Great expandable reciever. To get the most out of this receiver and ones like it be prepared to buy an amplifier so you can use all 11 channels. Also invest in an Ac Infinity cooler. If you run your speakers through the receiver, it will get hot and heat is the enemy of all electronic devices. Run the Audessy calibration to get the best sound from your speakers.

I dreamt of owning this product for over a year, and finally pulled the trigger on it this year to complete my home theater.
I purchased this receiver to get the atmos speakers on my Def Tech BP9080x towers working, being I've had the towers for over a year and never was able to enjoy that feature of them. I wasn't expecting much, but was shocked how much the atmos speakers added to movies.
Regarding the "Marantz" sound - I'm not sure if i'm not an audiophile, and therefore can't appreciate the nuances of this receiver, but the sound seems similar to my Sony receiver that this product replaced.
The most noticeable difference in switching to this receiver was the bass. On my old Sony, I had to crank up the bass to +6 to get any performance out of my subs. With the Marantz, there is no "bass" setting on the receiver, so the only way to alter the level of bass is actually adjusting the nob on the back of the Def Tech BP9080x towers, but DANG!!! I have the subs turned to about 20%, and have seriously had the neighbor texting me in minutes of turning any action movie on! I cannot believe how much bass this receiver kicks out!
Overall, great product. I'm not sure if the "value proposition" is there with this product, but if you're looking to purchase a product you'll be proud to own, and you're like me where the legend of Marantz gets in your soul and you have to fulfill the desire to experience one no matter the cost, you'll love it.
As many have noted, the only major downside is that the only way to adjust the speaker settings is to leave your movie, go into the "setup" interface of the receiver, and adjust from there. There is not a great way to "adjust on the fly" when watching a movie. You are forced to leave the entire movie, make the adjustments, log back into the movie to verify if the adjustment made an improvement, and continue with that process until you're happy. Much more cumbersome than my old Sony that you could adjustment levels, treble, bass, balance, etc, all while watching movie (so you got real time feedback of the adjustments)

I have owned this receiver for 2 weeks now. This powerful receiver is loaded with the lastest features. It's 8K ready with plenty of HDMI ports for all of your important devices. My speakers are Goldenear 4 RT-7000's and supersub XXL, and Goldenear's xl super cinema sound bar. The sound quality is outstanding. I would highly recommend looking at Goldenear speaker to pair with this awesome av receiver by Marantz.

I have a 9.1 system. Definitive technology front speakers. My original receiver had trouble getting enough power to the center speaker which resulted in trouble hearing voices in movies and sporting events. Not a problem with this receiver. It has plenty of power. There was a bit of a learning curve getting the system set up, but overall, it has exceeded my expectations!

Purchased 11/01/19. Had problems shortly after with system cutting out during playback. Best Buy convinced me it was blue tooth interference. The problem went away and then came back about a week after it was no longer returnable. After using it for about the tenth time at 70% power it failed. Out of all the times I've used it I had issues about 20% of the time. $5,500.00 worth of equipment now junk as of 05/03/20. Hope Marantz's warranty is better than we usually get.

I recently bought this Marantz AV receiver for my living room setup at home and have been pretty happy with it so far. It has every connection possible and decodes every audio format available currently. It has plenty of power (110w/channel @ 8ohm) as long as you aren't driving power-hungry speakers. I currently have Pioneer Andrew Jones LR, CC, surrounds, and sub. Sound quality for this receiver is quite good. I am going to be upgrading those to B&W 600 series in the next few months. I would like to go with the B&W 700 series, but the living room setup doesn't get as much use as our basement theater setup. Packaging for the receiver was good, installation was fairly easy as well. My biggest complaint on this receiver is the display. You have to connect the receiver to your television using a HDMI cable to see what you are doing while setting up the receiver. There are no setup options other than doing this. Every other AV receiver I have used (Pioneer, Denon, Sony) allows setup without a television. This might be exclusive to Marantz, I'm not sure. I don't use the video pass through from my UHD Blu-ray player to the television, I connect it directly to the television. I might change this up in the future, but I like it that way for now. Lastly, the receiver looks absolutely stunning in my living room. Marantz has always had beautiful designs for their equipment. I would have liked to go with one of their more expensive models, but this is the biggest one that would fit my television stand. PSA: make sure to check the dimensions of your AV cabinet or television stand before purchasing.

