    Loud and unreliable

We bought this machine right after our son was born. we needed a larger capacity. It got really loud (like an airplane was taking off from my laundry room) after a few years and now, 5 years later, it will not work. The error code mentioned a shifter error. When you look up parts for shifter, Maytag advised a part that wasn't even on the machine and their service line was zero help. They even quoted me the wrong price to have a service person come look at it. A bit more googling and i found the correct part and replaced it. It started working but was still loud. A month later it stops working again. The Maytag Customer Service was the worst and more frustrating part of the whole situation. I wasted more time just trying to reach a person with the company through phone, web and text than it took me to replace the part. They did not appear to care. For that reason, I'll never buy another Maytag.

Bough to replace a very old GE washer than came with my house. This is a big improvement. Top leader holds a ton of clothes but is efficient like a front loader. No agitator also means the clothes won’t get as worn.

Gets clothes clean as expected. It is very quiet. Capacity is huge and the washer can handle a king size comforter. It is very deep though so is difficult for a shorter person to get to the bottom after washing.

Cleans everything really well. Love the large capacity. Can get my king-sized comforter in and cleaned without any problems. Only drawback is that I have to get a step stool to stand on in order to get all of the items out after the load is done, but didn't want to front load washer after reading so many negatives about keeping it clean. Would absolutely recommend this machine to any one in the market for a new washer.

I love my new Maytag washer! It is east to use, has a huge capacity and is so quiet I initially went into the laundry room to see if it was running. I would recommend this machine and would buy it again.

I would have given this product 5 stars but I think it is a little "rough" on some clothes, so I would put them in a lingerie bag. It is also very deep and hard to reach the bottom if you are short. But on the bright side, it is a large capacity machine that will seek its own water level depending on how much you load. It is very quiet and the spin cycle takes a lot of water out, making the drying time shorter. I would buy again.

This machine is a beast! Huge tub capacity. The controls are fairly easy to use (and figure out in the beginning). This is the first washer we have owned of the new high efficiency models. We were somewhat apprehensive after reading reviews for the new generation of washers, but this one seems to do the job without much fuss. And, it is fairly quiet when running various cycles, which surprised me. I was expecting more noise than it exhibits. The matching dryer is also high capacity and runs well. Geek Squad delivery and installation was top notch. Kudos to Best Buy for having trained, professional installers. They even provide a quick tutorial for your machine.

This machine saves my wife so much time. She spends less time doing laundry now. It uses less water, which is fantastic since we are on a septic system. Its quiet, efficient and so glad to have purchased it.

We require a large capacity washer and this one fit the bill. I prefer the models without an agitator and the cleaning has been satisfactory. To me, the controls are sensible and do not confuse you with what are really subtle differences. It is a bit noisy but closing the door on the laundry area reduces the noise so it is not an issue.

Extremely quiet and efficient! We used a front-loader for 15+ years and now we switched to a top-loader. The size of the machine and what you can fit in it is amazing!

Replaced my old maytag top load washer without agitator for this one to increase capacity. Much larger. Seems to be a bit quieter also. Can be a challenge to reach the very bottom for those of us that are vertically challenged but seem to be managing. Much better than any front load machine that will rock your whole house when it sits on the main floor.

My old washer was the industrial standard years ago. I can put over two old loads in this new deep and wider washer. The clothing appears to come out cleaner and not so squished. Ease of putting in soap and bleach. The machine will weigh the clothing and then use only what is necessary to wash the load. A long was from the ringer machine I helped my mother with on the farm. If she had this back then, she’d think she was in heaven. Which she now is.

Impeller washer doesn't use a ton of water, operates quietly. I do wish that the cycles wouldn't take so long -- too much sensing of the laundry load size throughout the cycles makes washing a load of clothes longer than usual. Or maybe I'm just impatient when I have multiple loads to get done in a day.

After 17 years with the same washer, and the washer lid switch failed, and the dryer previously repaired, it was time to upgrade. This Maytag washer has a large tub, no agitator, and holds a king size comforter with ease. The washer fills differently and makes different sounds that my old washer and that may take a bit of getting used to. Clothing, towels and bedding all come out clean. Still trying to determine the most efficient settings for my size loads, but should figure this out soon. Note that the 2 delivery personnel were very cordial and efficient in removing the old washer and dryer, and in setting up the new ones.

We bought this washer to replace a Whirlpool we'd had for the last 28 years. We were looking for a top loader but still wanted the efficiency of the newer washers and this unit has both. You can easily wash a king size comforter in it and not even fill it up. Clothes come out clean and everything is fairly automatic. You just put the clothes in, set it for the type of load and make any additions you want and that's it. There is a drawer for detergent, fabric softener and Oxy-Clean as well as a place to add liquid bleach. The machine checks the load, adds the right amount of water and takes it from there. Couldn't be happier.

The missing agitator is the problem

My wife and I read all of the negative comments and thought to ourselves, these must just be complainers and went ahead and bought this machine anyway. It is a Maytag, they are supposed to be one of the best out there. The first load was a king size comforter. We loaded it in evenly and eventually had to hand wring all of the water out of it after 3 hours of the machine continuing to refill in order to balance the load. The lack of an agitator seemed like a great idea in that it gave us so much more room, but the agitator is what keeps your loads balanced. Luckily the dryer that we bought with this set was outstanding and able to handle drying the soaking wet comforter. Every load that we did thereafter was small in order to not unbalance the machine. Unfortunately the water monitor that prevent excess water from being used, never actually allowed the water to cover all of the clothes. We noticed after every wash, that the Unstoppable sprinkles would fall all over the floor when we would transfer the load to the dryer. We called Amber at Best Buy the day after it was delivered and she ordered us a new LG Front Loader set to replace this set. This concept of no agitator in order to make more room is a great idea, however the technology is not there to ensure your load remains balanced throughout the wash. This in turn makes the machine refill over and over again to try and balance the load for the spin cycle. Just get a front loader and do the monthly wipe-down of the seals with a White Vinegar and Water solution to prevent mold. Also, keep the door open when not in use, and this will prevent water from remaining in the crevasses of the door and machine.
