It wasn’t as fun as I thought it would be. I got it for $22 so... I think for that price it was worth it.

Rabbids and Mario never entered my mind as a game, let alone a fun game, yet here it is made. I entered the game with middle of the road expectations and am happy to say they were met and more. I'd give this game a 4.5 out of 5, honestly. Since this isn't a half star system I'll give it the extra half in favor rather than against, since the developers put alot of heart and soul into it and it shows. It's a fantastic game but not perfect.
The graphics for the switch are great, the gamplay solid (xcom-lite I'd describe it) and the story while simple, filled with chuckle worthy moments and nods to Nintendo fans. The music composed by Grant Kirkhope at times reaching moments that will surprise and probably make you smile. One chapter boss probably now known quite well being a highlight. While there are far more positives then negatives it should be noted that I experienced three instances in my total experience with the game getting 100% at 30+ hours, the game hiccuping and quitting out of the blue. Lucky for me I save often so this never impeded the experience for me beyond an annoying glitch, though I felt it important to at least mention. In an otherwise fantastic game, this was it's more glaring negative, though not at all game breaking or detrimental. If your curious and like action strategy games, I'd recommend and give this a go!

A Strange Mix That Somehow Works

Like many people, I thought that the idea of a Mario and Rabbids crossover game would be bad. Then they revealed it would be an Xcom-esque tactical game and things changed pretty quickly. What was more or less considered a joke ended up turning into the best Switch exclusive so far in my opinion.
I'm going to start with the elephant in the room. The rabbids are here in full force. The minions of gaming can be annoying at times. But I felt they were handled well here. Having a comedic straight man in Mario and Beep-O helps a lot, and the humor isn't quite as 'LOLRANDOM' as I was worried about outside of the beginning.
Beyond that the story is pretty simple overall. Save mushroom kingdom from a thing. There are some great parts (a certain boss comes to mind), a solid amount of fun humor, and general a relaxed and fun atmosphere.
I want to give special note to the music. I absolutely adored it. It was done by Grant Kirkhope. So if you, like me, grew up on Banjo Kazooie, expect a nice hit in the nostalgia there. The music help keeps the worlds alive and fun.
The gameplay itself really is 'baby's first Xcom.' And honestly, I think that's great. It's a very much simplified version of Xcom where there are only three chances to hit (0, 50, 100), which makes a lot less feel bad moments of missing off an 80% hit. The gameplay does have depth as well though. The simpler style makes it feel a bit more puzzle like than a typical strategy game. Which, in my opinion, is a good thing. It's much less dependent on RNG and you're given a good amount of customization for your characters in terms of skills and weapons.
For the amount of content, I had original felt it was kind of light. It took me about 30 hours to finish the game at 100% with nothing below perfect and a lot of backtracking and exploring. Realistically you could likely finish the story in 10-15 hours if you wanted. But you'd be missing out on a good amount of content. Beyond the story, there are 10 challenges per world and some more beyond that. They can be fairly tough. Some of them I had to revisit later in the game when I had better weapons, and the final challenges offered a good amount of challenge.
Overall, it's a fun strategy game of a genre we haven't had quite yet from Nintendo. Big props to Ubisoft for this one. They knocked this game out of the park.

Like many of the other reviews here, I thought the same thing: Mario and....Rabbids? Seriously? This game is going to be awful!
Boy was I wrong. The comparisons to X-Com are apt. This is turn based, your team vs 'the mission.' Sometimes you just need to defeat all the enemies. Sometimes it's defeat 4. Sometimes it's escort (yes, escort missions...not as bad as you think). Sometimes just defeat the boss.
If you are having trouble on a battle, you can launch it in easy mode, which lasts just the duration of that fight (it heals you to full and gives you an additional 50% HP).
This one is a must-have....and I can't believe I just typed that.

This may very well be the second best game of Switch after Zelda, and is the best exclusive Switch game thus far. The game is funny, containing all of the humor that has come to be associated with the Rabbids. The gameplay is fun yet challenging. The ability to play levels at a lower difficulty is s great feature. Experienced players will enjoy the challenge while newer players can still make progress. The strategy required to win each battle us varied and a constant source of fun. Perfect for pick up and play sessions as well as all night marathons.

