards I have used in the past felt flimsy they didn't feel like they were strong they didn't fight they're going to last a long time. So I think this will be a very durable keyboard for the long term especially since I work from home.
