Beautiful open world, some really heavy impactful choices, very interesting storylines. This game has it all, unfortunately there are a few very minor bugs that I assume will be patched. Haven't ran into any animation bugs on ps4

As a huge fan of the first 3 Mass Effect games, I will say that Andromeda is still a solid release that has a satisfying single-player mode. Despite what cynics claim, this game was a lot of fun to play with memorable characters that you come to love. Please note that the Bioware team that worked on this game (Bioware Montreal) is not the same team that worked on the original three games (Bioware Edmonton). With this in mind, they did really well for their first full fledged game and I applaud them for doing their best. Combat is really polished and the vast amount of biotic/tech powers will make you drool. Driving around in the Nomad is pretty fun and makes exploring the planets exciting. The story is engaging and satisfying as a first installment.

Fun new direction for Mass Effect, but with issues

I am a fan of the original Mass Effect trilogy and I was cautiously excited for this next step in the franchise. Mass Effect Andromeda is a new direction in the franchise not only with a new cast of characters, but with exploration and improved combat. The only issues I have seen in the game are technical ones, like the game stuttering when driving the land vehicle(nomad) or things not loading in when talking to characters such as their bodies or textures. These can be annoying, but are not game breaking so far. The game is fun and fans of the franchise will enjoy it, you just have to tolerate the issues. I think EA rushed the game out so it hurt the quality, but it's still fun and hopefully they can fix it with patches

This game is actually pretty great. Sure the facial animations are an utter travesty, but the game's story, gameplay, and multiplayer modes are all very good. Multiplayer is especially addicting.

Not too far in at this point, but it feels like mass effect. Game got a lot of bad reviews and flak for the faces and animation. With the default Ryder models I can see why. The custom versions fair a little better, but if you can't just focus on the dialogue and story the models animations (especially mouths) can pull you out of getting immersed during dialogue. The dialogue system FEELS more robust than previous games in the series, but time will tell how deep it affects the story. Combat and action are nice. Best part of the game so far. It's worth giving it a chance at discount. If I had paid full price at launch I'd have been dissapointed.

So far I am enjoying this game very much, and I've set up an outpost on only one planet so far. There's so much to do in this game! I'm not going to criticize the character animations, but if you're inclined to look for examples of disappointing/weird/bad animations you'll probably find plenty. The story and characters are pretty intriguing so far, and there seems to be a lot of emphasis on exploring the planets (the scenery is gorgeous) in side missions separate from the main priority missions. I don't know if Andromeda will be my favorite Mass Effect game, but I give it a thumbs up so far. The multiplayer is much harder but still fun.

Im a huge mass effect fan and preordered this at launch but canceled after all of the negative reviews came in. I decided to wait for a sale and got the game for 20 bucks. The graphics are outstanding and the gameplay is fun so far. Im only 10 hours in but entertained for now.

I personally really liked this. The story wasn't up to the level I hoped (the two new alien races either instantly shoot at you or very quickly accept you and I thought there could have been more tensions in trying to get along as a visitor from a far-off world), but I still like most of the characters, the gameplay is a lot of fun, it's fun to role-play in this universe, and I personally haven't experienced the bugs that seem to crop up in a lot of gameplay footage. It doesn't feel like it has advanced as far as other series like the Witcher, but I still got absorbed into the world the same way I did with the prior games.

I know ill take some flak for this but, Andromeda was actually a great game. The facial animations did have some issues yes, but after reviewing more and more games myself i found that almost all modern day video games suffer from facial and body animation issues. Sadly as well most games when they launch are very broken..... mass effect isnt the only game thats had to deal with that issue. So with how cheap it is now if you ever want a (separate dlc) for the mass effect series definately pick andromeda up.

There's been a lot of negativity about this game, however I really enjoyed it and I'm a huge fan of the original Mass Effect trilogy.
You play as Ryder, a leader in a Milky Way expedition to settle the various sentient species from the first games in a new galaxy. Naturally things don't go as planned and adventure follows as a result.
I encountered a few bugs here and there and would recommend closing the game instead of sleeping it if playing on PS4 (sleeping the game tended to cause frame rate drops for me on my original PS4).
The combat was fun. Ryder isn't limited to class-based skills in this game, but has the option to equip whichever skills you want.
Multiplayer is just like ME3's which is a good thing, though rounds are only 7 waves long instead of 10 - makes things go a little faster which is good.
I thought the story was good, and lays a good foundation for a follow-up game. The scope might not be as epic as "near-invincible machines are coming to wipe out the galaxy again", but it is about as epic as ME1.
If you want a more polished experience, you may want to wait until the holiday season of 2017 so Bioware can release a couple more patches, but the game is quite good now too.

