I first played this game at my brother's house. It's super silly and the rabbids crack me up. I especially love playing in battle mode. I've only finished the first world so far. Hopefully the rest are just as fun.

I am not sure what I expected with this game, but it is surprisingly good. Great gameplay mixed with some really good humor. Graphics are also great with that Nintendo flare. I highly recommend this.

Who would have known that the Mario and Rabbid universe would mix? I did not, that is for sure, but what this game brings to the table is a genre that neither franchises have approached before: turn-based X-COM like strategy. The game itself is very strategic and solid in its mechanics, and though it starts out easy, the difficulty does increase. The play time for this game at the minimum is 15 hours, but it is very likely you will play 25+ hours in this game. Beside the base game, their are secrets you can find, ranging from collectables to challenges to entire new levels. Overall, this game is definitely worth the $60. I would recommend it to a friend (if they like strategy games, that is).

One of the best $15 I've ever spent. I went into this game solely because of the Mario IP and knowing nothing else. This tactical turn-based rpg is worth so much more than $15. So much so that i would pay full price for the sequel if it weren't an ubisoft game, meaning it'll be super inexpensive shortly after release. Sequel came out in Nov/Dec, and I've already seen it for $30.

If you like Xcom and want something a bit cleaner & with Mario characters, this is a perfect solution. The price has been slowly going down so it's a great edition to your Switch library

Who would've thought that a game involving Mario, his friends and some guns would be this fun? I can't put it down. The humor is top notch. The weapons definately make the game as well.

I wasn't sure what to expect with this game going in fearing coming from the xcom series that it would be too simple. To be honest the game does have simple mechanics to it, but makes up for it in creativity in how you handle fights. The humor of the game is great for all ages with some sublte and not-so-subtle adult humor. My biggest quam with this game comes in the form of limitations in party members; you are unable to have Luigi and Princess Peach in the party at the same time and the same goes for Yoshi when it is unlocked later and you are forced to have at least one rabbid in the party. Great game and got about 30 hours of fun out of it.

So this game is 100% a turn-based strategy game but don't be scared off by that. At first, this gave me pause because I don't usually play that style of game, but this game is terrific and I'm so glad I decided to purchase it. The characters are fun and the simple story is enough to bridge one battle or stage to another. The game does a great job of layering on new abilities and difficulty increases. Highly recommended!

this game just works... It has a great amount of characters, difficulty, length, story, humor, and character development; i find myself replaying levels just to redo them using different tactics. I am a fan of the mario games and this is an another great game on my list.

Greatest surprise of the year so far. Amazing game! Extremely addicting experience from the start to the end. Gameplay mechanics are easy to learn, intuitive and the menus are very straightforward. It's the perfect introduction to people who never played turn-based strategy games before or even to some players who are not big fans of the genre (like me). However, this doesn't mean it's not challenging. Some battles and boss encounters can require quite clever solutions and some tries, but it's never unfair or too hard. Also, it's fun to explore the 4 worlds searching for hidden chests and other collectibles.

Mario XCOM

Probably the most common comparison made for this game. In case you are not familiar with XCOM or its gameplay style, essentially it's a turn based strategy game. Usually two teams, either controlled by two players, or in story mode - one player controlled team versus AI controlled team.
The player can control his/her team selecting one character at a time, pointing where to move in the map (viewed from a high camera angle), choosing to then attack an enemy, or use character specific abilities - heal, increase defense, increase attack, or some other character unique power.
Typically, the flow of the game is slow due to the individual team control and strategic approach, which makes this genre not as popular as shooter or action games.
For those of us who enjoy thinking about our next move (like in chess), or risk possibilities of waiting a turn instead of moving ahead so a charged ability (usually charged by turns instead of real time) can be used for greater effect later, it is quite an addicting fun experience.
In this layout, Ubisoft and Nintendo created a great xcom style adventure, making the most unlikely mix of Mario and Rabbids (the pre-minion minions like rabbits).
Without spoiling the story (yes story in a Mario game), Rabbids get in the Mushroom Kingdom, naturally make a mess in fabric of Mario's reality, and things keep getting interesting and crazy from there. Story progresses in a linear open world style. Players can revisit the worlds and replay chapters for better scores.
In between actual battle segments, the player can explore parts of the open world, solve basic puzzles to unlock collectible art or points currency for upgrades.
Aside from strategic components, characters use megaman like arm-cannons to attack enemies. Family friendly animated violence. They can be acquired with in-game currency.
Characters for the team can be chosen and upgraded, each with their unique abilities, such as Luigi being a sniper, Rabbid Peach a healer, and Rabbid Luigi a tech character. The roaster inspires strategy and experimentation that extends the replay value.
Visuals are cartoon style like most Mario games, but in HD, and unique artistic approach from Ubisoft's team. Soundtrack is fantastic with epic and goofy orchestrated soundtrack that perfectly fits either exploration or battles.
The game is a great addition to anyone with a nintendo switch who likes strategy games. It is fun and family friendly, offering versus and cooperative mode with options that allow for playing with kids, all the way to technically challenging settings for experienced players.
Minor negatives for this near perfect game are that teams can only have 3 characters max, and that occasionally enemies are able to shoot your team from angles that are not physically possible (shot is clearly seen going through a wall). Though that happened only twice and didn't distract much from overall fun experience.

I was utterly shocked at how much fun this game is. I have always enjoyed strategy/ turn based action games like xcom. With mario/rabbids they really went with this idea and ran with it in a good way. Ubisoft payed very careful attention to minor details as im sure nintendo would not allow this game to come out without approval since its a very important IP for them. Once you play this game in person you will get that this mash up of characters works well with this genre and results in a blockbuster hit for the switch. A must by for any switch owner. I put it in the same quality as mario kart, zelda, etc..

This entry in the loose category of Mario RPGs is one of the best turn based strategy RPGs I've ever played. It starts out deceptively simple and overall it's not too difficult to get through each level, but the real challenge comes when you try to go for a "Perfect" rating in each level. You earn a "Perfect" by completing each level in a certain number of turns and making sure your whole teams survives. The challenge you unlock after completing a world also offer a better of a test your skills than the main story missions. I love this game and I hate to think of not playing it forever!

I have always liked strategy games but wasnt very sure this game would have what others had. From what was shown at e3 and other YouTube videos, it really didn't show me it was worth it. Mainly since Ubisoft and rabbids. But this mashup has turned out great. Visually it looks fantastic, there is a lot of content, very comedic and it gets hard, like unexpectedly hard. That got my attention. I ended playing it for hours after the challenge hit me. You really do need to respec you team, talent tree and weapons. You gotta change your team out to really maximize your potential to get that 'perfect' score at the end. There is a lot of great maps and they throw easy ones at you often later in the game, they even have an easy button before each fight. So if you wipped the first time and just can't figure it out, you can hit the easy mode. You can also have the game auto point your talent tree if that's difficult or for younger players. The boss fights are great, and without spoilers, they are entertaining to say the least, gotta play this game, they did a great job on these bosses. So with talent trees for each character, weapons for each character and challenges for areas you completed, Ubisoft filled this game with lots of content, not dlc parted out, as per the norm of Ubisoft. If you start it and aren't sure you like it, give it a solid hour and see. That's about the break in period I noticed. Great game! Surprisingly.
