I am not an audiophile, but definitely notice the clarity from these speakers. Spent quite a bit of time in the magnolia room bouncing between the Def Tech and B&W. The B&W were a close second, but price was the deal killer and actually I felt the tweeter clarity was slightly better on the Martins. Only draw back to the motion design is they are somewhat directionally sensitive and there is some difference in the sound depending on where you are physically positioned in relation to the speaker, not enough of an issue for for my taste though.

These speakers are gorgeous. The high frequencies are stunning. They sound amazing for their size. I have a B&W 7.1 system in my living room. I added these two to my bedroom for music. I ended up exchanging them for Deftech Promonitor 1000s. You absolutely need a subwoofer with these in my opinion. Also, I feel like they favor the upper frequencies. They're amazing but don't integrate well with other speakers brands. When I had both rooms on and was in between these completely drowned out the living room. To me they sound bright. Overall I'm glad I went with the Deftechs. I do miss that tweeter though. The Deftechs can handle way more wattage by the way and cost less. The bass from the Deftechs is astounding.

I was not sure what kind of performance I would get from this compact bookshelf speaker. But I was pleasantly surprised by how full and clear the sound was. The black lacquer, curved design is very sleek. I really like how Martin Logan incorporated their high end, ribbon tweeter technology into this model. I will say that this speaker likes plenty of power. So don't be afraid to use a potent amplifier. Also, I would agree with others that have reviewed this speaker that it does need several hours of break in time. After which you will truly hear how good this speaker really sounds. The more I listened, the more I enjoyed the fullness and clarity of these speakers.

The Martin & Logan Motion 4 speakers sound incredible for a bookshelf speaker on the smaller side. These are my front channel speakers in my surround sound system and they sound amazing. Before I had them all hooked up, I tested one by itself and it filled the entire room with amazing sounding music. The frequency range is large enough that you get decent bass out of the speaker while achieving unbelievable higher pitched sound. The clearest and realest sounding speaker I've heard in this price range.

Just got these speakers and I can already tell I'm going to love them. The clarity and detail is amazing, even at higher sound levels, no distortion. I am just running a stereo pair in a large bedroom. I would highly recommend these speakers. Some would say that $500 is a lot for a pair of speakers but if you consider the sound and build quality it is definitely a good investment. Have a listen, you'll love them. I would however recommend hooking them up with a sub woofer if you really want lower bass.

These small speakers are perfect for mounting on a wall. The tweeter really kicks out good high end. I paired with a subwoofer and its sounds great.

I couldn't be happier with the purchase of my new speakers. We purchased for back speakers because we had Martin Logan floor front speakers. But they could easily function as front speakers based on the quality of the sound. We also purchased the Motion 8 center speaker which was a great completion of our 7.1. Rarely a day goes by that I am not still amazed at the sound of some music or TV I am viewing.

