Customers commend the high quality, ease of use, and improved viewing angles offered by this pull-down TV wall mount. Many found installation to be challenging, citing difficulties with the instructions as a contributing factor. The ability to adjust the TV's height and position is a significant advantage for viewers. However, some users suggest that two people are needed for proper installation.

Excellent for Fireplace and Single-Stud Mounts!

My application is mounting a Samsung CU7000 65" TV above a gas fireplace with a single wood stud in the middle. There is an electrical outlet and cable outlet on the wall.
I installed this myself after looking at YouTube videos of finding studs and avoiding getting shocked or causing a gas / water leak. I have no prior experience hanging TVs. It's like hanging a very big and heavy picture; You must hang it off the studs to be successful.
The TV weighs about 45 pounds. The arm weighs about 45 pounds. Make sure you don't exceed the maximum carrying capacity.
This mount works with single studs. You must locate the stud and properly install the lag bolts per the instructions. A stud finder helps but make sure you drill the center and stay centered.
I found the most difficulty in the calculations on the pages of the instruction. Just use the stud if it's in the center of the wall, and mark the wall where you want the mount.
Electrical outlets and other projections from the wall will interfere with the wall plate, so install above (as I did) or with the outlets between the side edges of the rails. Be sure to leave the center of the mount for the arm to fit when fully retracted.
The covers are paintable without sanding; Apply multiple coats of paint that matches the sheen of the wall. In my case, the covers are almost invisible (Shadows reveal it.)
A single person should be able to do everything up to hanging the TV on the mount. Attaching the arm to the wall place can be trickly since it's heavy and you will be on a ladder with it in one arm and the bolts in the other.
Don't try to balance yourself on a ladder while climbing it with a big TV and hang it on the mount. It will be a tragedy (For the TV and the wall; you will likely get crushed since you're in front and below it.).
That being said, if you attach the arm to the wall plate and the whole thing doesn't come out of the wall, you're on the right track and can try hanging the TV up.
Adjusting the gas springs is easy if you have socket wrenches. Use #13s with the extensions. If you can fit your hands and head between the TV and wall, you don't have to take the TV off every time to adjust.
The gas springs are new, and will be stronger initially. Use the middle or weaker settings first; This thing will launch a TV on maximum settings on a light-weight TV. I used the weaker setting, lowered the TV, and then checked every 5-10 mins for any rise. It will eventually stop rising slowly.
My setup was high enough to not require setting the stops. The TV also comes out far enough that it doesn't need the side-swivel stops set. There was no danger of hitting the mantel with the TV or the arm.
I recommend using cable ties from your local home improvement store; the ties and anchors that came with the product were weak and kept falling out.
--- USE ---
The rubber handles are tight-fitting but will slide when pulling them down. Use a strong glue to hold them on if that's an issue.
The TV pulls down gently with almost no sound from the gas springs or other moving parts. I noticed there was grease on the moving parts, so you might want to grease those if you hear squeaking.
My TV does not slam up from the bottom, but it will accelerate the further up it goes; hold on to it until it's all the way up.
It's great for viewing from the couch and across the room, from the recliner and also from the piano without hurting the base of my neck.

Easy to install if you read the instructions before you start drilling. Best to use your stud finder to make sure you drill into proper wood support, and measure accurately for ceiling height, ensure you understand the screw placement suitable for your TV before you attach the TV Frame to the TV so it will be secure on the Mantel Mount. There are additional parts for thin TVs to keep it balanced and clear of the fireplace mantel. Make sure you have a few people to help hold moungt and TV set steady while you are installing Mantel Mount and to support TV while attaching to Mantel Mount on wall. After installation, follow instructions to adjust for balanced pull-down weight of tv.

No other TV mount compares to MantleMount. TV’s are nit meant to be warched high off the floor above the fireplace. The ideal viewing angle is straight on at high level or slightly above. I’m extremely pleased with this mount.

Really allows for versatility when displaying a large Tv above the fireplace. Takes some skill to mount properly. But, once it’s installed right, it’s amazing. Fun to show off.

The MantelMount with the recess box has worked better than i could have ever thought! It has also open up my living room and given me more space. I also opted for Geek Squad installation. The 2 guys that came out to do the install were very knowledgeable and professional.

Mounted a old 60 inch TV above new mantle and electric fireplace. Fun project, just before Christmas (nice wrapping paper fireplace cover). Easy to put on the wall, now I just need to hide the cables to get a finished look. Very functional, easy to raise, lower, tilt, and swivel the TV. Now hoping my old TV dies, so I can get a bigger one. The mount holds up to 90, so thinking a 75 will fit the mantle perfectly!

I love the drop down of this mantle mount for our tv. It is a 55 inch screen and sitting above the fireplace causes some neck strain. Our living room is small and seating is between 10-15 feet from the fireplace. When the tv is lowered it is closer but at eye level. It has a very slight rotation left to right and I’d have loved a 45degree rotation. The glide when pulling it down or lifting it up is smooth. I had the Geek Squad install it and I feel it was worth every penny.

This works so much better than expected. We needed some solution for a fireplace mount that was above and beyond, and this exceeds what we thought was possible.