I love games like Final Fantasy Tactics and Xcom, so seeing this game got my interest. While I was worried about the inclusion of the Rabbid characters, I was surprised by how well everything works in the actual game. For any strategy fans, it's a bit on the easy side, but it was amazing to have this as a portable experience.

The mix of classic Mario characters with the goofy Rabbids creates a fun and quirky atmosphere. Combat is tactical but accessible, making it great for both newcomers and seasoned players. The colorful visuals and catchy soundtrack add to the game's overall appeal. It’s a unique and enjoyable experience that’s definitely worth picking up for Switch owners.

I was skeptical when they announced this at E3, but seeing the gameplay changed my mind. This game is so fun and enjoyable. Not as hard as Xcom, which is perfect for me. The rabbids are actually funny and not annoying. Luigi is mah boi.

Mario + Rabbids is a surprisingly deep strategy game, similar to something like XCom in many ways, but with a very approachable gameplay. The game does a good job layering in the complexity and tactics you will need to use to win your battles. That said, this game is not for everyone and there will be many people who try it out that will not enjoy it at all. If the idea of a tactical battle game appeals to you though, I highly recommend giving it a try. The control outside of the battles is a little wonky as you move this Roomba-looking thing around to control your squad, but other than that the game looks and plays great.

Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle is a mouthful of a title and a concept that thoroughly confused me when I first heard it (the first offical Mario + Rayman crossover is not a 2D platformer, and Rayman is not in it‽) but I gave it a fair shot, and it is an excellent take on the Xcom flavor of turn-based strategy games! On the flavor side, the story that sets up the game is not particularly deep or interesting, but individual character moments are still fun and charming, and particular characters will definitely leave memorable impressions even if the overall story does not. In terms of visuals, Mario + Rabbids is nothing special—most things have that plastic-y low-texture-detail look gamers have been used to since the 2000s (albeit now in HD)—though the designers did, at least, take advantage of the art direction and put a decent amount of fun details into the world. On the gameplay side, however, is where Mario + Rabbids really shines. The weapon damage types and cover system are easy to pick up, and the difficulty ramps up in a way that continues to challenge without overwhelming you. As you upgrade your characters and their weapons, the characters' individual strengths start to shine through, but never in a way that felt like the game was pushing me to use a particular character, or be too attached to my existing party when I unlocked someone new. The individual battles within the campaign are usually short enough to be convenient to play in bite-size chunks, which worked well for me since I played most of this game on-the-go in handheld mode. I would definitely recommend it if you are a fan of games like Xcom and want a sort of lite version to play on-the-go, if you are looking for a good intro. to the genre, or if you just want to see a wacky Mario-inspired take on it.

While there is a little bit of a learning curve the game as a fresh twist on the Mario series. Graphics are amazing and you would expect nothing less from the game series. Learning curve is about 20 minutes for younger players. Controls for the game could be improved

Mario x Rabbids Kingdom Battle doesn't look like it has the makings of greatness, but its odd combination of two existing IPs with a new strategy RPG base somehow manages to succeed. Look past silly Rabbid humor and you'll find an engrossing game with solid gameplay, good performance, and many hours of fun to be had. The story is weak, but the characters are endearing and expressive enough to keep from being bland, and there's just enough momentum to keep you going from battle to battle. The biggest downside is multiplayer being local split-screen only with no local wireless or online option. If you like turn-based tactics, this game is definitely worth a second look-- it's both charming and fun.

This games is very well polished and a surprising collaboration that I hope leads to future games.
the gameplay is turn-based tactics and different from a typical mario. the characters and levels are goofy and graphically pleasing universal.
The games is solid all around, for those who like strategy games, and i feel that the difficulty was a smooth progression with tough enemies. theres enough treasures tucked on the map between levels to keep you searching, and battles give plenty of weaponry and abilities combos.
I was surprised by how much fun it is

Very impressed by the production value of the game. The animation is very well done making the game memorable (especially bosses). The game has plenty of humor about both the Rabbids and the Mario franchise. The gameplay itself starts slow as it teaches you all the rules but has quite a bit of depth. Characters have unique attributes allowing for different style approaches to each map. The graphics are bright, colorful, and lovely. There is some slow down in certain areas but doesn't deter greatly from the experience. A decent amount of post-story content.
