The LucidSound LS-20s are absolutely fabulous headphones, not just for the money, but period.
Being an audio guy I value sound quality first and foremost, and read literally hundreds of reviews of gaming headsets, audiophile headsets, etc, and demo'd dozens with my own ears.
I settled on the Sennheiser HD-598 for audiophile music, and these LucidSound LS-20s for gaming and PSVR (initially, more on that later).
Well the LS-20s perform so well (no knock against the 598's whatsoever) that I use them 5x as often, for just about all my listening needs; PS4 gaming, iPhone/iPad compressed music, FLAC uncompressed music, and most importantly to me, playing guitar, plugged into the amp or iPad BiasFX amp/fx sim.
The frequency response is much smoother, kinder and more forgiving than my studio monitors. The Sennheiser are relegated to mixing and mastering, and the LS-20s for everything else.
Pros :
+ Sound quality
+ detailed tight frequency response
+ full rich bass, forward mids and clean highs
+ articulated sounds of in-game directional audio, footsteps in Tomb Raider, creeky flooring in RE7 VR, and the sound of grass blowing or metal clanking in Horizon Zero Dawn must be experienced
+ comfort, I wear them hours on end, gaming and guitar-ing
+ function, rotational volume / audio mute on left ear cup, mic mute right
+ built-in mic and high quality boom mic (with thoughtful tiny rubber plugs when not installed, plus Apple-like LS stickers)
+ oh yeah, they're powered with bass-boost and EQ
+ 20-hour battery life, in a month I've had to charge 2x
+ fits over the PSVR headset like it was designed for it
* durable, extremely flexible and stylish design, turns heads
+ numerous small details, this company cares about it's products
+ colored LEDs that match your console, mic flash LED when muted
+ made for gaming, but performs flawlessly for a multitude of uses
+ fantastic boom mic, I can't imagine I'd considered the $79 Mod Mic 5 boom to add to the Sennheiser's
+ super lightweight
Cons :
- "on-ear" design vs "over the ear" -- if that's an issue look at LS-30 or LS-40 DTS:X wireless although those add marginal weight
- every so "classy" if you have an oversized pumpkin head like me
- short 3.5mm cable, good for gaming connected to PS4/Xbox One controller or PSVR power dongle, but too short if you have a guitar around your neck. Note the 3.5mm cable has a nice petite sleeve for connecting to an iPad or iPhone 6+ or earlier headphone jack without having to remove the protective case
- bass response in passive mode is light (yet tight), if you're into Thumpy Thumpy look at Beats or Bose
- it's a wired headset, not BT - Sony's positional / 3d audio requires a wired connection anyhow, plus you get full bandwidth audio signal
At $100 retail these things are.an absolute bargain, anything less than that and it's a steal. It's only a matter of time before they're phased out as inferior wireless sets dominate the market
This review of the LS-20s is 10-Star,
5 stars on mine and 5 stars as a gift
I liked my LS-20s so much I bought an extra pair and had them sent to my son who's equally floored. Gaming together will never be the same.
Thank you Lucid Sound !!

This headset was on clearance and I can see why. When it connects to my PS4 it works great - the sound, the mic, the fit - all great. But it rarely connects on the first try. I have to turn it on and off multiple times to make it connect to my PS4. Also, having to charge the headset separately is also an inconvenience. I should have spent more and bought a different headset.

This set of headphones was the second set that I got from Best Buy. The first set I had to return because the microphone was not working consistently. This new pair has been perfect. They are comfortable and have excellent sound. The microphone picks up every little detail and is clear. The headphones have several different functions that make them great for gaming.

They may not be like turtlebeaches but they are really good for a cheap price. The controls, easy to handle, can be used for multiple things, and i mostly use them alot for my ps4 and they are really good for me. i have no problem with these headphones.

