    Replaces my old Marantz

I am a bit of an audiophile but am on a retiree's budget. My old Marantz receiver died either from old age or from cat vomit that dripped into the unit. This new one does every thing that my old one did and adds some new possibilities. I wanted power, low distortion, and the ability to have surround sound and speakers in other rooms. This one gives me a couple more options for surround (9-1 vs 7-1). It also can connect to wireless speakers (patio). It allows me to get rid of the preamp that I needed with my turntable. It will work with the old powered Advent speakers that I am rebuilding. I will be able to shatter the windows in the master bedroom.

Awesome sound, really powerful. Menu settings can be a little confusing. Wish that there was more data on the digital screen on the receiver itself (like the 7012, but can't justify the extra $$$)

I had my eye on 6012 for several months and also the Yamaha 1070, but when the price dropped as the 6013 model was announced, I immediately pounced on the chance to own one at a great price. The sound is far superior to my expectations and magnitudes above my ancient Yamaha receiver it replaced. Easy set up, easy calibration, and superb sound. I still have not had it long enough to play around with additional room settings, but very pleased with the standard set up parameters. No issues with Bluetooth streaming or any other problems. Will repost if anything comes up unexpectedly. Plenty of power and the Atmos decoder is superb as I am hearing things I never thought possible. May go for an outboard amp and the full 9.1 capability of this receiver, but for now am very satisfied with my 5.1.2 set up. With all the inputs it has, I will never outgrow the capabilities of this receiver. Still exploring it's vast capabilities. My only criticism is the porthole display as I am used to the larger conventional displays but since everything is on screen on the TV, it is really a non-issue once I began using it. Integration with both my Comcast remote and my Logitech remote makes the supplied remote something that will collect dust and I even removed the batteries so they don't leak in an unused remote. Glad I was patient and waited for the price drop as this was really the one I wanted so I did not have to settle for a lesser brand to fit my budget. It was like getting a filet mignon and paying for a hamburger. At any price, this receiver is truly worth the money.

Set up was easy, but took about 2 hours to complete. The Audyssey multi EQ certainly optimized the Def Tech speakers. Sound was great and the 4K HDR worked perfect. That's where the positives end. Conversion of Component video to HDMI out has latency and makes playing games on older consoles difficult. Bluetooth is a joke. It does not work. Glitches without stop. Airplay worked for a little while then started dropping out. Attached the ethernet cable, to improve the connection to the computer, but that froze the amp. Only a factory reset would bring the amp back to life. After a factory reset, you need to go through redo the entire set-up. No thanks. Brought it back to Best Buy and the customer service was excellent. Replaced it with a Yamaha RX-A1070. Yamaha works flawlessly, the YPAO multi location optimized speakers just as good as the Marantz and no latency on the analog to HDMI conversion. Bluetooth and Airplay work without flaw. Yamaha also has a lot more DSP sound stages to play with to optimize for the type of music and mood. Marantz functions are compromised, it is not worth the money and trouble to have an amp that partially works.

    First Marantz in 20 years

Haven't had a Marantz for about 20 years and am happy with the new product so far. Needed the power and multiple channels for my new Atmos system. Replaced my high end Onkyo system and so far so good. I have seen mixed reviews on other sites for this unit and am assuming it was on earlier released models and the bugs are worked out. I will update my review if anything changes.

This receiver is gorgeous with great aesthetics. It has more hdmis than you could need. The amazing sound I have now with just recently adding 2 more Dolby atmos ceiling speakers makes the hairs on my neck stand up. This was my best purchase to date. Easy to set up with the video guide and the controller is simple to use. 5 stars.

This is a very good receiver. I have had for about two weeks and overall i'm satisfied considering what I primarily use it for (watching tv/movies). My only gripe would be that the bluetooth connection does glitch sometimes. I tried listening to music from my phone through the bluetooth setting and it wasn't great, you could hear glitching sounds. Whereas I could screen mirror to my tv and have the sound ran to the receiver with no problem, which tells me the issue is with the receiver bluetooth. I don't use this feature much and don't have plans to use it much but if someone was purchasing with that in mind just thought you should know. But other than that I am completely happy with the receiver. I run all of my components to the receiver and then one cable to my samsung qled. It has no problem sending the 4k hdr signal through to the tv. Make sure you go into settings to enable that feature though.

Purchased the Marantz SR6012 on sale for $899. I'm extremely happy with the sound quality for both music and home cinema use. I would describe the sound and accurate, crisp, with some warmth. It drives my 4 ohm ELAC UNI-FI speakers with no problems. Love this receiver! It is also a very attractive receiver,if that matters to you.

I purchased this item right as the sr6013 was coming out, at the reduced price of 899. This is a great receiver once you spend the time to tune and set it up correctly. Plenty of inputs and the ability to bi amp the front speakers while still retaining 7.2 were huge pluses for me. I nicked a star for the small front display, issues I am having with the marantz remote app, and charging $20 for the audessey app. From a hardware standpoint, a wonderful product.

Awesome features, had to return after one of the channels didn’t work properly. Instead I purchased the Pioneer LX503 both are great, but the LX503 was a couple hundred less. I have a 5.4.1 system. The Marantz performed very well. I would purchase again if the Pioneer goes out on me under the return time frame. Love how simplistic the front display is and the sound editing functions.

Upgraded our entertainment system with the Marantz SR6012. Fantastic sound. Very easy to set up and use. Has all of the connection points that you could want, including a ground for our turn-table (we still have some vinyl).

Feature rich. Drives great sound through Polk RTis. Integrates with TV sound seamlessly. Atmos has brought the ceiling speakers to life. Adding a couple more ceiling speakers to increase the sound stage.

Replaced an older Yamaha, needed some extra HDMI inputs for the growing list of peripherals. I like the features like a phono input for my turntable, zone 2 audio and video out, and you can do tweaks to the sound levels right on screen. Setup takes some time to get through, but it sounds pretty good to me. I had always wanted to get a Marantz, but the cost always scared me off because it’s not like I’m a hardcore audiophile- but it was on super sale. I do think this receiver has a little better depth of sound than the old Yamaha did. I’m still figuring out some of the controls, but I’m getting there with the help of the online manual.

I got this AV receiver by price match to replace my Sony STRDN1080 receiver, which has a great sound quality. The Marantz 6012 brings the sound quality to a new level and has much better sound stage. I can hear more detail that I have missed with other receivers. It's also a great choice for watching movies. Highly recommend it. The only minor negative I think is the HEOS app when playing music from my music library. It doesn't play music continuously unless you add selected files to the queue.
