I bought this unit as an immediate replacement for the Onkyo TX-NR808 that I was getting ready to ship out (for the second time) for the dead HDMI board/no sound issue that was covered by the extended warranty. The Marantz is a very well built receiver with a nice design and a high-end feel. It has a modern interface and is easy to set up and run Audyssey on. For my situation, I am craving the power that my previous Onkyo had. Even with my 99dB sensitivity speakers, the Marantz is lacking when it really comes to push and shove with action movies at reference volume or trying to fill the house with sound. Again, this is not necessarily the fault of the receiver, but more my fault because of what I'm asking it to do that is beyond it's limits. Since I received my Onkyo back (fixed again), I have thought about swapping it out with the Marantz again for the extra power but it's hard to let go of the more modern interface and easy wifi capabilities of the newer Marantz. I love that it has Airplay built in. I purchased this unit at a clearance price and have no regrets.

I was looking for an AV receiver to finally replace my 12 year old Denon, 14 year old Harmon Kardon and the 16 year old Pioneer. Was looking at the Marantz NR1607 as well as another Denon AVR. Decided to try something different and I was so glad I tried the Marantz. Beautiful, powerful, warm and crisp sound is the best way to describe what this receiver is capable of. It's way more powerful and clearer that any of my previous receivers by a significant margin. Fills my large room with sound effortlessly. It even makes my near 20 year old Infinity tower speakers sound new again. It is also loaded with features like Pandora, Dolby Atmos, Wi Fi, airplay, ARC, etc. Very satisfied with my purchase. By far the best receiver I have ever owned. Highly recommended.

I must say i love music and also enjoy great sound when watching a movie, this receiver delivers great sound, the mic provided along with the stand does an amazing job calibrating the audio, when you first turn the receiver set up screen comes on, it walks you tru the whole set up and its so easy that a 5 year old can do it, i have own denon, yamaha and onkyo receivers in the past but this has to be the best receiver i have own so far, worth every penny, i would highly recommend it, you will not be disappointed.

my last system was so large, it barely fit in my component cabinet. This unit produces better sound and is nearly half the size in every dimension, allowing for great air circulation. Does not overheat. Video pass through of 4K is great too.

This thing is great, it is low profile and fits in my tv cabinet perfectly. The sound is amazing. I am only running 5.1 in that room, but it sounds great with power to spare. Interface is easy to use and setup is a breeze! You get what you pay for, do you want great sound?

Hard to say one receiver sounds better than another, but I replaced a Sony 1070 with this for several reasons and I'm very impressed with everything I've done. Setup was very easy, just follow the on-screen instructions. The Amp Settings are very flexible (multi-zone or bi-amping or various other surround/Atmos setups). For me best feature was the low profile to fit in my cabinet (though it is a bit deeper than the Sony was) and better compatibility with my 4 ohm speakers. Streaming to the Marantz seems to be more reliable too.

First off, I got a great deal on this receiver as it was a discontinued model and the price was almost half what it would have been say a year ago, so that was a plus. Set-up was a breeze and I have had zero issues with it so far. Smooth transitions no matter which device I switch to is a welcome change from my prior device. Sales rep was very helpful in making my decision based on what I wanted to get out of the device.

The Marantz brand is known for sound quality -- I would agree that this receiver has excellent sound. It powers our tuner, BluRay, DVD player, CD player, TV and provides very good internet radio with selections done from vTuner which works pretty well. The instructions and manual could use some work but I eventually figured it all out.

I've had this receiver for about a month and it has really delivered. Great sound. So silky at any volume! The wireless connectivity, internet radio, and app control are absolutely as promised. I haven't found anything that I don't like about this receiver to date. Worth every penny plus.

    Good but complicated Receiver

I wanted the best receiver I could afford and this was the most recommended by Best Buy staffers at a couple different locations. It was well reviewed online, but what wasn't mentioned by what I read is how complicated it is to set up. The downloadable users manual is 289 pages and sometimes it is not easy for the layman to understand some of the terminology. I know enough to be dangerous but ended up Googling a bunch of stuff. Once you do get it set up it is super cool with the automatic things it does. It senses when you turn on various things like Apple Tv or Airplay from iTunes and turns itself on and goes to your pre selected sound profile.I will eventually have time to learn all of the intricacies of this Receiver but for now it sounds great. That reminds me, setting up the sound system was pretty cool by using the provided microphone and moving it around the room so it could figure out how it all sounds. Overall I like this receiver but I wish it was a bit easier to setup.

I original purchased an Elite Pioneer and was disappointed with it completely. Half the time it would pass the HDMI properly. So I went and got this low profile Marantz and it is soooo much better than the Pioneer. LOVE IT!

The name Marantz and the price would suggest this an excellent receiver. It is. I am thrilled. As a review of this receiver's features would suggest, it is a complicated piece of hardware. The directions for setting it up and using it are very clear and I had no difficulty. The manual is crucial and a downloaded, searchable pdf copy on a notebook made it straightforward.

We had an older Sony receiver that we purchased as a surround sound package several years ago. It was starting to give us problems. We went to Best Buy to see what was new. The salesman was very helpful and showed us several different models that would work for us. We decided on the Marantz since we were familiar with the brand and knew they make quality stereo equipment. We are extremely pleased with our purchase. It is a totally different machine from our old receiver so it has taken us a little time to be able to operate it properly. We would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a quality receiver.

There aren't many options for a low profile home theater receiver, but I'm glad this is one of them. Puts out plenty of high quality sound and suitable for multiple speaker configurations. My poorly configured 7:1 setup (with rears in the ceiling) was transformed into a great 5:2:2 Dolby Atmos setup that sounds awesome.
