Reduce your wash time

Because it has a larger tub, I can do less loads. With more wash cycles available, I can better control the cleaning. And this unit spins the clothes nearly dry which has decreased my drying time. All in all a win win situation. The only drawback is the depth of the tub. I'm a bit over 5' so getting to the bottom of the tub means I need a step stool. But with the other advantages of this washer, I'll use the stool.

Only thing is it is so deep I can barely reach the bottom. I am 5’4” and have to be on my tip toes to get things off the bottom. If you are shorter you will need a step.

After much research I settled on the Maytag - for good reviews plus a 10 year warranty. It cleans so much better than my old agitator. It rinses clean too - I don’t understand the reviews that say the soap doesn’t come out. I was slightly worried about the clothes being tangled but I haven’t experienced that. You can choose the spin speed - but the auto settings seem to work well. And I just love the large capacity for bedding and towels.

Amazing washer

This is second top-load HE machine I have had - Whirlpool and now Maytag. I hate it!! Regardless of cycle it doesn't move clothes around enough to clean them. I have to handwash in the sink after a load is done to get things clean. See attached picture for examples! Filthy water! Socks stink when people put them on "clean". Washer is less than 2 years old, cost me $1000 and now I have to get a different one (NOT Maytag). Service tech has been out and everything is working as it should. Maytag support was terrible. Nobody can figure out why it doesn't clean. Angry and dissatisfied customer!!! I would give a "0" rating if I could.

Posted .Hi AngryMaytagCustomer, We are sorry to learn about the concerns you have about your washer not washing properly. Your washer will not work like you previous washers did. We manufacture several different models with various features and accessories to provide appliances that not only meet increasing government restrictions on energy and washer usage, but will be versatile in meeting the needs of our customers, and still providing the best performance our brands is known for. All of our appliances must meet certain criteria by the Department of Energy, and we cannot manufacture appliances if we do not meet their demands. Try adjusting the amount of detergent you are using. Current washers use less water, and using too much detergent will not allow the washer to rinse the clothing properly. Try to adjust the amount of detergent based on the clothing type, and cycle chosen. If you have whites or brights that have become dingy looking, wash them in the hottest water possible without using detergent. If you notice a difference, there could be too much detergent in the water, and it could be re depositing on the clothing, causing them to look dirty or unclean. The cycles you choose will also affect the washing performance. Certain types of materials will absorb more water than others also affecting the cleaning performance. For example, if you are washing towels, sweats, or thick sweaters, the better cycle to use will be a bulky or heavy duty. This cycle accommodates thicker materials by adding more water, has a short soak in the cycle, and a longer wash time. This also might work better if you are washing a large load. The soil level is adjustable and might need to be adjusted depending on how the soil level the clothing is at. The soil level will adjust the amount of water and the wash time. You may want to run a clean cycle on the washer, to remove any undissolved detergent in the washer. Make sure that you use HE detergent, as detergent that makes suds will not rinse properly. Sometimes it helps to ball up the clothing slightly, like the size of soccer ball, and place around the agitator plate, as that will allow it to agitate better. To make sure your washer is getting enough hot water, I would make sure your water heater is set to 120'F, the best temperature to wash clothing, and make sure the inlet hose screen is clean of debris. Those of shorter stature may find it difficult to reach to the bottom of the washer to reach clothing. The water consumption is very little compared to my outdated washer.

It harkens back to the renown top of the line washers from which Maytag earned its stellar reputation of previous decades. It is very quiet and clean exceedingly well. The direct drive is of intelligent and elegant design. Only negative is the squeeze clamp used to attach the drain hose to the dryer We switched it out with a camp that screws tight to prevent slippage. Strongly recommend that Maytag provides a superior clamp for a superior product.

Very happy with my wife's choice

After replacing three other foreign made washers (1 European, 2 Asian) in the past 14 years, my wife convinced me to buy American. The repair guy who looked at our last washer said he mainly gets called to fix foreign washers. The new Maytag has been great! I put 14 pairs of jeans in it and they came out wonderfully clean. Excellent capacity and convenience.
