This is a vivid, exciting tale of naval warfare, but it's also a satisfying and moving portrayal of a unique community: the company of a warship. The film is full of stirring action scenes, but it is equally rich in the details of the men's everyday life: their food, shipboard entertainment, naval tradition, etc.

Great movie!!! I always enjoy watching sailing movies like this and Pirates of the Caribbean movies! Russell Crowe has his really good movies and this is one of them! Hmmmm must be the pirate in me.....arrrrrggggghhhhh

The sound quality of this movie is so outstanding that I decided to buy a second copy when my first one got lost after moving to our new house. You are going to have to watch it on a desktop computer loaded with the latest sound card that you can get and paired with the Klipsch Pro Media 2.1 speaker set-up.

An epic, set in the Napeolonic Wars a few hundred years ago.. Russell Crowe has to navigate, watch his back, and explore unclaimed uninhabited lands. A very fun adventure to watch. Full of perils, excitement, and suspense.

It is difficult to find a thematic movie set in the time of great sails that actually uses real sail ships. If you are like me are sick of CG everything than you will love Master and Commander. Russell Crowe is awesome and the crew paints a very realistic picture of life on the high seas.

An old movie I enjoy seeing from time to time. The delivery svc was good and the dvd arrived in good condition. The price was good and w/ delivery and tax was less than $10.00. Very Happy.

Another nicely done action thriller from Russell Crowe. I had the old DVD version, but this new Blu-Ray version is much better in clearity. And it takes up so much less space on the shelf. Well woth the few dollars spent on the movie. Rent it twice and you could have bought it.

I'd recommend this movie to all, young and old. This movie will take you into their world and beyond. Incredible visual effects and the stunning recreation of the ships will blow you away! The acting was superb and scenes, breathtaking! A must for all!

Master and Commander is a very well made historical seafaring adventure movie. The movie looks and sounds great on Blu-Ray, but what disappoints me is that the studio didn't bother to include all the bonus features from the previous DVD collector's edition.

This is a fun and exciting action movie with wonderful acting. Russell Crowe and Paul Bettany do great jobs in their roles. The music is exciting and fits the action. Sound effects are good. Good to watch repeatedly.

This is a great action/adventure movie. It has an exciting hunt-and-seek plot with great acting by Russell Crowe,Paul Bettany and other cast members. Wonderful music that fits the action. It is worth watching repeatedly.

Russell Crowe is Great in this captivating movie about His leadership during hard times on the sea. That is in my option the best movie he has ever been in. Lots of action and suspense during this adventure of the Captain and his men.

Excellent movie. It was great to watch each commander outwit one another to get the perfect position. Graphics were fantastic. A very etertaining movie.

This blu ray will practically transport you away from your living room and into the intense yet wonderful world of the ocean! A great film for all, and even more amazing for those who appreciate good blu ray transfers!

I used to love reading about sea warfare of the British Empire and, as a paean to those days this is a fine film. The everyday life aboard ship is portrayed with scrupulous accuracy and the musical score is great.

For a stand alone movie, this is a fairly faithful adaption of the Patrick O'Brien series. It's a shame they didn't make more. If you like the movie, you should really read the books (all 21).

Best naval warfare movie of all time. This is Russell Crowe at his finest since Gladiator. No punches pulled and subtle humor throughout.

One of my all time favorite movies. This is a great period movie. All of the performances were excellent!!! It shows the grittyness of a sailor's life at that time. Great story and great movie!

This movie has a great audio track, if you have a good av setup, this is def worth getting as it sounds crystal clear!