NOTE: One of the main reasons I bought this product was because it has its own microphone monitoring/voice loopback, or as Sony seems to refer to it, 'sidetone.' For those who aren't familiar - this is when the microphone captures what you're saying and sends those sounds right back to your ears via the speakers in the headset.
Some people don't care to hear themselves speak, but I'm easily annoyed by the inability to hear my voice when I'm talking. Lots of todays gaming headsets do a terrific job at blocking out the sounds around you, which is great if you're just enjoying music or playing a game where you don't need to communicate to other players; however, 95% of the gaming I do involves me communicating with others - so that's why this feature is so important to me. It may sound silly, but once you've had it, it's hard to live without it.
With that being said, very few headsets support this for PS4. After much research, it seems that the only headsets to offer this feature for PS4 at a budget-friendly price (<$100) are some of the Turtle Beach ones and the PS4 Gold headset. I've heard awful things about the quality of TB and the Sony ones, so I passed on those.
Also, I've had these for 4 days now and have used them every day.
Pros:
Audio is flawless - especially with the built in, but optional, amplifier.
Battery life on the amplifier is great - I easily get 20 hours per charge.
Build quality also seems to be great - they feel sturdy and durable.
Mic quality is great - people even ask what kind of headset I'm using because they can hear me so clearly.
Cons:
Comfort - they're totally fine for about an hour, but after that my ears begin to get sore and I find myself constantly readjusting them.
Fitment - they have a wide enough range of adjustment (especially considering my big head), but they just don't feel secure enough. The main thing that really bothers me is that the headband will slide down my head (towards my forehead) if I look down to answer a text or something of that nature. If I were to look at my tv and then down at my feet 3 times in a row, they'll fall right off my head.
Operation - the manual for this product is a complete joke. It's basically just a diagram of the buttons on the headset with a few VAGUE steps on how to set them up. It took me like 2 minutes just to figure out how to turn them on because the instructions don't even tell you how to do so; they just show where the power button is. It turns out that you actually have to hold the power button for a second or so and then release it for them to turn on. That's kind of important to explain to people as I'd assume most people would assume simply pressing the button would turn them on, right? Also, the button to turn on the amplifier has no indicator as to whether or not the amp is currently powered on or not, and honestly, the amplifier doesn't boost the sound THAT much (often times I have to press the button 4 or 5 times to figure out when it's on and when it's not, which is annoying).
Mic monitoring - here's what KILLS me about these headphones. the only time I can actually hear myself via this feature is when the headset is turned 3/4 of the way up or more. What's the issue with that, you ask? Well, at such volume levels, the game audio is WAY too loud - so I may be able to hear myself clearly, but I'm also practically going deaf at the same time when gunshots and explosions occur. The only way to fix that issue is by going into each game's settings and turning the game audio down. While doing that WILL effectively reduce the game volume, it does nothing to the chat audio volume. So when someone talks it sounds like they're SCREAMING at you.
The end result is really quiet game volume, perfect mic monitoring volume, but ridiculously loud chat audio. If there was a way to individually adjust the mic monitoring level or the chat volume level this would not be an issue at all. I do believe the next model up (LS30) does offer this functionality. So I'll likely be returning this one and trying those out.

This LucidSound headset is easily the best purchase I have made. The sound quality is spectacular and they are very comfortable to wear for long gaming sessions, or just to listen to music. I would very quickly purchase these again.

I bought this headset because it doesn't look like the traditional big ugly gaming headsets. It's pretty and sleek.
Pros: bendy microphone, detachable microphone, mic mute, volume controls, sound, xbox and desktop compatability, easy set-up
Cons: not size adjustable, just a tad too big for my small girl head

Picked these up when they went on sale for $50 but I'd say that they are worth their full price. They feature great sound, a good mic, and are very comfortable and well-built. The only con would be that the headphones need to be charged to use the amplification and some of the other features but they work just fine in passive mode.

Like these a lot. great, even sound, very rich and immersive. Not anything super fancy like active noise cancellation or bluetooth, but they are very well balanced and extremely comfortable for over-ear headphones. I have a big ol' head and I can wear these for a few hours at a time without any issue.

For $40, I bought 2 of them in store, and convinced 2 other friends to buy one each. The headphones are really good for gaming quality, the detachable mic is amazing, and the fact that you can use those headphones on the go makes them better for listening to music on the bus/train with rather than struggling with the one-sided ps4 headset mic. Trust me, these are a must cop, I know, I used to struggle too.

My old wireless PlayStation headphones have been acting up for a while so I looked at replacing them. I considered the Platinum headphones since I'd be able to use them (wired) with my Nintendo Switch but ended up wanting something I could also use to listen to music. Most gaming headsets aren't exactly what you'd want to wear while out and about so I decided to check these out. They ended up being perfect for what I wanted; headphones I could use with my PS4, Switch and to listen to music.
I like how even if the battery dies, you can still use them. I try to charge my headphones after each gaming session but sometimes I'd forget. This lead to me having to use the very generic ear piece that came with my PS4 while my headphones charged. Now, I no longer have to worry about that.

I bought these headphones for the main purpose of being able to play my video games at night and to be able to hear what’s going on without waking up my toddler daughter and annoy my wife. This headset may not be top of the line but they are really good and get the job done.

This was a new model out but I read many reviews of other models by this mfr. these headphones are great quality for such a reasonable price point. My son uses them several hours every day. Very comfortable and no complaints of cutting out or anything like many of the other model reviews (i.e. Turtle beach) complained about. Well worthy purchase!!
