Apple silicon really revolutionizes the Macbook

Wow. Really revolutionary. What you're getting with this is a mac with a beefed up version of the processor in your ipad/iphone. This might not seem like a big deal, but it really is. The previous mac processors using intel are not bad, but intel processors have been best at higher-power desktop pc's and servers. The laptop processors are stripped down versions of that, that still use a decent amount of power. Now these mac processors have always been designed with efficiency in mind, and apple has gotten really good at making them over the past 10+ years with iphones and ipads. Now that they are beefing them up to work in macs, we have an incredible machine. This computer can play some games (world of warcraft runs great, as does league of legends), edit some movies, watch hours of videos, and do so while barely draining the battery, and hardly getting warm. Truly incredible. What apple has done behind the scenes to have intel mac programs working is marvelous, for 99% of apps you won't even realize it's going on. If you have something fairly niche, there might be compatibility issues, but for most things, it's flawless. Within a year, most modern apps will be converted to run with no intel-apple silicon conversion anyway. For those who have used macs a long time, this feels like the powerpc to intel transition all over again. Suddenly, we are greeted with this enormous performance opportunity. Excited to see what the future holds for macs. I do think it is likely that apple will change the laptop physical design within the next year or two, and that may cause some people to want to wait, which is understandable.

    Great for Traveling

The MacBook Air is light weight, compact and perfect for traveling. I could no longer upgrade the system on my old Air, so it was time to replace it. I got my first Air because it was a small laptop with a flash drive, which isn't as likely to have problems from traveling with me on my motorcycle. This new MacBook Air 13.3" is larger, which has its good and bad points, but the quality of the monitor is astounding and the M1 chip is fast! I am not thrilled with the lack of a USB 3.0 port. Printers, thumb drives, peripherals of all types all still use USB 3.0, not USB C, so you have to buy and carry an adapter. I'm also not thrilled with the power plug not being a magnetic connection. It would be so easy to accidentally break off the plug, which I understood was the reason they went to magnets on laptops. Despite these complaints, I am quite happy with this laptop.

Very fast computer. Light weight. Beautiful display. Rather delicate. I recommend adding a screen saver to avoid a cracked screen. Could use more ports to avoid having to add dongles to attach external drives, printers, etc.

    MacBook Upgrade

This MacBook Air replaced an older MacBook Pro. It is fast, lightweight, and has great battery life. Very straightforward to set up and use. I wish it had more ports like the old MacBook Pro has, but reducing the number of ports is the direction all laptops are going. Just bought a hub to plug in that will take care of the lack of ports.

Apple delivers an outstanding product once again. Although I was one of those who much preferred the MacBook touch bar, I really appreciate the design and weight of this little and mighty machine. I took the 'risk' of buying this as everyone anticipates a newer model to debut in 2022, however, I'm glad I did. The price was absolutely right on the nose and the machine is fast enough. Besides, most of my work is web-based which will only go as fast as your ISP allows anyway. I bought this under TotalTech which was also a great perk to buy through Best Buy - otherwise, at Apple Store itself, the fee for AppleCare is additional and almost equivalent to a year membership of TotalTech. No brainer - especially when I purchase other protected items such as my printer. Thanks Best Buy for featuring Apple products in-store and online as another great purchasing option.

I will never buy another windows os again. Fast, light, powerful and beautiful. Apple never lets me down. I love ios and how easy it is to use. The M1 chip is amazing. That’s why I never mind paying a premium price for any Apple product. Not because I like paying for the name but because you get what you pay for with Apple. A great well designed product.

Great MacBook, the M1 chip is a good bargain and I am able to use it for software development work without much issue. If you travel a lot, this is a good item, I've accidentally dropped it several times but the casing is built solidly enough to where there is almost no damage.

This is the perfect companion for my son as he goes off to college. Lightweight, thin profile, fast, and plenty of storage for project work as well as all of his personal media. This is the fourth MacBook Air to join the family over the years... best laptop available!

3 weeks in and no complaints. Replaced a 7 year old Macbook Air and was looking for similar size, weight and functionality. It was too close in comparison with the Pro and several hundred dollars cheaper. The rose gold looks awesome on top of that

Whether you are very mobile and like to get things done wherever you happen to be, or you just don't want to be rooted to a desktop machine in that one corner of the house. In any case, this is an awesome laptop. Quiet, with outstanding battery life! Sure, I could've (sort of) saved $$ on the Mac Mini, or perhaps gotten a boost in performance from the MacBook Pro, for more $$. But I thought about my particular use case scenario and what I needed out of a computer. I chose battery life, portability, and quiet; fan-less operation. A very stable and very reliable computer. I am happy with the purchase: Not just the laptop, or the qualities of this new MacBook Air, but also the M1 chip. The M1 makes it all possible and takes this line of MacBooks into the next stage of Apple's developments. It's already awesome, and it's going to get even better over time and with future iterations.

Without question, this is one of the best laptops ever made. It has an amazing feel, super-fast, visually stunning, no fan, and even though I've had a bunch of programs open the laptop does not get hot. BigSur is exceptional as well. Safari is unbelievably fast and fun to use. And I do appreciate the focus on privacy and security. Great job Apple!

    1st MacBook Air Experience

This laptop is sturdy, has been reliable for years, and it's still going. Wish it had some USB ports but there are work-arounds. I feel like the battery life could be better but I also keep an exorbitant amount of tabs opened at a time so...there's that lol. Would recommend for casual lifestyle purposes as that's been my experience with it.

My daughter's new Macbook Air is just what she needed for her home recording studio. It's silent, generates much less heat, and is soooo much faster than her 2016 Intel Mac. We hooked up her new laptop to a Plugable Thunderbolt 3 Docking Station, an Audient iD14 audio interface, and a 416 Sennheiser mic. Everything was compatible with the M1 chip - exactly what my daughter needed. NO MORE FAN kicking on in the middle of a voice-over track! AND, a huge THANKYOU to Geek Squad staff member, Max, who went above and beyond. Max loaded everything we needed onto my daughter's laptop and answered a ton of questions. What a knowledgeable, patient, and kind-hearted guy. Thanks! from a happy Dad
