I had heard it was similar to the Dark Souls/Demon Souls game(s) but slightly eaiser. I have no idea it that is the case since I have never played the souls games however LOTF provides a challenge for me. I find it to be a game that you love and hate all at the same time. This game has made me look forawrd to Bloodborne which releases at the end of the month.

Want next generation Souls game? You got it.
The combat is amazing, if you are a good gamer though. It requires you to do just frames, or in other words you need to have precise timing to do combos, and for each weapon the timing are different, so you would need to try out and memorize the timing for each new weapon type. Lots of exploration on how to properly kill the enemies. Many attribute options for you to sink your time into, and did I mention the combat and game play it self is excellent? So the game has many things for you to do and they are all solid in every area. In other words this might turn some people off because they don't want to think and deal with anything else but the normal game aspect, or they like tweaking but the combat itself is too hard for them.
Your attribute distribution also determines how fast you move and swing your weapons, this is what I guess turned some people off because they couldn't build a character to move at the speed they like.
You can build a heavy armored guy and just tank and take damage, this is what i see most people do on the PS4 live streams, but I just made my character light and move in and out and barely takes any damage. It all depends on what suits your play style though, but you definitely need to spend your experience points accordingly, or you will get a big slow guy like I see in most streams.
One drawback is, the game rewards you to live on as long as possible without saving, but the game sometimes will bug out or freeze and you just lost all that hard work you spent killing times of enemies. But I personally think the combat is great enough to over look that and still give it a 5 star, because there just aren't other games like this out there besides the Souls game, and to me those deserve 6 out of 5 stars, so there you go.
Like Souls, get it. Normal gamers should get this too IMO so you can learn to stop playing bad games that pampers you by just having you brainlessly mash on buttons.

This game is obviously derivative of the Dark Souls franchise. However, it has its own strong merits:
+Engaging story
+Ability to have weapons/armour forged
+Not as difficult as Dark Souls games
I took a chance on buying this game after reading reviews and wondering if it was worth the risk of me not caring for it. I am pleasantly surprised at the atmosphere, story, graphics, & choices that affect the story. If you are a fan of the Dark Souls games, I highly recommend buying this game. You won't be disappointed.

It seems like a good game. I haven't played it enough because of my time constraints. I like the graphics and the story line so far seems decent.

Disclaimer: I have not played the Dark/Demon Souls games which LotF pulls inspiration from.
LotF is a fun and well-designed game with a focus on attack patterns and improving one's own abilities.
The progression system rewards exploration and learning your abilities through use rather than skill check-box marking of abilities. Your character improves and this opens up your effective weapon options. You can use that great-sword at level one, but you won't be able to handle well it until you have the strength (or one of the other primary attributes) to be support it.
The world looks nice as do the enemies. One drawback is the limited number of enemy types, as you only seem to face the demon like race of Rhogars.
Exploration is rewarded with added weapons, armor and other useful items like runes or consumable energy shards. The risk/reward system of death and experience loss/health regen of a ghost in your presence works well and lets both cautious and risky players play to their choice.

The devs and creative team have almost admitted to this being a Dark Souls clone, and its obvious-almost. While this game does draw a lot from the souls series, thats not its only parent. I got a mix of vibes, everything from the Souls series, to Darksiders, WoW. Basically all you need to know is that this is a dungeon crawling, dark, big shoulder pad brandishing punishment fest, and is definitely a sleeper hit in my opinion. Do not pass this up because of speculation. Its quite fun

I've enjoyed the Dark Souls games and this one pretty much takes everything from those and runs with it. It's a little less obtuse than the souls series but also the acting isn't great and the story is just kinda meh. However the actions feels good and they pacthed it recently to fixed the bad screen tearing it had when it first came out. Bottom line, it's a fun game if you need something to tide you over till Bloodborne comes out.

So far, I'm really enjoying the campaign. If you're a fan of the Dark Souls games, this is really along the same lines, although your character ends up being a lot more powerful than most foes once you start unlocking his abilities. There is some performance issues on the PS4 version - the game has completely crashed on me several times, usually during a cut scene. On launch day, there was some pretty serious screen tearing that made the game almost unplayable, but thankfully there was a patch that fixed the tearing for the most part. Overall, I don't think it's quite on par with the Dark Souls games, but it's still a good title to hold us over until Bloodborne hits shelves in February

If you are a fan of Demon or Dark Souls, then you may enjoy Lords of the Fallen. It plays much like those games but isn't so punishing if you die in the game. You have three different classes to pick from. Game play is very good. A recommended play until Bloodborne or Dark Souls come out on the PS4.

must admit I am disappointed in the frame rate and other buggy issues and almost returned the game after six hours in. Yes sometimes the camera angles get you KILED or are just plain annoying. Also the sound sometimes in terms of dealing with enemies is unforgivable Well even with all my complaints I am glad I did not return it.. I am having allot of fun with the game for what it is. If you invest some time into it gets better and really is allot of fun. if it were not for the bugs and if they had actually polished the game off it would be a solid 3.5 for me. let's hope they make a sequel and do a better job with polishing the next one off.

Beautiful game, far better looking than any of the Dark Souls games. That being said, Dark Souls is the king of this punishing sub-genre of the action RPG. Still, if you've played your hearts content of Dark Souls, this is a great distraction until Dark Souls 3 releases.

This game is mirrored off of the souls franchise (Demon's souls, Dark souls). However in the souls game the world is dark and difficult, with little narration or guidance along the way. But emphasis on players learning combat techniques and figuring out how to get past what may seem as impossible. LotF has a very similar style in combat and boss fights, however your main character is more durable and holds what seems like an easier learning curve. The game feels great. The combat is great. The boss fights and exploration are also great.
I would rate this game higher if it wasn't for what seems like an unavoidable graphics issue. There are multiple recurring frustrations with the game that make it seem a little unpolished. The graphics tear and the frame rates flicker. I've had this tested on multiple machines and they all come back with the same results, so I know it's not my console.
That aside i would still recommend this game. I'm happy to see any new breed of games join the Souls genre. Especially ones that pull it off successfully.