Probably not the huge improvement people were looking for, but that doesn't make it a bad game. If you liked the other Mass Effects, you'll probably like this one too. Now that it's dropped in price, it's really a great value of hours of game play vs $

I've still barely scratched the surface playing the game so far, but I've still been impressed by what I've seen. The story is intriguing and based on the size of the game I feel like I'll easily put in 60+ hours into playing it. On PS4 pro, the graphics are quite amazing for how large the game is. A majority of bad reviews mention the character face movements when talking and change in combat. Overall, I think they are minor once you get used to the new cover system. If you view the game as a stand alone (which it should be anyway), the game is quite enjoyable for any RPG/space fan.

ME A is the worst Mass Effect of them all, but it's still a pretty good game. Load times and animations between planets and destinations are annoying and numerous. In one case, traveling to a specific area on a space station can have up to 4 different load screens. There is no shortcut to just get where you need to go.
On the positive side, the story is fun. They did a nice job leaving mystery for subsequent games. Combat is fun. As you level, you will start to unlock some great combo skills. They could have spent a bit more time on polish, but MA E is worth your time.

Andromeda is a great game, the story is very imersive and the combat, weapons, companions and the rest is very good. Don't believe that all of the bad reviews are true. It does have a few bugs that are mostly fixed in patches and the facial animations aren't that bad. Only if you're extremely picky will you find it a problem.

Mass Effect Andromeda is as great game overall if you don't set your expectations too high. The game has great fast and fluid combat with a good story to accompany it. The facial animations may detract some from the experience but that is really the only grape about the game I had. Overall a great buy for Mass Effect fans.

First of all i love the Mass Effect francise, the trilogy was amazing. As a fan of the franchise i had great expectations for Andromeda. This game does not dissapoint. Yes it has the much talked facial animations issue and a few glitches, but it does feel like a Mass Effect game and Bioware is working on solving the issues (they just released a patch). New comers to the franchise will have plenty to learn about the races and tech, but that is part of the expirence. Veterans will feel right at home and a new galaxy to explore.

Andromeda is an OK game that feels incredibly unpolished in its current state. Compared to the original trilogy, the writing is poor, animations stink, character models are underwhelming or straight up ugly, dialogue is cringey, voice acting is questionable, inventory management is ME1 bad, crafting is overly complex with numerous amount of materials to keep track of, terrible menus to navigate, and an overall jankiness feel to the game.
What the game does well is a sense of exploration that goes beyond any of the original ME games, and the combat feels quite good, except for the fact that there is no power wheel option for yourself or squadmates. The game gives you 3 powers to use up front, if you want to use anything else you have to go into the skill menu and reassign powers. Did I mention that you can't choose squadmate skills to use in combat? You just point and click to tell them what to attack or where to move, quite disappointing.
Overall, the game is ok and hopefully can be improved in the future on the technical side, but you can't fix flawed core design and story writing. It's a decent game, but you'd be better off replaying the original trilogy for a far grander experience.

Mass Effect: Andromeda is a mixed bag. There are plenty of quests to keep you busy and opportunities to customize your abilities, but it's disappointing that you're still only allowed to play as a human in the main story. This especially frustrating because there are so many alien races in the game. Combat feels good though. Cover is a little iffy, but you can move fluidly throughout the battlefield with ease. Exploration is fun. The game could definitely be more than it is, but it's still fun to play.

It will be hard to surpass the characters and story from the original trilogy, but the game has a lot to offer. Better graphics, controls, sound and game engine. However, it wouldn't be a bad idea to wait on a couple patches as there are some bugs in the game. None that I've experienced, but many are reporting. If you are a fan of the series, it's a no brainer. If not, there are better RPGs to play like the Witcher 3 or Dragon Age. If Sci-Fi is a must, this may be your game.
