I'm a big fan of strategy tactics-style games and this bizarre combo is a fantastic addition to the Switch's library and gives it some much-needed diversity. The powers are great and the Rabbids are hilarious. If you're in the mood for a different flavor of Mario, this is it! I would say it's a bit complicated for those under 10 or so, especially past the mid-way point where you really have to think ahead to avoid slaughter.

Mario + Rabbids allows players to experience gameplay similar to the XCOM series without having to deal with the base building and menu juggling that happens outside of the tactical maps. Weapon Upgrades are straight forward and your ability progression doesn't require a great deal of thought.
So what the game ends up boiling down to is picking your units and using them effectively on the map. Will you bring Luigi, a sniper into a map with close quarters scenarios? How will you deal with the area of effect of Rabbid Mario's shotgun? These along with the different abilities each fighter carries adds just enough depth to keep you on your toes as your enemies spread out and do their best to exploit your bad plays.
Mario + Rabbids is a very fair game throughout but once you start getting into a groove it is quick to remind you when you are too confident. Ignoring the cover system and/or the effects and abilities of various enemies on the map will often lead you to losing at least one character. I lost count of the times I forgot that activating skills that cause you to shoot an enemy when it moves can have dire consequences when a melee berserker type unit comes into view (they get free movement whenever they take damage).
It's a fun game that can satisfy the tactical itch without having to get bogged down worrying about what is going to happen 3-4 maps down the line. Sometimes you want that extra strategic depth, but after rolling through so many strategy games it was refreshing to just let myself enjoy the moment to moment actions.

This game is really a great surprise. I was a fan of the X-COM reboot, but never felt compelled to beat it after a few tries. It was too punishing and made me feel I was wasting my time. However, I knew this game definitely borrowed a lot from X-COM, but was more user friendly. It's awesome. It's the same X-COM turn-based strategy but more fun. It's challenging in later levels but doesn't strive to throw away your hours of progress over something you had no way to predict or avoid. It's fun in co-op, though the levels built for it are separate form the main game and a little sparse. The single player is perfect for the Switch as it's great to play it on the go. One of the few games that feels better portable than docked. The graphics are great (maybe better than main line Mario games) and serve the game well. The Rabbids are usually annoying and they are here as well, but in a more toned down way. They're actually kind of funny and play well into the game mechanics and story. I recommend this game as a must-have for the Nintendo Switch!

In all my years, I'd never think I would see Mario and Ubisoft's Rabbids clashing together, even with some of the spinoffs I've seen Nintendo do over the years (like Hyrule Warriors, blending Dynasty Warriors and The Legend of Zelda).
In this game, players take control of Mario and two other characters as they try to restore the balance of the Mushroom Kingdom after an invention in progress goes terribly wrong. The two characters that follow Mario can be swapped out, and you can have one character from Mario's side of the family and one Rabbid, each with their own unique stances but are otherwise combined into categories of four, making the total amount of playable characters eight.
The gameplay revolves around turns and moving pieces into strategic points to complete the objectives the game sets, such as taking out all the enemies (who are raving rabbids, by the way!), to getting to the end of the map while avoiding the onslaught of enemies that will get in your way. The difficulty can range from simple to occasionally frustrating. I found that some of the earlier maps were harder than the last world (there are four in total, by the way), and sometimes the randomness of strategy games can really wreck a good plan, such as status ailments that can affect your team's performance.
I enjoyed the game, but eventually found it tedious towards the end. I still enjoyed it, and my younger brothers were able to do the same. I put about 25 or so hours into finishing the game, and I highly recommend a game like this if you want to play a game on the fly. It's light on story, but there are plenty of challenges to do, as well as a coop mode (sadly only for additional challenges).

I have always been a Nintendo fan (although I have tried other companies as well), and thought that this game looked good. I have played a few hours of it, and still enjoy the game and what it offers. It is fun, strategic, and has enough humor in the game that I don't want to quit playing. It was easily worth the price I spent on it, and I do recommend this product.

This game seems like the perfect jumping on point for someone to the turn-based strategy genre of games. It's simple and removes a lot of the random chance that could make or break other games in this style. Only downsides are the sudden increases in difficulty, and the fact that the whole game can be ideally played with just the few opening characters, leaving many characters felling like a tacked on addition.

This is a surprising collaboration between Ubisoft and Nintendo but it makes for a fantastic strategy game that is challenging and also filled with humor. It’s a great title and perfect for on-the-go since the battles are relatively short and you can save anytime you are exploring the levels for coins and secret items. Great fun!

This game is a blast, turn based attack modes with a small amount of open world feel. This game is family oriented, however for the battles and strategic gameplay aspect, I’d recommend for an older crowd. Early teens and adults. Kids will love to watch you play it. Screen play is funny and the story line is hilarious.

I honestly love this game. It's a great looking, fun, and PORTABLE little strategy RPGish game. A little reminiscent of Mario RPG, it packs upgrades and challenges enough to keep you busy for a good little while. The game isn't overly challenging, but it's challenging enough to make it very fun for all ages.