I can't be a good judge of audio quality cuz I wear hearing aids so nothing sounds natural and great anymore, but at least I can hear speech better. I really miss hearing great sounding music naturally, but it is what it is. Sometimes my 5.1 sounds great though and the Marantz video processing made a noticeable improvement on my aging Samsung Plasma, last one they made. Not super dramatic, but the colors were more saturated so everything looked a bit better. Like my Yamaha 3000 receiver, the plasma went out recently and I replaced it with a Sony OLED, so the video is great now, obviously. As with video, audio output varies quite a bit with the source, so I'm glad this receiver gives me lots of room to alter the sound to something I can enjoy. I just wish the remote/software would respond more quickly cuz I need to tweak the output so often due to my hearing issues. If I didn't need to do that, it would be ok, but since I need to reach the submenus again and again, make an adjustment, back out and check it, then maybe do it again, it quickly get's tiresome if the system won't keep up with me. My 67 yr old brain is getting more familiar with the menus and where to go to make what adjustments, but getting there takes a little too for me. The Sony tv remote and menu layout is better and faster. Otherwise, the Marantz seems to be a good sounding and powerful unit and pairs nicely with my Martin Logan SL3s. Vocals sound smooth and full, I'm able to tweak the full freq. spectrum, and there is more than enough clear and solid thump and rumble. Haven't listened to a lot of music yet, but so far, so good. The only poor design feature is the small porthole display. It is unique and distinctive, but sometimes there is a good reason to look mainstream. The text is clear but if your not within 6 ft, it's kinda useless. You almost have to have a display to use the music functions, but the Sony makes it easy to turn off the display and leave the music on, even though I linked the Sony remote to turn both units on/off with one touch. Maybe Marantz figured on that and kept the porthole. I don't have overhead speakers but I can say that the Atmos Virtual sound is noticeable. It makes the front soundstage wider and taller than normal 5.1, and provides overhead sound effects that 5.1 cannot. What I also noticed though was that voices diminished quite a bit with Speaker Virtual on. Perhaps I need to boost the Center Channel when I turn SV on. Yet another tweak, sigh. Overall I like the performance very much. If it weren't for my hearing problems, I wouldn't need to tweak so often and the porthole might be my only dislike.

About 7 years ago, I upgraded my home theater receiver from what I thought was a really nice Yamaha receiver to a very nice Pioneer Elite receiver. I did not upgrade speakers, but just the receiver. When I bought the Pioneer Elite and hooked it up, I was astonished at the sound difference it made with my old reliable speakers after running the built in MCAAC speaker calibration. I was amazed how much better it made my speakers sound. I thought this might just be my last receiver (unless it were to die before I did). Needless to say, I was very happy with the receiver and the speaker setup, until I moved to a new house and setup the same system in a much more complex, very open space with 2 story ceilings and balconies, etc. I tried (and tried) to get the Pioneer Elite MCAAC to calibrate properly in the room, but it just didn't sound right. I spent hours trying to manually tweak equalizer settings, loudness setting, etc, but with no significant improvement. Eventually I broke down and decided to look for a new receiver, believing that the problem was not the speakers. After reading reviews and studying about the Audyssey room calibration software, I sprang for the SR6013 because it has the higher end Audyssey MultEQ XT32, Dynamic Volume and Dynamic EQ. Once I swapped out receivers, I ran the room Audyssey calibration. Immediately, I didn’t hear the difference, until I simply turned on the MultiEQ setting. Then, BOOM – another quantum leap in speaker sound quality and balance between the 7 year old Pioneer Elite and the Marantz. This Marantz SR6013 receiver, made a huge difference in how my speakers sounded in the big – odd shaped open space room. It even sounds great up in the balcony. I am a very happy camper. The Direct Pure Auto mode for Stereo music is simply delicious. The Dolby Surround sound with the MultiEQ ON is just astonishing. The vocal clarity of what is coming from my center channel speaker while watching movies and every day TV is astounding. The 4 presets for preferred sound settings makes it super easy to recall the settings you love, which is a huge upgrade from the Pioneer Elite in itself, but the sound difference seals the deal. If you can afford it and you care about quality sound, buy it.

I have had Denon, Pioneer Elite, Onkyo and now Marantz and this is by far the best sounding receiver that I have owned. On all other brands, when you switch to stereo to listen to music, they sound quiet and very artificial. The Denon and Pioneer Elite sounded great with movies and the Marantz is no different. Where this receiver shines is in music playing. It can do home theater surround with the best of them but when it comes to music this thing is very noticeably better. It has a full sound that is very clear and natural sounding. When you turn it up it sounds like a live performance. Hard to describe but go hear one for yourself. I must note that I got rid of my Pioneer Elite because it had issues every time I turned it on with connecting to an LG OLED tv. This Marantz has no such issues. It just works. One other note, the menu on Marantz receivers is very simple and easy to find what you need. It also shows you diagrams of the back panel speaker connections for each type of setup. If you are doing bi-amp front speakers like I am, it shows you exactly what connections to use for each speaker. I have to say the manual online was wrong on which set to use and the diagram in the menu onscreen was correct so go by that for sure. Setup was simple and room correction is the best I have seen in a major brand. I will not recommend Onkyo to anyone. It worked great switching sources but the sound was the worst I have heard in years. Very weak sounding and not that clear. Overall the Marantz 6014 is a great unit, try one today.

