    I don't mind using generic products for many uses, but why risk damaging a nice camera by using a generic power source (It happens). The staff member at Best Buy went online to find a lower price for the Canon brand battery and matched the price. That alone will keep me coming back to Best Buy.

    The Canon LP-E6 rechargeable battery is absolutely accessory for the serious photography, especially when the original battery runs out of charge. I wouldn't recommend a generic brand as the one I tried was underpowered and didn't last as long on a charge as the Canon battery.

    They sell cheaper batteries however they ruin your camera. Have read horror stories with people buying batteries overseas with terrible results. Still there are enought people that purchased cheaper batteries great results. I'll take the hit in the wallet and hope for the best