Let me start by saying that this is probably the best and most comical RTS (Real Time Strategy) game you will ever play. I have roughly 150 hours in the game which includes playing the optional DLC…which is great by the way. Well worth the price. Anyway, this game is both easy and extremely difficult and it all depends on you. Let me explain. While it can be easy to complete most levels, getting perfect (completing a level under a certain number of turns with no deaths) completions are typically very difficult. Whether or not that is necessary depends solely on your playstyle. The story makes sense and is very funny. Plenty of hilarious cutscenes to see. The game routinely makes fun of Nintendo and its characters. Hell the Rabbids are essentially parodies of the Nintendo’s characters. Spoiler alert: Rabbid Peach is the star of the show and no, she does NOT need saving. There are plenty of collectibles, challenges, secrets, and puzzles if that is your thing. Trust me. Many of them will take real concentration. Do NOT be fooled by the game’s simplistic and childlike appearance as many of you adults will struggle to complete some of its challenges and puzzles. Outside of the story, the best part about this game is its mechanics. Most RTS games typically allow you to only perform one action per character per turn. This game allows you to perform many actions per turn and in any order. For example, while using Mario you can move and Dash one enemy, continue moving towards your teammate, jump off of them to headstomp another enemy, then bouning behind cover. From there you can activate/use a special, then shoot your enemy of choice if in range. Another thing to note is the games personality and character. Everyone one the battlefield has so much personality and quirkiness. Enemies in front of your intended target will duck to avoid being hit like someone NOT willing to risk their life. When the targeted enemy knows your attack will not hit them, they hide behind the wall with a confident evil smile. These little details make the game better in some many ways. The character upgrade system is diverse and forgiving. If you took a path to unlock a specific upgrade that you was necessary to complete the last level, but is now completely useless in your current one, you can reset your upgrade purchases and start anew without losing anything you have earned. The weapons are very cool and do make a difference. They also contain funny names and comical descriptions. Weapons stats/bonuses are simple and easy to understand.
Concisely, this is one of the most unique and entertaining experiences released over the last few years. If you like a challenge and like to laugh, pick this game up.

I picked up Mario+Rabbids after seeing it on the shelf because, frankly, there weren't any other new games available yet. Imagine my surprise when I spent the weekend completely engrossed in an Xcom-style tactical adventure! This is a game that shouldn't exist, but it does and it's fantastic.

Lots of toilet humor with the Rabbids fill this delightful strategy game from Ubisoft and Nintendo. The game presents a challenge, but isn’t difficult to master. It may seem repetitive at times, but as you progress through the game, the puzzles become a little more difficult. There’s enough variety to keep you occupied and interested.

Wow what a fun experience this game was. I would never have expected for Ubisoft to get a game so perfectly executed with the Mario franchise, much less in a strategy style of gameplay. This is probably the best 3rd party game for the Switch and I loved every minute of the 45 hours I've put into this game so far. Gameplay is well balanced, diverse and so much fun. The Mario characters fit the world, but gameplay is very different than what one would normally expect. Ubisoft did a great job here and I am very thankful for that. This game will allow younger players to be exposed to strategy style gameplay, but it will also allow seasoned veteran players to have so much fun playing an underrated strategy game with a Mario coat of paint to it. One of my favorite games on the Switch, well actually one of my favorite games this year without a doubt. Well worth the time for anyone seeking fun gameplay in a strategy style of game.

For those unaware of what type of game this is, it's really a simplified version of the really great game Xcom (I prefer Xcom because it is deeper) - simplified doesn't mean easier - set in the Mario world, adding Rabbids. It's super whimsical if you appreciate Mario and the Rabbids (which I do). It's a really nice change of pace to go to this from a serious game. The game play is turn-based (you move all of your players first, then the computer) - almost like some board games in terms of movement (x amount of spaces per characters). You get to choose from a roster of characters to play on your team - each with their own set of weapons and special abilities, so choosing your team requires strategy. You can upgrade your characters and their weapons and there are hidden things to find and others to unlock, so there's definite replayability - like challenges once you've beat a world. There's also multiplayer, which I haven't tried. I think young kids who can read will enjoy this (there's an easier setting) and as an adult, I loved it. Nice, clean fun. Though it wasn't made by Nintendo, it has all of the charm you'd expect.

I took a risk picking this up as I wasn't sure I would like the gameplay. Well I can tell you that it's super fun. I would say it's like X-Com but in the Mario/Rabbids universe. The story is funny and the gameplay is unique and engaging. Would recommend to anyone.

This is a great game. I'm sure you could nitpick several minor issues here and there, but at the end of the day this game is a great time. Part of the fun comes from the loads of personality on display in both the characters, the worlds, and the scenarios. Never a fan of Rabbids before this game, I now understand their particular charms. The reverence with which the Mario properties are treated will also be a treat for any Nintendo fan. The battles require you to carefully plan your steps, but are rarely punishing in any extreme way. In between those, you're treated to a tour through a beautiful cartoon world with light puzzles and exploration. Just enough to compliment and cleanse your palette from the strategy that makes up the bulk of the experience. Most importantly, you'll always end your time with this game wearing a smile on your face, and for that it deserves 5 stars.

This is a thoroughly entertaining game that takes advantage of Nintendo's portable concept. It's quirky and fun, and has more challenging moments than you would expect for a game with Rabbids. I highly recommend playing this if you get the chance

This game is very fun and well done. Very different and interesting gameplay and a refreshing change of Mario. The game seems like more of a children's title but certainly has a considerable challenge to it. Very strategic but inviting for newcomers to turn based strategy games.

My friend urged me to get this game because it was really fun and addicting. It surprised me especially because I never played a Rabbids game, and this is neither the normal Rabbids or the normal Mario. More like SRPG.