Got this to replace a 2015 Onkyo TX-NR646 7.2 receiver. The onkyo seemed to have more raw power, but muddied the sound. This receiver definitely produces a cleaner overall sound that seems more dynamically balanced across all speakers. My Klipsch in wall THX speakers sound absolutely beautiful now when listening to music. I also added the Klipsch height speakers. This receiver brings movies to life with the Dolby Atmos for full submersion.
Set up wasn’t super easy, but wasn’t a major pain either. I did have to pop 1 speaker out to double check the wiring as it was going thru set up. All in all, I think it took 4-5 tries before it finally acknowledged everything was wired correctly & went thru start to finish. It is a little frustrating it makes you start completely over regardless of where you are in the process.
The Marantz app is clean & easy to use. My opinion, for functional & user friendly than the Onkyo app. The additional HEOS app is absolutely amazing!!! All my music in 1 spot & run thru the receiver. Doesn’t matter if I’m listening to Sirius XM or Tidal, the music sounds crisp & balanced.
Only down side, I haven’t been able to get the CEC to work well with my LG tv. I’ve gone thru the process a million times, but can’t get the receiver to turn on/off when the tv does. A minor nuisance.
If on the fence with this receiver, don’t be. This thing is truly amazing!! The small display is functional & you get used to it. The onscreen display makes it super user friendly. You won’t be disappointed with this receiver.

I purchased as open box for $1050 from Best Buy. I recently connected system to a Klipsch 5.1 system and has really brought the speakers to life without even adding an amp.
I would definitely recommend this receiver to someone who is looking to power an above average 5.1 or 7.1 home theater system and not looking to go too crazy with a separate amplifier and or really high end speakers. Although this receiver would do a more than respectable job in my opinion.

Upgraded to this from an older 5.1 receiver to be able to do a 5.2.4 Atmos setup and it really screams! With an addition of a 2 channel amp it is possible to do up to a 7.4.4 setup so there is still room to upgrade without replacing the receiver. It's plenty loud with even halfway up with plenty of headroom to really shake the room. The Audyssey room calibration works great (even better if you pay for the app) and sound is very sharp. Overall a great quality piece for the price.

I have had Yamaha receivers for the past 20+ years. When my Aventage 880 could not be fixed by Best Buy, after six months of use, I switched to Marantz for its 9.2 functionality and higher wattage. It has Amazon Music HD, along with others that run directly on the receiver. I didn't want to stream music from my iPhone because of the loss of fidelity; which I am beginning to tell the difference as being better.
Since I have Martin Logan L/R/C speakers I needed a receiver that could handle 4-ohm speakers, which this receiver does have a setting. The Yamaha receiver did not have a setting for them. I do have to turn up the volume to the mid-point just to a pleasant listening experience. I have turned up to 85-90% volume setting to get good movie sound effects. This tells me that they are probably reducing the wattage by 50% to not damage the receiver... Movies, music and TV is clear and intelligible.
The HEOS app is not that good though. Yamaha's was better.
The front display is stupidly small. I am sitting 15 feet away and can't see anything on it. I knocked off one star because of this.

I've had the Marantz SR6014 for several weeks now and I'm extremely satisfied with this purchase. This receiver replaced my Denon 3805 which I had for 15 years. The Marantz doesn't weigh as much but it definitely packs a punch. It supports that latest standards (Atmos, DTS-X, Airplay 2, etc...) and support some of th HDMI 2.1 capabilities now. The iPhone apps (HEOS, Marantz) have been working flawlessly. I have really enjoyed streaming Tidal (FLAC) directly from the Marantz. Calibrating the Marantz was easy using the included Audyssey multeq xt32. Overall, it has been a great receiver so far and the fact that many components are firmware upgradable, it should last me about a decade or so.

Looking around for a 9.2 AV Reciever proved challenging with so many products available and tons of reviews posted. While some seem very appetizing, their reliability, as reported by users, became questionable. So I looked back of many years using Marantz and the reliabilty has been solid with zero complaints.
The high-end AVR I bought, (NOT Marantz), died a complete death twice and finally became a dumpster citizen.
So Marantz was it without question. I will never look back. This receiver took the complicated set up of home to a simple straight forward approach that was a welcome breath of fresh air.
Never fond of room correction but the Audyssey XT 32 was spot on with some nudging of the LFE. Dynamic volume a big plus keeping the sound artifacts intact and from fading into oblivion when tons of action is going on,
Overall a great-sounding AVR which has launched our living room into home theater heaven.

I originally ordered Pioneer with similar specifications. I had purchased Klipsch reference 5.1.2 set from bestbuy also and for some reason Pioneer AVR was delayed from manufacturer. I waited for couple of week but then an associate at local store suggested to go for Marantz. Bestbuy did offered additional discount for being late with order of Pioneer.
Klipsch and Marantz is better combination, now I can say that. With lots of features and options. I am good for few years until I upgrade my home theater.
Only down side is it gets hot (really hot like I can cook an egg on top of it) however, by keeping it not enclosed in my credenza and providing fan, all problem averted.
