Although James Garner played Maverick on TV for 5 seasons, it is strange to see him in this 1994 motion picture, not as the lead character but as a lawman, but is Marshall Zane Cooper a friend or an enemy of Maverick (Mel Gibson) needs to be determined. The plot revolves around Maverick wanting to enter a high stakes poker game but is $3,000 short of the $25,000 entry fee. The adventure begins with Maverick trying to win the money as well as trying to collect old debts so that he can get on the paddle steamer to play in the tournament. The drama is more comedy than wild west rough and tumble, but is worth the watch.

This movie is a great western comedy and the tongue-in-cheek humor is awesome! Lots of cameos throughout the movie... especially in the final poker game scenes. You'll love the Danny Glover cameo!!! LOL!

Mel Gibson was absolutely funny in this movie. It was great to see James Garner as well.

A Very good mix of comedy and action!!!! I think it is one of Mel Gibsons best movies and it has a lot of good supporting actors as well.

Maverick is a blend of comedy, action and western hijinx that spells fun for the whole family. With great performances from all actors involved, great cameos from western actors from yesteryear..there's no beating this for a good, rolicking time...enjoy.

This is an entertaining comedy with many well known and popular actors that relives the series from the mid 20th century. It contains amusing overtones paralleling a dissimilar movie.

My all time favorite movie, the comedy is some of the best I've ever seen in a movie - the acting by Mel, Jodie and James are top notch. The cinematography are outstanding - they spared no expense.

Mel Gibson is the one who sells it all, however Jodi Foster is rotten to the core with such a blistering amount of sweetness and charm, along with Beauty that this is a great western spoof.

Fun early 90s western, great characters and a stellar script by the legendary William Goldman. The blu ray quality is so-so, a bit soft at times, but the movie itself is a hugely entertaining experience.