I am a hobbyist speaker designer/builder, so I am accustomed to being able to get the highest sound quality from a system. That means that when I'm forced to purchase and use manufactured speakers of someone else's design, the likelihood of me being happy with anything for the amount of money I'm willing to lay out to make a system functional is low.
That being said, I recently had a big remodel in my office space with a great new height adjusting desk, which sounds and is wonderful, except for the fact that it destroyed the cobbled together framework that held together my old "listenable at the lowest cost" system. My carpentry capacity is limited to almost nothing just now, and all of my jury rigging, retrying old pieces of kit, and making endless adjustments via room placement and my inexpensive but fairly competent electronics that I have driving that system produced underwhelming results at best.
After a couple weeks of that frustration, I decided that I was just going to have to spend some money on something I wouldn't have to build myself. After a great deal of thought and research, it came down to a couple of things. First, I would have to come up with satellites or smaller bookshelf speakers and have them on the desktop (easy enough as the silly thing is 3'x5' which is just a vast expanse of desk by my standards), but they would need to be as small as possible so they could be pulled as far away from my ears as possible, while still being large enough to have useful output below 80Hz or so (the rule of thumb point at which it becomes possible for the human ear/brain to locate in space the source low frequencies are being produced from). The second was that I was going to have to break down and go with some sort of boxed subwoofer (long story; IMO, the best bass doesn't come from boxes), though I already had large woofers and a capable amp for the job, so I was still looking for the cheap way out there.
The sub was easy. The new desk was across a corner so there was plenty for floor space under and behind for placement. I simply picked up a sealed cabinet from Best Buy mean for installing a pair of 10" woofers in a car installation and dropped in a pair of the 10"ers I had on hand that specced best for being in a sealed cabinet. Since each driver was sealed in its own, separate volume and my amp was capable of not only running a subwoofer crossover, but to do it in stereo, I did that to put a little more air in the sound of the big boxy beast.
After that I hunted high and low for just the right speakers for the desktop. I wanted something small-ish, something good looking, something that maybe used interesting technology, and something with subjective high enough sound quality that I wouldn't constantly be trying to make adjustments to my electronics to compensate for one shortcoming or another. I had always been interested in Martin Logan, what with their big electrostatic panels and the fact that they're a local maker (Kansas, I believe; I'm in the St. Louis area myself). I had recently been convinced that ported speakers could sound good by a demo of the Polk Signature line floor standers (using a flared port design meant for more seamlessly mating the air motion of the port to the air mass of the room, very reminiscent of a design I had come up with years ago and had never had the time or resources to build and test for myself), and these little Martin Logans, which I had noted for their cool appearance and air motion transformer tweeters when they had initially been released, were using an interestingly folded port (search for a picture of it online; too hard to explain in words but pretty cool and allows for a tapering port that is more than twice as long as it apparently is just by looking at the cabinet from the outside) that was at least flared generously into the room, if not to the degree of the Polks. About the time that I started this search, these speakers appeared to be closed out and went on a solid discount, easily making them the bar for me to beat with any other brand of speakers I was considering for this system. After a couple weeks of searching and auditioning, I went ahead and brought a pair of the Motion 4s home (harder than it sounds; around there, one Best Buy had one, and had to drive out 25 minutes to another Best Buy to get the second speaker; order them online and have them shipped before they disappear).
Once I got them set up and adjusted, which was much easier that's I was afraid of, testament to solid design and the fact that the air motion transformer tweeters are far more forgiving that Martin Logan's more iconic electrostatic panels, I was immediately able to get on with business as usual without sound quality being some sort of nagging thing for me. Not the effortless, lively sound of my previous (not to mention much larger and in need of difficult initial setup) system, but clean, detailed and congestion free sound, regardless of volume level. With some EQ boost, they can be the most awesome 2.0 desktop system you've ever heard, though this amount of EQ does cause a bit of mud in the sound, and you won't get much output below 60Hz. Politely crossed with my now over abundance of subwoofing capacity, I am now as happy as I'm going to be without having to shell out some money to get a professional carpenter to help me realize my own designs and likely spending 10x what a pair of Motion 4s and a cheap but capable subwoofer might go for.
Of course, as I said, I'm hard to please. For most folks a pair of these would make a nice listening setup in a den or kitchen (or paired with a cheap digital amp for PC use). They would also make a good replacement for a cheap sound bar for TV use or be used as surrounds or even mains for movie watching, again with appropriate subwoofer(s). These speakers present clean, clear sound, to much higher volumes than I was expecting, without distortion and no noticeable coloration, IMO, so at the very least, at these prices, I can totally recommend them to be slotted in as surrounds with an existing system, almost regardless of what brands/models you're running for mains or center.
Solid, local made gear for bargain basement prices over in Magnolia.

These speakers are top of the line, aesthetically quite stunning, are well designed. When listening and comparing to other bookshelf speakers, these were far and away the most excellent for the size & price range. They are built well and Company guarantees/warranty for 5 years. The sound is gorgeous, the detail is clear, there's a richness and beautiful quality to the sound. When I called Company directly to ask them a question, they were so friendly and helpful; very accessible. They are U.S. based and everything is designed here. We can't say enough good things about these speakers. Worth spending the extra bucks. Great Value for your money!

This is a bit high priced, but the sound difference is quite amazing. Very well balanced and really can hear dialogue in movies now. We had Nanosats that were used for all 5 speakers and this replaced the Left and Right front and I would recommend this speaker to anyone. PAiring with the Center 8 was a great choice.

Used 2 of these speakers for L & R in our Belo cabinet. Because of their size I was able to put them on their side with felt on each corner to minimize rattle against the cabinet, and with the center speaker in-between they work great.

The sound is excellent. I am using them with an NAD D 3020 and a Mac and iTunes. I have a couple systems that boom bass, and I wanted a small system that wouldn't thump my wife and son too much in our smallish space, but that had quality sound. I expected these speakers to do the job nicely, but as stated above, they exceeded my hopes. Especially since I got them on sale, for $350 a pair. I was going to buy them anyway, at $500, and they would have been worth that price, as well. These have excellent clear, clean bass, in perfect balance with the mids and highs, which are also crystal clear. Fabulously small footprint.

I bought two Martin Logan Motion 4 speakers and a Sony STR-DN850 amp. I'm currently running a 2.0 setup and the sound is excellent. High's and Mid's are great and the bass is impressive considering I'm not running a sub. TV and Movies sound great, but I find myself wanting a sub for music. I will probably skip the sub for a while as I live in an apartment, but I will purchase a ML center channel soon. These speakers look great sitting out on my TV stand, too.
These speakers aren't cheap, but the sound quality and appearance make them worth the price. I previously tried Definitive Technology's ProCinema 600 speakers and found the sound lacking in the mid-ranges.

Paired with a BW CM9 and center, Marantz 7008, and the sound is great. You should run Audessey at least twice to get the sound right for the room, but the detail in surround are exceptional.
