If your an avid player of mario parties 1-8, forget everything you know about mario party and come at this with a clean slate. You will appreciate the game much more if you do. Here's why: There are no stars and no coins, only mini stars, and they come and go so often that there feels like there is little value to them. You can win every mini game, and someone can pass through some mini star gates and be beating you in a turn or two. There's competition, but little strategy is involved. The boards are point a to point b, so you can't have 50 turn games or adjust how long you play each game at all. Everyone moves together. Mini games are more sparse, you only get them if you land on a mini game space. There's not much to unlock, and anything important to unlock (characters, modes, sleighs) were unlocked in a single evening.
However, I will hold my ground with the four star rating, because if you come at this with a fresh mind, it's fun to play, and there's a lot of different modes to keep you interested. Also, it's 5 players which is awesome because there always seems to be an odd number of us together.
The idea of playing bowser brings out all of our evil sides. I love how the use the game pad in the games, I just wish there were more. I've recorded videos and had many laughs over Bowser Mode. I also like that four of us get to play coop instead of fighting each other for once.
The amiibo gameplay is great and I love the little details they included with it, but the board is so small, it would have been nice to have a little more elaborate of a board to play on to make it a little less boring. I also cannot play my favorite character because her Amiibo was limited run, and we had to go out and buy another amiibo because the bowser one we had changed the gameplay.
The standard party is pretty much similar to Mario party 9, so if you hated it, you'll probably hate this too. They did add a neat concept of freeing bowser from the game pad, which we like. The way I see it is if I want to play the old way I have the old games to go back to, and this way is fun too, you just lose some of that competition and strategy you get in the old ones. It's almost like they keep dumming them down so anyone can win.
Anyways, pick it up, it's fun, just make sure to have a clean mind going into it!

If you enjoy the Mario Party franchise or if you just want a fun family game, thus is for you. With options to play cooperatively or every man for himself, there's tons of fun here. Mini-games abound and game play is easy.

It sure is nice to play Mario Party in 1080p! Mario Party 10 has 3 game modes, none of which are quite what I'm used to. In the regular "Mario Party" mode, instead of having the characters move individually around the board, everyone is moving together in one vehicle. My favorite mode is Amiibo Party, but this requires each player to have an Amiibo, adding up to $38.97 to the cost of the game, although you can use the Amiibos in other games as well. The extra mini games are also a blast, so don't forget to check them out.

If you're looking for that good, old-fashioned fun that video games used to afford back in the day when Nintendo was still top dog in the gaming industry, then this game is for you- and possibly your family, if you have one to play with. I will concede that this game was designed specifically for the shared experience; however, if you have no one to play with, yet still enjoy those solo moments of playing party games against CPU's, this baby will still bring you several hours of competitive, good-natured fun. And, as Nintendo is often wont to do, they stepped up their game slightly and added a few more interesting twists that will keep you from getting bored too quickly. If nothing else, play it for old times' sake.

My 6 year old son was the one who wanted the game. At first I was some what hesitant to buy it since the reviews on it are mixed.. Some say it's good some say it's not good in comparison with the previous Mario Party titles.. Given that this is the first Mario Party title I have played and owned, I have to say the game is solid. It's fun and entertaining for children.. The mini games are Awesome! Overall a game I would recommend.

If you're looking for the classic Mario Party style of the original games, then you will be a little disappointed. BUT, don't let that deter you. Mario Party 10 is still a very good game. The mini-games are as fun as ever and up to 5 people can play at once, rather than just 4 like in previous titles. Movement around the board may be different, but the game is still a blast!

Pros: Three unique game modes, good variety of mini games, fantastic for parties and beautiful visuals.
Cons: Not enough depth to play more than a few boards 1 player, bowser amiibo in amiiibo party forces 3v1 everytime, and you are forced to use last gen controls for most game modes.
Overall: great game for families and friends, bad for those expecting Skyrim like depth.

I'll admit I've hardly played this game but my 5 year old daughter really enjoys "Bowser Party." It seems pretty different from Mario Party games from years past and I don't like that you can't use a Wii U Pro controller for multiplayer. I don't understand that. All in all seems like an okay game.

The Bowser Party mode is very fun and unique to the series. 3-4 players work against 1 player who controls bowser. This offers a fun new dynamic. Regular Mario Party mode is however very disappointing. Similarly to Mario Party 9, all players navigate the board together taking away any and all competitive play. You have no control over anything other than mini games and I felt that there was no point in even playing. Amiibo Party is more like the original Mario Party games and is pretty fun. You have to tap an Amiibo figure for every action though which gets old quickly. There are a few mini games that are fun but overall nothing all that memorable. This game is fun to play with some friends and the Bowser Part mode makes up for the lackluster standard mode.

Mario party 10 is a great and fun game and I'd say it is better than some of previous games over the years. I have pkayed hours of this with friends and have even beaten one of them in bowser party which is rigged just for bowser. So now my friends and I always tease him for losing as bowser.
best part of this game? getting the rights to taunt your friend when they lose as bowser.

I literally bought more Wii remotes just so all of my friends could play this game together. It's a ton of fun, whether you're playing as Bowser, or the standard Mario Party. Tons and tons of mini-games, and you can enjoy the game alone or with up to 4 friends depending on what you play.

Though this game does not own up to the total, and overall quality that Mario Party started out with, on the Nintendo 64, it still tries it's best to achieve a level of gameplay that pulls you back for more. As with any Mario Party game, this one is NOT a good single player experience, you need to have friends and family to play with in the room, or you will not enjoy it nearly as much. So far I have had two large gaming sessions with my family, and we have all had a great time, each time. It's certainly not my favorite Mario Party experience (that would be Mario Party 1 and 2 for N64) but it is still worth playing, and having a good time.

Best Game Ever (my 11 year old's review:)

This review is verbatim from my 11 year old, who is the one who bought this game:
"This game is boss. Now I'm able to play with my sisters with something they like, also. I don't know what to say, I'm bad at doing this.
"The best part about it is...that it's fun for the whole family. The best part about it is that fact that all the slots are shared among Nintendo Network IDs, and we're able to play no matter which ID we're on.
In the end it's the best game ever, or whatever."
* I will also add that his 8 year old sisters aren't quite as enthusiastic about it. This is mostly because he always plays as Bowser and they always lose, From what I've seen, Bowser (the person with the Gamepad) has a significant advantage over the other players. . Anyway, they generally still prefer Minecraft or Lego games...but fall back to this one or Mario Kart 7 because they need a 3 player game.

Mario Party 10 is an overall fun game. (Please note that I do not have any amiibo characters, nor do I intend on buying any, so I cannot review/rate the features of the game that utilize amiibos). It has the classic Mario Party mode, packed with a variety of fun mini games on different maps. The Bowser Party mode is a great 5 player adaptation where the person using the wiiu gamepad controls bowser and tries to stop the other players (whom are working together) from reaching the star at the end of the level. The two bonus games (Badminton and Jewel Drop) are both a lot of fun and quite addicting!!

As always with a Nintendo game, it is focus on everyone and of any age. Great mini games, and the new option to play as Bowser using the Wii U pad is great. Lots of fun with this Mario Party delivery. Best when it is played with 3 more persons.

Mario Party 10 mini games are fun and just as good as they have always been, but the boards are dull, and not exciting. Mario Party 9 had game changing boards that were fun and made every turn exciting. In Mario Party 10 they look better because its on the Wii U, but not as exciting or challenging. If you have a big family or friends then you will have fun playing bowser mode to make up the change up the normal play.
